A small little Gamecube disk can hold Zelda 1, Zelda 2, Ocarina of time, and Majora's Mask. So they can't say that they couldn't squeeze all those Mario games in a Wii disk. Yeah, total laziness.
For the 30th anniversary of Mario: Have ALL the NES and SNES Mario games (even the Japan exclusives as unlockable content), all cleaned up and upscaled for 1080p with original NES graphics (SNES All Stars graphics as an option.) Throw in the Game Boy Mario Land games (colorized if you prefer, it's an option) and the Wario Land games as unlockables. ALL the Mario Kart games (put some on the second disc if you need to), and even Yoshi's Story and Cookie. Mario Picross games also, for the puzzle fans. Include soundtrack CD with the complete OST from every game on it (make it 2 or 3 discs if you need it). And also included is a hardback art-book with paragraphs on the Mario games' history written by people like Miyamoto, etc. All this stuff is packed in a hardcase similar to the Virtual Boy hardcase from Blockbuster, but with cool illustrations from every Mario game.
10 years on, and we get Super Mario 3D All-Stars, another slapped together (and only marginally better) compilation set that was only available for a limited time.
Honestly. This was really disappointing for Mario's 25th Anniversary . Thank god Nintendo gave Mario a better Anniversary treatment for his 30th anniversary title it was called Super Mario Maker.
+Super Gamer61499 ....too bad that was also lazy. People are making their own Mario maps and games for many past years. And those games are way more complicated that Mario Maker can ever do including changing textures, mechanics, positioning, whole system etc.
Bartosz Skorupa That wasn't lazy WTF are you talking about? If it was lazy that would mean it had no effort clearly man it has effort so you're talking out of your ass dude.-_- Besides it wasn't to make complicated levels it was just a way to make your own Mario levels and although it may lack a couple things but it is definitely not lazy dude.-_- Do you even know what that word means? I mean the 25th anniversary was really lazy dude it was just porting games from the All Stars version this at least had other things to make it great. So no it is not lazy and you're just bull shitting me man.-_- I get that it isn't for making complicated levels but you can still do some competent levels trust me man. I mean at least it gave *me* enough tools to keep me satisfied. And for all we know Nintendo could patch the game to give you more options.
Super Gamer61499 For what Nintendo could do with such concept - yes they are just as lazy as with this "25th". Minimalism options? Check. Limited hud and possibilites to do with it? Check. Slowpoke idea that should be done long ago? Check. Unfriendly hud and user interface? Check. Absurd price for such low content? Check. "Nintendo best product" FUCKING Check.
Bartosz Skorupa No they're not lazy.-_- I mean they did great with what they had and like I said any short comings could be fixed with a patch or sold as DLC. And keep in mind unlike the PC Consoles are very limited in a lot of ways.
It Could've Been Better If They Did A Sonic Super Smash 20th Anniversary Pack You'd Get All Of Autographed Comics Signed By Sonic Himself And Genesis Games And Sonic Adventure 2 Battle For GameCube And The World According To Sonic History Book
Worst thing about all this is, they could've put all versions of all the NES-64, and the reboots and probably more. Because of dual layer discs, like how Monster Hunter, or even Brawl. It really is a shame that they didn't go crazy with this idea and made something amazing. I have to say you really did point out a lot of things that made a lot of sense, and I'm glad you've made this video, and showed that Nintendo really did a misstep
Sonic Mega Collection Plus. Xbox Classic. It's sad that Sonic, a series that hasn't done well at all lately released a better collection compared to this. It had comics, unlockable games, and even two Non-Sonic related games. AND they did games from both the Genesis and Game Gear. It only had one readable comic, yes, but it DID have a bunch of comic covers that can be viewed. It had artwork too. It's...kinda sad really.
I am not at all a Nintendo hater. I'm merely pointing out that they could have done a better job is all. This isn't a strike against them or anything like that. It just could have been better is all.

Because limited runs of games are dumb and don't do anything other than making them incredibly hard to come by on second hand and it gives scalpers an excuse to overprice them when they become out of print
I was so disappointed with this game, because like you said, this was a lazy-ass cash grab on Nintendo's part. I mean seriously, Nintendo?? Ya done fucked up!!
They could at the very least have included the GBA versions of Super Mario Bros 1-3. Make it unlockable like after you beat Super Mario Bros 3 (SNES) for example then you get the GBA edition (they coud have included the NES versions as well) and so on and so forth.
