The tile floor is absolutely STUNNING!!! The grate is beautiful too!! It makes my heart sad to see the damage the interlopers have brought to this glorious building.
Isn't it fascinating how some people are squatters and thieves and destroyers, while others seek to rescue, renovate, and create beauty...I'm so glad this chateau has finally fallen into the hands of the latter! 🙏🏻😊🇺🇸✌❤
Thank you for sharing, remember to protect yourself with hard hats, breathing masks and eye protection. Sorry to be insistent but your health care is paramount. ❤ you guys.
Yes ....almost 2025 and *still* people absolutely not caring for their health (wellbeing) whilst knowingly working within absolutely unhealthy surroundings. It can be seen across pretty much all the social channels renovating, exploring, building +.
Your English is so much better than my French, I have so much respect for you presenting a video not in your native language, you come across really well on camera
We learned with Dan (Escape to Rural France) that brick arches don't always indicate a previous opening that has been blocked in. It seems masons and bricklayers use arches throughout a wall to add further stability to the overall structure of the wall. Cheers!
Amazing stuff, but please wear safety glasses when grinding. The plaster behind the mirrior is shot so i would remove it and see if there is a fireplace there. Then you can decided if it would be better with the fireplace open or return the mirror . Such a beautiful building and so great to see what you guys are doing.
You guys have bought a beautiful family home. Best of luck and best wishes to you both. Wish I could come and help out. Although I’m a 65 year old lady I have many skills taught by my Dad. We took 11 years to renovate our 100 year old home that had been left to decay for decades. (We lovingly referred to it as Camp Runamuck). We did it ourselves as money was tight. For Christmas my parents would buy a new toilet or sink etc to put in the house. As a teen I learned grouting, electric etc as I was the eldest. These skills have done me well over the years. I have daughters who are very self sufficient and I am always the consultant/helper. Sending the 2 of you all my Love. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️. I watch all of the Pethricks. My Mom lived in a small Convent in Canada every school year and I have always been fascinated by our French ancestors. And I am married to an Archeologist so together we love researching ancient things.
That's Awesome... Same here. I'm 69 and still working on my house as if I was 39.. That's why I love these videos... (I want a chateau) lol.. just replaced my water heater, a well pump pressure tank and recently installed a manual transfer switch 10 circuits into my main panel for my generator, all by myself..I install windows, doors, plumbing, wiring. DIY all the way. Save lots of money, and I really enjoy it.!! . I think I'm on my 12th house fixer upper.. I have French ancestors ( Belanger) from Normandy area, and some went to Canada in 1635, Quebec, aka New France..I love history.. I'm in the USA. New England area.. Sure would like to visit Normandy, but not likely..
Much respect to you for having restored your home a labour of love for sure. My house was 1912 but dad could not keep it up. The Pethericks are so inspiring.
Sadie, the tile in the staircase hall resembles the tiles from another Chateau I watch. Escape to rural France has that. He removed them from his entry hall as well to preserve them as he rebuilds the entire chateau
The floor tiles are SENSATIONAL! I love that you are meticulously keeping (and cataloguing) any part of the chateau that will help in its renovation. Just clearing out the rooms bit by bit and cleaning them will feel like some level of achievement and make the renovation of the chateau so much nicer to work in. It is great to see you opening up some of the hidden pats of the building, but I hope that you still have enough security in place to prevent these parts from being damaged. It would be heart breaking to give vandals access to areas they have not been privy to. It is hard enough to battle the elements without the extra damage by uncaring idiots. Good luck! I am hooked on watching your journey.
Forget the junk ... I love the space !!! Once it is cleared and some of the cinder block partitions are removed, the original space will be amazing !!!
