The grey metal thing with legs is a grater, my gran had the same. You need to find a set of round grating discs of a range of hole size. Each disc fits under the body, slides into those little bent metal prongs you can see underneath. Then you also need to find the turning handle which is a right angled rod with a gripping knob at the top and a flat bit at the bottom that fits into the top of the device. To use it, stand it on a flat surface, put the food in the well, close the lid as far as it can go on top of the food, hold it there by gripping the 2 parts of the device handle together, and then rotate the knob which rotates the rod which rotates the cutting disc you have inserted. And the grated food falls out the bottom. Voila!
Hope you kept the silver what a find bet she was hiding it so would not be stolen. The Pyrex bowls are great. So many great things that she kept. Keep up the good work. I am living out my dream of cleaning out an old house and finding all these things.
The wooden mold I know as a Syrian cookie mold. You put a layer of dough in the bottom and then a nut ball in the middle and then another layer of dough on top and press to make a cookie with a nut center(usually at Christmas)
The item that you didn't know what it was (in the end of the movie) it's a Moulinex. A very common cutting and shredding machine, that we use over here in Europe, but you are missing some parts, a crank and the tear plates. I have my grandmother and it's still working just fine. You can slice, shred and grate vegetables with it, for example you can shred potatoes, carrots, etc.
The silverware usually has value, also collectable at one time. Looks like a nice set. I also have similar pyrex bowls. They have value, for sure. I have my grandmother's set of silverware, brand was Rogers Bros. Was popular, especially between 1920-1960s to use when entertaining. Love the treasures you're finding! Thanks for sharing!
I enjoy your content and look forward to each video. It is so interesting to see what treasures you find! Like others have said the kitchen item you asked about is missing handle & cutting blades. I remember my Mon shredding potatoes to make hash browns for breakfast!
Wishing you would show even more of yours finds…and wash what can be donated instead of trowing out! Love to follow you in this adventure, can’t wait to discover with all of us… what’s next. You are both very darlings!😊
Thanks so much! ☺️ We spent months going through everything, and hand washing hundreds of items. Many were donated. With limited time (we both work full time and also needed to make the house livable as our #1 priority asap) we kept as much as possible, really only trashing what was beyond repair (rat damage, holes, and chips don’t always show on camera and we wouldn’t donate something that was in horrible condition). Thanks for watching and hope you’ll join us on live chat today at 5pm! ☺️
On eBay those Pyrex bows are selling for $130 - but they might be worth more. I have the same set that was my grandmothers. It's not being used, because I don't want them broken. I have really enjoyed watched the clean out. I can't wait to see new video's of how the house becomes y'alls home.
Thanks so much! We just have a couple more things to Cleanout before we start the real transformation 😃 stay tuned! (Also, I love those bowls, and pretty sure I’ll have to keep them ☺️)
The Pyrex bowl set is called Primary Colors. I believe they came out about 1948 and were sold from many years. My mom got a set as a wedding present. I was able to find the yellow bowl in her set; she must have broken the others in the set over the years.
The last thing you held up looks like a Mouli food mill, a manual predecessor of the food processor. These are still sold. There are various discs for shredding, slicing, etc. that are spun around by a hand crank.
The metal thing with the feet was a primitive food processor. Somewhere in the kitchen would have been the plates for shredding or slicing foods and a handle to crank it.
The metal object was used for slicing and dicing. Round discs were used in the space above the feet and below the arm that held the veggies down to do the slicing and dicing.
My parents were antique silver dealers. French sterling silver is the highest grade silver ( denoted by the number 950) Also, the French silver hallmarks are typically on the front. If its sterling it must have a "Minerva" mark...which is a hallmark, typically inside a square, with the bust of Minerva. Silver plate will just be an lozenge shape mark. I couldn't see the hallmarks well enough to determine. The reason it is ornate on , what we called, the back...is the Europeans place silverware upside down...but right side up to them...lol. It looks like sterling to me and it quite valuable..... especially if its a really old ( Victorian)
Yup - the fridge was pretty Nasty, but we expected that after sitting for so long. SCORE on the Set of Pyrex Bowls, I'd for sure be keeping those; every grandma had a set. Double Score for the Silverware - it was in great condition considering it's sat for several years; proof those velvet/felt bags work! The decorative tiles, very nice; the one on the right does resemble the Case and the lady is certainly Marie. Yes, hang that in a place of honor in the house. Suggestion - Google Lens App can be downloaded to your phone. If you're not familiar, you aim your phone camera at the object in question and click, it brings up ones like the object to compare, a bit of history and price currently be sold for.
The metal thing with the two legs that skin should also have round disks that slide into the bottom and a handle that goes through the center of the disc that you CRANK the disc. You left the Handle, put cheese into the tub, put the handle down onto the cheese, and the handle. You end up with grated cheese.
😊The little sugar bowl with the lid , is called Iris glass , made from the Imperial glass company 1920’s -1970’s Good condition$30-50 dollars! Give or take
I so, as you, would kept those Pyrex. However, I was thinking - would I used them at all? Of course not! They must not get damaged! :)) What a find tough!
Kaching 😊😊 two great finds. The pyrex set which looks so bright and cheerful and the silver cutlery set which looks awesome, not a design ive seen before so probably European and not British but im sure you guys have worked that one out. Have you guys thought about starting a Instagram channel to go along with the TH-cam channel. By the way , i take it there were no hidden jem's in the fridge 😂. Keep up the good work. Gary 🇬🇧🇬🇧
