    • @dj4monie

      With a turbo, all you need is to make sure the air going in isn't too hot and the exhaust is free-flowing. Since it's trailered and not driven it doesn't need an exhaust so the limit becomes fuel, internal engine strength and the turbo size. You can make a ton of power with stock engine, if you pay attention to what I just said and find a tuner who doesn't have a history of blowing up engines. The place NOT to cut corners is to who tunes your car or you can learn yourself.

    • @ddn79

    It all comes down to new technology.... The clutch, the engine management, the suspension, and it’s a straight axle car on drag radials. With those key components of today’s tech, any engine combo that makes this kind of horsepower and torque will run these kind of numbers. It will become a more common thing now that drivetrain technology and tunning software has caught up with just making big horsepower. Yes, this comment is a few days late... I guess I missed this video somehow. At least it will probably be the last comment!

But when it comes to the Gen 2 intake manifold, it's a really really good intake for boost. When you port match the runners and remove the roof to access the plenum, it does wonders for boosted airflow into the heads. What I want to know is Leroy still using a IRS?

    Atmospheric pressure @ sea level is 14.7 lbs per square inch. This has a direct effect on the engine because atmospheric pressure increases cubic inches every time it reaches another atmosphere. I ran my 1985 GPz 750 at 52 psi at the intake valve. Never ever take your boost pressure any place else because boost pressure matters most at the valve face NOT THE WASTE GATE. The intake charge going into the manifold does not flow straight down the pipe it swirls like a tornado. By straightening the intake charge coming off the turbo your boost pressure will start to compress on top of itself and you will find yourself needing stiffer valve springs. I had Vesra make me a set because back in the 80s no one had springs with the pressure I needed. I was making 400 hp touching the ground with an 810cc Kawasaki on C16 back in 85. In comparison to the LT1 in your car thats around 2500 hp. Its capable I just dont think you have figured it out yet.

      @B B They have discussed adding panels for aero. It's something he and his team seem to be set on doing at some point.

    • @ramlaen9473
      @ramlaen9473 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Aero isn't the issue, Leroy still makes more power than Grub Worm even accounting for what the extra drag saps on the back half. Once they get Leroy into power sooner his 1/8 mile will drop below 5 seconds, which will be a huge change to the 1/4 mile result.

    • @hillbillygarage1270
      @hillbillygarage1270 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@ramlaen9473 I think boost by speed will make a big difference, but I think you're underestimating the effect of drag. Leroy's drag coefficient is absolutely horrendous lol.

    • @ramlaen9473
      @ramlaen9473 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The drag isn't a big issue in the 1/8 mile where other cars are going .3-.4 seconds faster, aero will improve Leroy's 1/4 mile time but not by half a second.

    • @hillbillygarage1270
      @hillbillygarage1270 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ramlaen9473 No one said it would make a half second difference, unless I'm missing something. But with faster times comes higher trap speeds. The higher the speed, the more that drag will be hurting the car's performance. So the original commenter isn't wrong in saying that it will keep Leroy from being competitive. It's possible.

    IDK why people sleep on LT1's? My first car was a 96 Pontiac Firebird Formula it went 8.80s stock on street tires and .71 on a radial in the 1/8 and 7.80 stock with a little nitrous and 6.83 with a cam and converter and little spray then I broke the ringlands on a couple of pistons so I did a very basic rebuild bored 40 over reused the stock crank new GM forged rods basically the same rods that came from the factory arp rod bolts wiseco pistons with good wrist pins, Advanced Inductions most aggressive CNC porting package on my factory heads and intake (no LT4 intake) and the same nitrous outlet plate, oval mono blade TB ,headers and bolt ons the car had got rid of the 4l60 and went th350 w/ manual valve body and a 4000rpm PTC converter and a 12 bolt rear end from strange it went a best of 6.27 @ 107mph 1/8 mile back in 2009 a few months later a lady in a Tahoe ran a red light and t boned me broke my leg Then her insurance Bought me my 99 Z28 so it wasnt all bad lol