Couldn't even be bothered to do a Modernized remake of Mario 1-3+LL? 16-bit was hot in 1993, but this is 2010. Giving the old games the "New" treatment or a modernized look wouldn't have hurt. It would've made the game hella more expensive, but this would be worth the price. It wouldn't have been completely awful if they had the Super Mario All-Stars + Super Mario World version of All stars, but apparently even that was too much to ask for of Nintendo. Happy 25th freaking Birthday, Super Mario.
I would have loved if they had the Mario episode of the old show "Icons" in there. My list of the games included should have been as follows: Donkey Kong, DK JR, Mario Bros, Super Mario Bros, Super Mario Bros SNES update, Super Mario 2, Super Mario 2 SNES update, Super Mario 3, Super Mario 3 SNES Update, Lost Levels, Super Mario Land, Super Mario Land 2, Super Mario World, Mario RPG, and Super Mario 64. That's the minimum that should have been in there.
I remember being so upset that Mario All-Stars was NOT included on the Wii's VC (and I don't know about Wii U or 3DS). Just another reason why I've kept my S.N.E.S. and my copy of All-Stars for all these years.
I feel Super Mario All Stars should just be ported as a virtual console release for Wii and Wii U. And Nintendo concentrate to do a much bigger project for Mario 25th anniversary back then. I don’t know, maybe a much bigger compilation for Mario and include lot of content similar to Sonic’s Mega Collection.
When I first started watching this, I thought you were gunna be some scary death metal guy who only plays really bloody games. Well sir, you have GREATLY changed my opinion. you are the ideal gamer and the gaming community sure does need more people like you. Game on bro! :)
As much as I enjoy having this as a collectible, I'm with you 100%. There's just so much more they could have done with it and the 25th anniversary of the most iconic franchise in video games deserves so much better.
They should've had quotes of bad times during making the game, (Mario 3) Miyamoto: Ate too much Sushi while directing this game, was feeling sick for 3 months while development. Shit like that :)
It was actually the 29th anniversary of Mario because he debuted in Donkey Kong (which apparantly doesn't count as a Mario game as far as many people I've met are concerned)
Feature that i would have like to have seen 1. More games, super mario world 1-2, dr mario, super mario 64,mario kart, donkey kong. 2. Trailers and commercials, e.tc from each mario games. 3. Mario comics 4. Intervjus 5. An 3d room, feature mario stuff, that you can walk around, and certain stuff can you press A on(Duke nuken style) 6. Mario fan made drawing 7. Unblockable games, Duck hunt working with wii remote, mario paint working with wii remote. 8. Documentary about nintendo and impact of mario. 9. Video feature an tour of the biggest nintendo shop. 10 .main menu( zelda collection style)
Even Sonic Mega Collection had artwork, more games & Comic Covers, which me & my friends spent HOURS looking through. We were mind-blown & it was amazing.
A Kirby 20th anniversary collection came out recently. It came with Kirby's Dream Land 1-3, Kirby's Adventure, Kirby 64, and Kirby Super Star. It also came with a couple episodes of Right Back At Ya!, a small orchestra in a music video, the history of Kirby, and an extra mode using the graphics and engine from Return to Dream Land. This is all for $40. When the same treatment can't be given to freaking Super Mario, somebody isn't doing something right.
They should have added games that showed the variety of mario games over the years, mario 1-3, lost levels, super mario world, legend of the seven stars, mario kart, mario 64, mario tennis, mario paint (would be great with wii, im actually suprised a wii version has not been made yet. Submitting idea for 'Wii Paint with Mario' now!) I liked your ideas for the content. comics, interviews, super show clips, would have been a perfect way to fill up the disc and give the fans what they deserve.
single layered Wii disc holds 4.7 GB mario 1: 31.29 kB mario 2: 76.67 kB mario 3: 223.32 kB mario all stars: 930.93 kB Super Mario Kart: 340.32 kB Mario RPG: 2.52 MB Kart 64: 8.60 MB Party 1, 2 and 3: 68.83 MB Kart DD: 1.23 GB 64 DS: 11.47 MB Thousand Year Door: 1.07 GB Party 4: 1.09 GB Strikers: 1.06 GB Party 7: 1.20 GB total: 4.51 With plenty of room for savestates, and maybe slight improvements in things
I agree with you 100%. That sad thing is, is that the on-screen instructions in All-stars wii shows an SNES controller on it. They didn't even have the effort to replace the snes controller with a wii.