The metal device you showed at the end and didn't know what it is, it should have a variety of round metal cutting disc to choose from. You slide 1 in under the opening area click in place snug against the metal clips that hold them in place. There should also be a metal handle which screws in and when you turn it, it rotates the disc to shred cabbage and other foods. My mom had one.
Hi Kristen, I'm a new subscriber from UK. The item you are not sure about appears to be a vintage French Mouli for making julienne vegetables! It would appear they are very rare, but it looks like there should be a few more bits to it? Plenty of pics on google! Really enjoying your journey and look forward to your updates! The amber decanter set seems quite common as there are many different ones and seem to sell at for around 139+ dollars.
That last thing is a vegetable grater. It is missing the handle you swing around on the top,and the discs to grate the vegetables with. It should be plased under the whole thing. 😅
I have those hot plates. Use them for dish to pass keeping food hot. 50s things are in vogue now. If it’s real silver, every bride needed real silverware and china until, maybe the 7Os or 80s when we all became casual. The Pyrex bowls could go for quite a bit. We used to drink champagne out of those glasses you called cocktail glasses. In old movies (50s) of people drinking champagne in famous nightclubs, they drank from those glasses. Flutes for Champagne are relatively new.
That metal thing you couldn’t identify is actually a grater. You are missing parts to it. There should have been a handle that turns a disk ( which is also missing).
That mystery item is a Juliene salad maker, or part of one. It should also have a handle that goes through the holes to attatch to another piece that can be rotated underneath.
I have my mother's/grandmother grater. The blades are round the handle is more like a rod with a knob at one end for the handle. Think the brand is Moulie? French I think.
I feel for you, you have a strong stomach going through the kitchen. The silver is a great find, I hope you are keeping it. Unbelievably hot for the guys to have their shirt so wet. Take care and don't forget to replenish your electrolytes.
We haven’t decided against it, but we’ve run out of time every weekend between actual renovation and editing videos lol. We still hope to have one when we can!
Oh we looked up and cleaned hundreds of items! We threw away what was chipped, chewed by rats, had holes, or was covered in mold. We could only do so much in the time we had, the main priority was getting to saving the actual house and to be able to move in 😊 thanks for watching!
I think the condition of some things must not translate on camera… mold, chips, rat chewing, etc. Also, time was most valuable so we could start working on the actual house that was falling more into disrepair in the Florida humidity by the second. We obviously could save every item from the house. We washed and saved HUNDREDS of items that were (if we didn’t step in) scheduled for the landfill 🤷♀️
We did have a couple local sales to lighten our load. Renovations and video editing have taken up every second of our weekends, so no Etsy shop yet! But we still have things to list, it just might be a while before we have time.
Please! Find a good kitchen designer before you renovate. I know the wall between the craft room and the kitchen was originally an outside wall, but there must be a way to incorporate it into the kitchen to get a more light and workspace. I find it very frustrating to work with two people in a tiny kitchen. A designer can help.
Thanks for your interest! Due to our budget and also our own love for design, it’s all in house 😊 AND we’ve spent a LOT of time designing our kitchen and can’t wait to share our plans! All I can say now is that we actually have a specific reason for keeping that wall that we’re really excited about, and we’ll reveal it in our next video 😊
My husband and I have enjoyed your new home adventure so far but I do wish you would use voiceovers instead of talking through your masks. We can’t understand anything you’re saying. Thanks.
No we didn’t. We are very mindful of waste. The camera must not translate- what we threw away was not in a condition that we would ever donate or sell- it was covered in mold and chewed on by rats. That is not acceptable to donate. However, we actually saved HUNDREDS of items that were scheduled for the landfill had we not purchased this estate, and we’ve donated quite a bit after washing it. Our main objection is to save and restore as much as we can, most importantly the house, and to move into it as soon as we can so we aren’t wasting money paying for two houses.
Keep the Pyrex bowls out of the dishwasher to save the great colors!
Great tip, thanks!
Those Pyrex bowls are a great find!!!
The mystery item is a "Mouli Julienne". It's like a hand rotary version of food processor attachments for grating, slicing etc.

Please be careful.

We’re happy to have you here! More to come 😊
Love watching! Thanks for sharing.
I love that floor in the kitchen. I hope you can keep that.
So glad you kept the bowls they are worth more than you would get at a yard sale.
The metal thing at the end is a grater. There should be some blades and a handle for it. I have a modern plastic one.
Yikes! 220 volts hurts. I know your pain. Keep having fun...great project.
Thanks!
I enjoy your content and look forward to each video. It is so interesting to see what treasures you find! Like others have said the kitchen item you asked about is missing handle & cutting blades. I remember my Mon shredding potatoes to make hash browns for breakfast!

Those cast iron pans can be worth a lot of money same as the canteen of cutlery
The vintage Pyrex have lead in the paint of the bowls. Double check the ones you have before selling.
We’re not selling them ☺️
Watching these videos Ummm I'm never going to yard sales or thrift stores again.
Don’t ever put those Pyrex bowls in the dishwasher. They will turn pure white after a couple of washes.
If the silver is stamped 925 its a pure silver and could fetch a good price. Especially if its name brand.

Amber decanter looks like it's from the Deco art period, 1919-1939.

It' s not a butter mold. Its called maamoul cookie mold. Its an excellent mold for persian cookies.
