      Mine is about to get a whole slew of parts, including, but not limited to, a cam, heads, headers, and a 24x kit to get rid of the opti. Fella I was talking with was saying it'll probably hang with a c5 vette when I'm done 😂

    Extremely underrated engines had 3 of these Camaros all 6spds I never had any optispark issues which I will add that on my 93 I rep water pump as soon as I noticed it dripping from weep hole.I coated the top with silicon just as a extra barrier.but as I said I never had issues theirs a lot of power to be had just doing a retune

    i ran a very similar combo 20 years ago in my 93 z28. sbe, self "ported" heads, 230/236, jet hot longtubes, stock throttle body, mail order tune based off of some other guys similar combo. never dynoed it, but it ran pretty good for what it was. comparable mph in the 1/8 with my 380whp ls1.

    nice to see that the LT1 is still alive. Had a LT1 back in the late 90's into the early 2000's. started with a LT4 hot cam, moved to a cc306 cam then ported LT4 heads and a GM847 cam. was a super fun car for the time. also had FBO LT's fuel mods 4:10's ect. enjoyed the vid

    I want to get my 94 Z28 out of storage, (no faults when stored, but it’s been a while), and just… tune it up.
    Could you point me to the best information sources?
    Top priority will be a manual swap. Mine is auto, 55,000 miles, indoors or under cover it’s entire life.

    Sweet car man! I have always been an LTX guy I had a 96 z28 a4 many years ago and for the last ten years have owned a bright red black hardtop 95 z28 m6 with a decent amount of mods done to it and the only thing on the motor is an under drive pulley which I’m not sure how much that does lol. I see you have the tick shifter how do you like it? I have a hurst in mine which I really like but didn’t know tick offered one now.

      Hurst is probabl the best. Regret buying a B and M and not a hurst way back when
      Super short throws but sometimes notchy other times not. If I hadnt sold my stock shifter id put that in over the ripper

      Yeah I used to have a B&M many years ago when I had an 02 z28 it was too notchy for my liking. The hurst is perfect I think it’s 40% shorter than the stock throw and it’s very smooth and not notchy. I recently got an adapter for my billet hurst and ordered a new stock leather knob and I love it!! I don’t think I will ever go back to the hurst traditional knob plus they always crack in like five places lol. I also used to have the leather hurst knob that came in the SLP cars but those things are ridiculously expensive now! I got the stock reproduction one for like 70$ that’s not terrible.

    what does it idle at? How does it drive around with that size of a cam? What was torque number? Can i see a graph? Sorry so many questions but i am loving this info and build, good dyno session to. So many other questions love this stuff and great video!

      Drives great. Idles at 800rpm. Torque was 380 as well.

    I know you said that the heads were stock. But did you change out the valve springs and did you go to a 1.6 rocker?

    280cfm head hotcam shorties is all thats needed to run 12s in Ca crap air
    Thought it was the coolest thing ever to see (when new) GM sold a drop in cam that could pass smog
    I hear it never went in the LT4 cars as it woulda made the new LS1 look bad .
    LT4 was GMs best sb ever. 4 bolt, steel crank, compression 195cc head..add a little cam timing you got a ripper

    I have a 94 6 speed as well. You didn’t do anything to your heads? And got 380hp with only cam and a few bolt ons??! Congratulations, I did heads cam and intake on my 98 z28 and only got 382 through an automatic

    I have a 96 Z28, 383 Stroker LT1. Using also the 0411 computer and it's a 96 Covette GS engine setup(heads, intake, 58mm TB, headers, etc). Havent sent it to the dyno yet and Im wondering if I need a larger MAF?

      You’ll have to see if your maf is maxing out. I can answer that with confidence without seeing some data.
      BUT from my experience and those mods, I’d say you’re safe with the stock maf.

    No head work at all? I have LE2 heads and 1.6 roller cam setup from llyod,, bigger injectors, throttle body fuel pump , i hit over 400 rwhp , getting ready to forge my bottom end and hit with a 100 shot , good video!! Any updates with her turbo setup ?

      On this setup, no head work at all.
      The turbo setup is sitting as I’m just busy tuning. It literally needs 2 small things.

    LTx and 3rd gen camaros have the best factory exh note
    360-380 is enough for 12s plenty fast for a st car. 12.50s from an LT4 hotcam

    Wish you were closer, Iv'e got a 93 camaro lt1, car has lost half of it's power overnight, no bottom end at all, on my ZUES scanner it shows timing at idle to be 22 degrees but when you step on it, it drops to 0-4 degrees, runs better ice cold, but when it hits closed loop and 200 deg. it acts like a 3cyl yugo

    Guy put in big hot cam with not only cam but 6.2 scorpians lol on 92 vette lt1
    stock exaust and big original cat lol hes running like crap wit burnt chip from nc
    has 36 inches of vac and missing on obd1
    Is it to much back pressure on exaust ?
    and do you tune that out ?
    never heard of big cam with stock cat exaust lol?
    and thats alot of over lap
    I heard burnt chips dont work
    cam is set at 4 degrees before tdc

    Your car sounds very healthy.
    I got the same car, color and all A4 97 SS. Fresh 355 forged, stock crank. Le2 heads and cam, intake ported.
    Aslo spraying 100 shot.
    Have been plagued by a missfire since i put it back together. #7 missfires.
    Ran a best of 12.4 @ 108 with misfire.
    11.99 at 114 with a 75 shot.

      Jet Hot long tube headers. Factory 2OTL 96/97 SS muffler and an electric cutout.

    Are those numbers after you figured prosthetic loss and added 20%? Because according to Hot Rod Magazine dyno numbers, the LT1 is down about 50hp from LS1. Richard Tested all 5.7s in the video. So how can this z28 make more HP then full bolt on and cammed LS1? (Before you used 100 shot). Ls1 with Stock 241 heads, full bolt ons and mid cam checks out to 420 WHP (roughly). Full bolts ons only, cat fish makes 350-360 whp. So why are your numbers so high ?

      A typical cam only LS1 will make 350-400whp
      I’ve hit 380whp with multiple cam only LT1 setups.
      The right combination will do it.

After TSP cam+Ported Dorman LS6 intake, my ls1 made 420whp. You are saying that LT1 makes more Hp? I’m just confused how you made over 400 with cam only

      Cam only is referred to as such with the supporting mods as well. So full bolt ons and cam.
      My valves never floated. I’m not sure what you’re referring to.

    trickflow elbow and throw away the air foil its blocking idle air hole
    its why ls1s run lt1s down
    my 97 z28 lt1 just keeps pulling away

      Actually it’s the LID setup with some pressure help. You can convert to a LS1 lid

    I really shouldn't comment but I have too because I love these cars, your destroying your engine and YT just said suggested. Point 1. Dynos destroy engines. Surely you can tell just from driving her if she's giving out more than before? Point 2.The MK4 takes ALL its cooling air and ALL it's intake air from under the front spoiler? That front spoiler and the plastic scoop thing under the rad is diverting air up into the rad and MAF at up to 180 mph? Those breeze fans are doing nothing at all, hood up and blowing down in the opposite direction to the designed air flow? And yes, I've ran and owned one of these for the last 7 years,... she's outside.