All-Stars also fixed some glitches, & when breaking blocks in SMB1, Mario continues jumping up after hitting a brick block, instead of quickly landing back on the ground.
I ran out of space but even a retrospect documentary bonus DVD on how Mario came to be and how it became popular etc would have been a great addition for fans.
Your gaming collection is just as impressive as to the knowledge you have on what fans want, man. You should be working w/ (not FOR) Nintendo or Sony on their creative dept or as a PR manager.
@Thingsthatgoboom97 Not to mention all the other cool stuff. Re-release of out of print soundtracks (well, not the FULL soundtracks, but still appreciated), the first US-SEGA sponsored fan event, a demo for Generations months ahead of release, what looks to be the best port of a singular Sonic title to date (Sonic CD), a fantastic toy line as far as the Classic characters are concerned...the list just keeps going. This has been one of the best years for Sonic, since, well, ever.
Want to know how to compare this best to? Princess: Mario i made you a birthday cake * pulls in a large tray with top * Mario: Mamma Mia that looks great * The princess takes the top off and Mario sees a tiny cake hidden under the huge tray just full of air *
Even add a bunch of smaller games as extras like Mario's Missing and things like that (making sure to add the originals from Allstars with the origial graphics). Then an interactive disk with the history of Mario mentioning every Mario game ever made that's licensed by Nintendo with descriptions and screenshots and some trivia. And last but not least, a MUCH better soundtrack.
That's a good point, the only thing that disappointed me about the Sonic Mega Collection was that it only had one full comic and then just had the covers of the rest of them.
Also those worldwide concerts, Hyrule Historia, Ocarina of Time 3D (already far better than anything Mario got for his 25th anniversary save SMG2), Four Swords Anniversary Edition, a Zelda-themed level in Super Mario 3D Land, and Link's Awakening being re-released on 3DS Virtual Console.
I'm a huge fan of Nintendo as well as a huge fan of Sega. And for what Sega is doing for Sonic's 20th anniversary is a HELL of a lot better for what Nintendo did for Mario. Sonic Generations shows levels derived from 20 years of Sonic's existence spanning through three generations which are 'Classic, Dreamcast & Modern' and they can be played by both Classic Sonic and Modern Sonic. Also there's a hell of a lot more content being put into the game. THAT is what you call an anniversary collection.
And to add on this, They could've put a few games as unlockables like Super Mario RPG, Super Mario Kart, Mario Kart 64, Mario Party, hell even Luigi's Mansion. Like what Sonic did with Dr. Robotnik's Bean Counter.
I totally agree with this rant. Hell, they could have just released All-Stars on VC for eight bucks. Adding insult to injury... The ROM for All-Stars on SNES is 2.5 MB. If a DVD's maximum size is 4.7 GB (or 4812.8 MB (4.7 * 1024)), then potentially, there is as much as 4810.3 MB (4.69 GB) remaining space that sits unused on that disk. ...Wow.
I agree with this. Granted, I haven't played Super Mario All Stars, but paying 30 dollars for a glamorous case, a soundtrack with one song from each game, and a history book with single worded text? Not sure if I wanna buy..
They should have worked with a company they have a licensing agreement with like first 4 figures and done a collectible statue or something. This was absolutely one of the biggest missteps from Nintendo and there is no excuse for it.
I have to admit I didn't know about the Mario Super show until several years after it aired since when it originally aired I was only a baby since I was born in 88 and the show aired in 89...
Yeah, and AlphaOmegaSin just hit the nail on the head with this rant. Obviously this is a year after the 25th Anniversary of Mario, but we still have a year and a half to go with the 30th Anniversary of the Super Mario Bros. Like Sega and Sonic Team with Sonic Generations, I want to see Nintendo make a 3D game that commemorates 30 years of Mario Bros. history, but different, not ripping off Sonic Generations. Well, again, there's time, so hopefully Miyamoto and the crew cooks up something great.
Reminds of when Capcom put out the Resident Evil "Archives" Series, which were simply direct ports of the Gamecube versions of Resident Evil and Zero with Wii-mote support, plus a $30 sticker price slapped on it even though it had no new core features, no extras, or widescreen support. You'd think when these companies put out a collection, they would I dunno, actually take the time out to give these triple-A franchises their due justice to the fans, but no that's clearly asking too much.