Just sweeping the floor, and finding the beautiful floor was exciting. What a difference already just from sweeping, and clearing out the rubbish. Your Chateau de Mucky Mansion is going to be gorgeous. Stan has a lot more restraint than I do. The windows & shudders being welded shut would have had me all kinds of ticked off. Speaking of welding, and now grinding, Stan needs to wear glasses. I have a friend who lost his sight in one eye from a spark hitting his eyeball. Don't you love that people have done so much destruction, and someone welds the door shut to where the cleaning products are. Twits! When Sadie mentioned mold, it made me think that when they're going in to new areas, they should be wearing gloves, Eyewear, & masks. Mold is very bad for your lungs to breath in. I know you all have your own mum & dad, but the mum in me is all about protection. I love your chateau. ❤
So many beautiful features like the floor tiles and that oak paneling 🥰🥰🥰 Please take care as you go through the different areas. Stan’s anger at the shotty welding is refreshing, just a sign of his passion and respect for historical buildings as well as integrity at properly doing jobs. A day of hard work and exploration-Love it! Well done! 👏🏼💖🙏🏼👏🏼💖🙏🏼
What a shame such damage was done to the gorgeous Chateau, but if anyone can bring it back to it's former glory, it's you folks! I am so looking forward to seeing how you fix this.
WOW!!! Congratulations on the purchase of your own Chateau! It is indeed a HUGE project, but excited to see what you guys can accomplish😄 Please wear hard hats and safety equipment! The ceilings and floors are scary. Also protect your eyes, hands and feet. Would love to know more about Stan’s background and story. He is doing a great job narrating the channel👍🏼🇺🇸
She is a GLORIOUS Chateau. It is sad that something so beautiful was vandalized. I love your beautiful GLORIOUS Chateau. Enjoying the MONKEY MANSION antics. Welds like a fly that poops! Or welds like a Monkey!
where the broken mirror is, could you please strip the plaster so that we may see what the probable fireplace looked like? I love seeing the cleaning up of the debris! I have been itching to do that in spirit ever since you announced your purchase of the Chateau.
That’s what I was thinking, bless their hearts. It it’s going take millions and a lot of workers to get this place to where it’s even livable. They can’t work with flashlights forever, and getting new electrics well, I hope they have a money tree in the back somewhere. My gut tells me they bit off more than they can chew. It is a beautiful place, I wish them all the luck. 🌼
When I saw the white and black tiles, suddenly I went back 40 years ago (summer camp) when I used to arrive every morning in the lobby of the chateau. Thank you for sharing this video.
Stan don’t get angry they were trying desperately to protect the building. Also Stan your knowledge of history and a multitude of subjects is amazing! Remember what ever sloppy it was done to save not destroy
@ true. This building has been abandoned for 40 plus years. So the municipality did it the easiest way they saw fit over the decades to keep people from trashing it
Aww, I do love the name of the Chateau, you can really see the potential in this building, even just after a sweep up, well done Sadie for letting us see that gorgeous floor! 🙏🤗xx
Those balls you said look like cannon balls are likely a Bocce Ball set. It's a fun game. Also, y'all need some PPE so you don't breathe in toxic mold.
Not Bocce balls. They are too big. They seems to be "Boules bretonnes" a game played in Brittany. The older balls for this game are made of wood and the recent ones of resin.
I find it amusing that there is the same 'alarmist' graffiti in France as well in the US. The pointless welding that could easily be gone around makes me mad, too. Reno'ing this chateau is going to be a monumental task but it will be marvellous to save it. Those floors are stunning!
Sadie. Your lovely man seems to have both Brains, Brawn and talent ( and fabulous good looks) with an excellent sense of humor. And….. he plays the accordion. I did so as a teen. You two seem perfect for each other. Blessings. 🥰🥰. Your sweetheart gives me strong Viking vibes. Yummmmm 💕💗
I am bouncing with excitement because this place is so gorgeous and I know that the two of you together are going to make it even more amazing than it's been when it was first built. I'm so thrilled that it's actually going to be able to have an opportunity at a new life!
Sometimes in building arches can be 'relieving' arches for weight distribution. They are mostly seen on the exterieurs of old buildings and sometimes people confuse them with old bricked up opening.
The exploration is so exciting, and It's a good thing that the door was welded shut. The tiles you cleaned up are amazing. Thank you for today's video.❤
Stan protect your eyes from metal flakes getting in them We want you safe
Please, Stan!
Even in the current condition, you can see the beauty of this chateau. Thanks for bringing this old lady back to life.
In France, words have genders. Château is male. UN château, so he is an old boy...

