Why reparations for slavery is realistic today

- Reparations are not a fairy tale. The U.S. has a long history of compensating groups for harm - even though they continue to deny reparations for descendants of enslaved Black people. In this video, we explore how normal it is for the U.S. to award reparations and how that precedent makes reparations for the Black descendants of enslaved people a reality today.
This piece features Harvard Professor Cornell William Brooks, a former president of the NAACP and a fourth-generation minister in the African Methodist Episcopal Church.
“Not only do we [the U.S.] have the expertise, we also have the resources, right?...So all we need to do is get our government to be as brilliant and innovative, as creative, when it comes to racial harms, as we've been with respect to nonracial harms.” - Cornell William Brooks

There’s already a precedent set that should clear the path for the U.S. government to award reparations for the descendants of enslaved Balck people. What do you think is the holdup?
This is a low IQ video.
Easy, Democrats have no intent to pay reparations. Just to gin up the vote
The holdup is the absolute confusing way of going about this, including who will be included in reparations, black Americans have moved around the country for a long time proving ancestry will be difficult, will the price of reparations be too high or too low, would that fix the problems of institutions in this country, will that give a pass to white Americans to say 'we already paid you quit complaining.' Ethically it's a great idea but to implement them would be a disaster.
@@Clabobo003 Simpler then that: Dems only want the votes and will never pass the bills to move forward particularly knowing cities owuld go bankrupt
Transfering such massive amount of wealth would be the worst logistical and practical solution ever taken.
Dividing the decendents of enslaved black people between deserving or undeserving of such reparations would not only divide american society but also black communities.
Africa should pay Reparations for selling you off in the first place
What address should I send my check to?
"My ancestors had to work to build this country and we inherited an Empire from them...where's my reparations?"
Ask the original African rulers whom sold the slave to Western Colonials. The original rulers are the ones who sold people into slavery
Apparently it takes next to nothing to get a PhD nowadays.🤦🏼♂️

Or not.
Have you or your parents or grandparents ever received any of the following. Food assistance programs IE food stamps. Welfare. Housing assistance such as government project housing section 8 etc.
Well congratulations you are someone you know has already claimed your reparations benefits.
They are a fairly tale. Living descendants of slaves do not deserve compensation for slavery they did not endure. Reparations have only gone to living survivors.
Isn’t there a thing called receiving stolen ‘property’?Meaning ,since the blacks were seen as chattel or property,in today’s time, you’d get a charge if you profit off of receiving something stolen.I myself wouldn’t want any worthless paper dollar only sovereignty and land and a televised speech declaring our sovereignty and having it ratified in the world’s countries’ constitution! No apologies or paper money needed!
@@mustafael-amin9163 People who never owned slaves should not compensate people who've never been enslaved.
@@hummingbirdofgumption3263 so you don’t think the wealth and access you enjoy due to centuries of free labor orchestrated by your ancestors doesn’t warrant the blacks’ ancestors getting the same. Its crazy but since this isn’t a perfect world, your answer WOULD be what it is!
Sooooo, does that mean you won’t accept the access and potential wealth afforded to you due to your ancestors enslaving people?
@@mustafael-amin9163 Assumptions assumptions.
Ask Kamala and Obama to pay
Cut that check
What happens if Kamala is bumped off of the ticket post-Biden in the next couple of weeks ?