They should have had a Super Mario Historia hardcover book to go along with the game when preordering your copy of it, along with the games that were on there, they should have included Super Mario World, Super Mario Yoshi's Island, Mario 64, Mario Sunshine (Doki Doki Panic for unlockable bonus game). They could have had a 25th Anniversary ANTHOLOGY! Every month, Nintendo could have put out a new volume of the anthology to make people buy into the marketing and anticipation of wondering what they were going to put out next for the anniversary series. All those that I mentioned would be Volume One, then Volume Two could have been ALL the Super Mario Land games that were on the Gameboy, Super Mario RPG, ALL the Paper Mario games, and the 2 Mario Galaxy games. (Dr. Mario and Yoshi's Cookies as unlockable games.) Volume Three could have been ALL the Mario Kart Games on one cd, (Mario Kart games from the Gamboy Advance and DS could be unlockable games). Volume Four could have been ALL the Mario Party Games (Mario's Missing and Mario's Time Machine as unlockable games). Then Volume Five could have been ALL the Mario Tennis, Baseball, and Golf Games (Luigi's Mansion as an unlockable game!) Such a waste...
Sonic's 20th Anniversary got a full fledged game. I need a "Mario Generations" with HD levels from Super Mario World, 64, Sunshine, Galaxy, etc. Would love that.
i completely agree with you, when i first got that game i felt the same way that it felt like super mario all stars and the music cd was ok but now that i think about it, it could have been alot better infact the whole thing could have been better, im always a nintendo fan but i really think they should listen to there fans more often cuz i really hope the new nintendo system is better and every new game that comes out
rant wasn't nearly as angry as I expected this anniversary collection was just an absolute insult to their premier flagship franchise, and it unfortunately served as a foreshadow for many stupid and shitty nintendo decisions to come
I agree fully. I was going to buy it as well till I saw what you got for the price. I didn't know about SNES Mario All Stars was free with a mail-in. I traded some pokemon cards with a friend to get mine. Mario rocks and deserves better then he got thanks for your words for the guy. Keep it up
Honestly they should have included every game Mario appeared--and had a major role--in up to the 25 anniversary special's release, as well as the games' soundtracks, concept art for each game and select other goodies, such as a behind-the-scenes documentary telling more of Mario's story. Sure it would have been somewhere between two to six discs (depending on what went into it and how much was packed onto the disc/s) but the 25th anniversary edition would be worth the 30 bucks then.
1. 5-6 disks?! That would NOT be $30!! Plus it would scare off the casuals (The Wii catered to casuals). 2. That idea would make Virtual Console obsolete 3. Having EVERY game Mario appeared in would mean including games like Punch-Out!!, Mario Teaches Typing, Mario Is Missing, Luigi's Mansion, etc. This is a TERRIBLE idea. 4. What it SHOULD'VE been is everything already included on the disk, plus Super Mario Land 1+2, Super Mario World, Super Mario 64, and maybe Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island. And that's just the games. A museum similar to Kirby's 20th Anniversary, were player can view box art, and even digital versions of the original manuals. 5. Maybe a separate disk for FMV interviews, behind the scenes, and hundreds of music files from old/new Mario games.
@buubzu in no universe do copies of mario games go for hundreds of dollars, not on the nes, snes, gba, and the virtual console. which all the games that are in this package collection here are presently available. you're extremely satisfied for a rom of super mario all stars, cause that's what nintendo sold everyone
Every Mario game, with improvements and maybe some trophies The majority of the soundtrack from all the games extras/unlockables from beating the games, such as the comics, giving information behind their decisions, artwork All for $60 dollars on 1-2 discs.
Thank god they DID put effort into the Zelda 25th Anniversary. Between Hyrule Historia, the Skyward Sword box with the golden Wii remote and music disc, and other events I felt the love for the series. I didn't even know about this anniversary disc existed. And even though everyone knows Mario, I hate to think that someone who never understood why the old Mario games are praised so much, bought this disc hoping to see the appeal of Mario only to find a lazy compilation and lackluster book.
Yeah, I got the anniversary thing, too. What sucks is that Sonic had a better 20th birthday than Mario's 25th. If anything, Nintendo should have used the New Super Mario Bros. Engine to recreate all the games on the All-Stars pack.
And if everything you pointed out wasn't enough they claimed it was a limited edition. Then after all us collectors bought it they rerelease it and f*** up all it's value.