Yes, safety for themselves and if anyone out there is planning on having someone come in to do work.. insist on the same. Be safe and be well!
Yes . I agree because you have no idea what they're breathing in. 😳😷
Absolutely wear safety equipment. The dust may have lead in it.
Agree - was freaked out with grinding without eye protection - one spark in the eye and its history
Another great video 😊 I agree. Eye protection Stan
Another vote for safety glasses and respirators being your next purchase.
Hearing protection also would not be a terrible idea😂
Yes ....almost 2025 and *still* people absolutely not caring for
their health (wellbeing) whilst knowingly working within absolutely
unhealthy surroundings. It can be seen across pretty much all the
social channels renovating, exploring, building +.
One vote for safety squint!
Your English is so much better than my French, I have so much respect for you presenting a video not in your native language, you come across really well on camera
It is a good thing that someone welded that door closed, it protected the furnace and some of the electrics.
We learned with Dan (Escape to Rural France) that brick arches don't always indicate a previous opening that has been blocked in. It seems masons and bricklayers use arches throughout a wall to add further stability to the overall structure of the wall.
Cheers!
Interesting to know thanks.

Then you can decided if it would be better with the fireplace open or return the mirror . Such a beautiful building and so great to see what you guys are doing.
We thought the same thing about the fireplace. Would be stunning!
Safety glasses a must and masks!
That old floor is lovely under the dirt. One day the chateau will be lovely.

The architecture of this chateau is breathtaking🤩
12:40 Dude, that cleaning cart is a stellar find. Will come in super useful. 😜😜
I'm excited to think of how glorious this chateau will be restored to its former glory. ❤
That home must have beautiful energy you are very lucky to have found it you guys are awesome people to restore the home 🎉🎉🎉🎉
Sadie, the tile in the staircase hall resembles the tiles from another Chateau I watch. Escape to rural France has that. He removed them from his entry hall as well to preserve them as he rebuilds the entire chateau
Love the tiles. And yes, I'm on the safety glasses and respirators bandwagon. :)
What a fabulous journey this is going to be!! Don’t forget to wear your masks while cleaning all areas.. 💜💜

So glad the mechanicals were under lock and survived. Hopefully, all will require minimal updating.👏🏻👏🏻
Fun! A new chateau to watch come back to life! Thanks, Billy for filming for your sister and Stan!
Please wear safety glasses when cutting metal. Love all the hidden places
You might need to raid your brother's convent for supplies.. He's got plenty.. 😂😂
Forget the junk ... I love the space !!! Once it is cleared and some of the cinder block partitions are removed, the original space will be amazing !!!
That was ***SO*** Fun. A whole new chateau to explore. 🧡

Omg the floor tiles are beautiful. Cant wait to see them all cleaned up. I like the chair too.X

Sadie, you’re not the most relaxed commentator, but it’s early days, and your lovely personality will win through….
It looks better with just a sweep see you both tomorrow ❤
That was a great rummage around the basement. Thanks for sharing. 😊🏴
Wear safety glasses! Metal in the eyes is no joke!
The TLC you are giving the old girl is already showing. Love the floor in the entry hall. ❤️😊
Those floor tiles are beautiful! ❤
❤ those floors are beautiful
There is Definitely Potential in that house!
A lot of hard work ahead but it is a gorgeous chateau and deserves to be restored to its former glory. Thanks Sadie and Stan. 🇨🇦❤️
OMG! Those floor tiles are stunning! 🤩 * hope they get to stay.
They had that metal door to keep all of that equipment safe! Good thing they welded that. I would get a lock on it as soon as possible
Just the beginning of discoveries.
The vintage chalkboard is a dream
Oh man, wish I lived closer....would love to help! This is going to be a beauty when she is restored! ❤
I just love you two!! Stan and Sadie keep doing what your doing you two bring a smile to my home
Gloves masks at least preferably respirators and safety glasses please please. Such fun watching the discoveries. So excited for you both.🫶🫶❤️❤️❤️🤣🤣
That is such a beautiful house. You all are so lucky to have such a beautiful treasure. Thank you all for sharing with us.
where the broken mirror is, could you please strip the plaster so that we may see what the probable fireplace looked like?
I love seeing the cleaning up of the debris! I have been itching to do that in spirit ever since you announced your purchase of the Chateau.
Shopping list: wheelbarrow, big stiff wide garden broom ( like Yannis uses), safety glasses., white bags for rubbish.
This is a massive undertaking, i know you are up for the task.
That’s what I was thinking, bless their hearts. It it’s going take millions and a lot of workers to get this place to where it’s even livable.
They can’t work with flashlights forever, and getting new electrics well, I hope they have a money tree in the back somewhere.