On Super Mario Bros. 2 I was always told that the original one was going to be too difficult for us over here. So they took a different game and made that Super Mario Bros. 2.
25th Anniversary SHOULD have contained ALL Mario games before Galaxy. They can fit all versions, graphic styles and regions even. Even Sunshine could have fit on the disc, as the GameCube opticle disc only fits under 2GBs in total. Metroid Prime Trilogy fits 2 GameCube games and a full Wii game on to one disc, so there isn't any excuse.
that was the only reason i bought this was because it was limited edition. i have only opened the soundtrack so far, and the actual game is still sealed.
To think that Sonic is getting a better anniversary celebration than mario ever did. Sonic so far has generations coming soon on ps3 and 360, he has merchandise like figures and the comics. He even had a concert dedicated to the 20 years he's been through. So what happened? Clearly Sega knows how to treat their mascot
I went to Kmart a couple of years ago and got this and it was $40 plus tax! At first I was psyched to see this.. but then once I saw that it was only Super Mario All-Stars on a disc with a little book and a few songs I was furious! 40 freakin' dollars for a game that could have had way more but didnt
For games who still have a SNES and the original All stars it's not a must buy but for everyone else, especially people who didn't enjoyed the games on NES or SNES it's one of the best game of this generation for its price.
For Mario's Anniversary Nintendo lazily ported his old games onto a disc, For Sonics Anniversary Sega put out an entirely new game celebrating 20 years of the blue blur, a gane that was actually great. Yeah..something was very wrong here lol
I want to hear from Miyamoto himself what was the process of making Zelda,Mario,DK and how that he become so big,why is he still mascot of nitendo and "better" then other mascots in gaming(Sonic,Alex Kidd,Crash Bandicoot...etc)
@AlphaOmegaSin I can totally relate to this. Mario was the largest franchise ever created. Even people who have never picked up a controller know who he is. The fact that they put such little effort into this landmark is ridiculous. When a company shows that they give a shit about the things they make and have a strong passion for their titles, than the fans know that they are being cared for. With the little fan service that they gave for that, it shows that they could be better and more caring
I remember seeing this in the store when it came out and thought "Oh sweet... wait it's just Mario all stars... not even all stars plus that included Super Mario World, fuck that noise." and tossed it back onto the shelf.
My problem isn't that it was a port. My problem was that it was limited edition. I never owned a Nintendo system until a Wii, and would have prefered to have SMAS because it can save the games. I can never finish any of the games in one go, and have therefore not have been able to beat it. I'm very grateful for Virtual Console for this.
Dude you hit the nail right on the head...I had NO desire to get this when i heard that its basically the EXACT same game I already have for the SNES...Whats even worse is that they made a Mario All Stars+Super Mario world bundled together for the SNES later on and didnt even bother to put in that version...And I agree about the extras, it just doesnt seem worth it...I will NEVER buy this unless i see it for 10 bucks which will never happen since people went nuts for this...Makes no sense
To be fair, Super Mario Galaxy 2 came out in the same year as its series' anniversary, which is rather something considering how much fanservice that game has.
A small little Gamecube disk can hold Zelda 1, Zelda 2, Ocarina of time, and Majora's Mask. So they can't say that they couldn't squeeze all those Mario games in a Wii disk. Yeah, total laziness.
Haha they half assed it
Truttle Bear dont forget that windwaker demo
I know your comment is 2 years old but please hear me out. You forgot to mention A Link To the Past and Master Quest fit on there too.
myst9900 alttp was on that disc I don't remember that ?
It isn't.
They could of at least upgraded it with new mario bros wii graphics
For the 30th anniversary of Mario: Have ALL the NES and SNES Mario games (even the Japan exclusives as unlockable content), all cleaned up and upscaled for 1080p with original NES graphics (SNES All Stars graphics as an option.) Maybe they could release the 3d Mario games in one cartridge in his 35th anniversary.
Super Mario Sunshine will be forever my favorite mario game.
I feel you.
Also New SMB 2.
And SM World. Those are my favourites.
Yep Super Mario 64 Kicks Ass.
"Yah it was a pretty awesome game."
-Shigeru Miyamoto on Super Mario World

Sonic Generations was a better anniversary game

Sega is a better company in any ways Nintendo is. Look at the garbage handhelds for example. Don't buy it!
Alucard8319 STFU you're just Nintendo hater.