Your explorations are wild!
Keep safe, & keep Le Chateau de Mucky Manor episodes coming!
Beautiful floor in the hall great vlog thanks for sharing ❤
When I saw the white and black tiles, suddenly I went back 40 years ago (summer camp) when I used to arrive every morning in the lobby of the chateau. Thank you for sharing this video.
"...welding like a fly that poops." 😂 I'm really enjoying the French culture and personality that Stan brings to the videos!
Stan don’t get angry they were trying desperately to protect the building. Also Stan your knowledge of history and a multitude of subjects is amazing! Remember what ever sloppy it was done to save not destroy
There’s other ways to protect the building without ruining the current units that are installed
@ true. This building has been abandoned for 40 plus years. So the municipality did it the easiest way they saw fit over the decades to keep people from trashing it
The floor tiles are amazing
What a find in the basement. I loved the floor pattern where you were sweeping Sadie.
Beautiful tiles! And the height of that radiator is wild!
The mansion goes on forever, a lot of surprises, it's getting very exciting. Thank you for sharing.
Oh those floor tiles❤
The floor tiles are beautiful! It would be wonderful to keep as much original floor as possible. I imagine you will. This is exciting to watch 😊
Stan please protect your eyes with glasses when opening metal doors etc.
And ears too!
It's going to be a lot of grunt work and time. But your viewers know that and we will continue watching. 💪🏼 From America 🇺🇸
Aww, I do love the name of the Chateau, you can really see the potential in this building, even just after a sweep up, well done Sadie for letting us see that gorgeous floor! 🙏🤗xx

That woodworking under the welded windows/doors whatever they are is so beautiful
I gave up watching your other videos. I’m glad to see that you are happy
Those floors are amazing!
What an odd assortment of items behind the welded door. I suspect it was welded to protect the heating system. Who knows. Am loving your videos. Ty
Remarkable start, it was very interesting to see the new hidden room!
The tile is STUNNING 😍
Hello from Texas USA. Those floors are beautiful!
I find it amusing that there is the same 'alarmist' graffiti in France as well in the US.
The pointless welding that could easily be gone around makes me mad, too.
Reno'ing this chateau is going to be a monumental task but it will be marvellous to save it. Those floors are stunning!
The listing agency must have originally sealed it off after the last occupant died to keep the mechanicals safe from vagrants.
The tiles look lovely ❤
Yummmmm 💕💗

Oh, those tiled floors...wow...and what adventures lie beyond locked doors and crumbled walls...beyond exciting...!
The white poles you found in the basement are for volleyball !!! To support the net.
Wow! Lovely floor under the dirt! Keep safe ❤️
Wow - beautiful tiles!!
I was hoping that the sealed room contained priceless art and furniture.
Been waiting on this. 👍🙏🏻
Looks like you have a lot of help!!!! That’s awesome
Sadie you and Sam need to wear masks with all of that rat poop and old mold everywhere!
So interesting - thank you. Behind that broken mirror might be a relieving arch strengthening the wall. Just a thought.
What a great explore under the chateau. It's amazing what has been left behind.
Love how your subscribers are growing. Well done!!
So glad you're posting every day. Can't wait to see what you do next.
Unsure of your budget... but a new roof will cost a fortune!
I think you should keep him Sadie!😊
He has a great sense of humor
Sometimes in building arches can be 'relieving' arches for weight distribution. They are mostly seen on the exterieurs of old buildings and sometimes people confuse them with old bricked up opening.
That's it. It supports the base of the chimney, that's quite high
So much fun! I wish I could explore with you!
Hello from America! 🇺🇸
The tiles are beautiful! It's going to be beautiful when your done! Well done
Those floors are gorgeous.
The exploration is so exciting, and It's a good thing that the door was welded shut. The tiles you cleaned up are amazing. Thank you for today's video.❤
So exciting, to watch you both explore.
The big poles in the basement Stan said it’s for shutters. But it’s for Volleyball Nets
Super excited for this renovation! I love that yall are doing it! ❤