I am not at all a Nintendo hater. I'm merely pointing out that they could have done a better job is all. This isn't a strike against them or anything like that. It just could have been better is all.
***** you STFFU loser! What are you? 12 year old? A true gamer will see the faults of every company. Sorry bout it
SpeederTheHedgehog exactly. some people will never give in. They prefer to stay blind
Mario 25th anniversary: Rerelease the all stars pack
Zelda 25th anniversary: A brand new installment to the series (skyward sword), the soundtrack, and a zelda theme wiimote.
Metroid 25th anniversary: Nothing
Mario 30th anniversary: Super Mario Maker
Zelda 30th anniversary: Twilight Princess HD, crappy hyrule warriors port to 3DS, Breath of the wild (delayed to zelda's 31st year)
Metroid 30th anniversary: Federation Force, AM2R gets shut down.
True
Sonic 25th anniversary, anyone?
3ds Hyrule Warriors was not that bad imo. I was able to enjoy it for what it was. I mean I still have not done everything in it yet.
MasterGameplay I guess the wait was worth for Metroid.
You forgot that for the Zelda 25th anniversary special Wii Shop Channel And DSI Shop Cards and an exclusive port of The Legend Of Zelda: Four Swords for 3DS and DSI that was being given away for free at the time.
I agree completely.
I think some of the things they should include for the Super Mario Bros. 30th Anniversary (2015) are:
The games included in this version of course
Super Mario World
Super Mario 64
Super Mario Sunshine
New Super Mario Bros.
Super Mario Galaxy
other great Mario Games
The Mario Mania book (or something like what they did with Hyrule Historia)
Some Mario comics, tv shows, artwork, etc
Interviews with the developers
Some of the things similar to what Sega did with Sonic Mega Collection
Maybe some info on future Mario games
Some kind of special plush, figure, or something
Amazing Soundtrack CD (with a lot more than just 10 random songs)
Special Poster
Kirby's Dream Collection makes up for this
Concept art is always really cool or to even see demo footage of stages that never made it, enemies etc
10 years later, we get something better! Only problem is the “limited time” thing
*worse
9 years later we are getting Super Mario 3D All Stars and yet there's a lot of complaints because of it being available for a limited time.
Because limited runs of games are dumb and don't do anything other than making them incredibly hard to come by on second hand and it gives scalpers an excuse to overprice them when they become out of print
Rightfully so. It makes no sense.
I was so disappointed with this game, because like you said, this was a lazy-ass cash grab on Nintendo's part. I mean seriously, Nintendo?? Ya done fucked up!!
Same here dude this dissapointed me to because I'm a big Nintendo fan
Sage alpha at it again. 10 years later, history repeats.
With how much Alpha ripped "Super Mario All-Stars" on the Wii to shreds, I'd hate to see his reaction to "Super Mario 3D All-Stars" on the Switch.
They should've had quotes of bad times during making the game,
(Mario 3) Miyamoto: Ate too much Sushi while directing this game, was feeling sick for 3 months while development.
Shit like that :)
+King Kazma LOL take my money
+King Kazma That would've been awesome lol
It was actually the 29th anniversary of Mario because he debuted in Donkey Kong (which apparantly doesn't count as a Mario game as far as many people I've met are concerned)
Feature that i would have like to have seen
1. More games, super mario world 1-2, dr mario, super mario 64,mario kart, donkey kong.
2. Trailers and commercials, e.tc from each mario games.
3. Mario comics
4. Intervjus
5. An 3d room, feature mario stuff, that you can walk around, and certain stuff can you press A on(Duke nuken style)
6. Mario fan made drawing
Submitting idea for 'Wii Paint with Mario' now!)
I liked your ideas for the content. comics, interviews, super show clips, would have been a perfect way to fill up the disc and give the fans what they deserve.
you have so many rant video's compared to just casual video's, it's awesome XD
I would have liked something like the GC Megaman collection. if I remember right it had 1-8 and an arcade game or something.
Tristan Magni yep.
Also include the Mario comics from the 90s.
thankfully kirby got better treatment...
single layered Wii disc holds 4.7 GB

mario 2: 76.67 kB
mario 3: 223.32 kB
mario all stars: 930.93 kB
Super Mario Kart: 340.32 kB
Mario RPG: 2.52 MB
Kart 64: 8.60 MB
Party 1, 2 and 3: 68.83 MB

64 DS: 11.47 MB
Thousand Year Door: 1.07 GB
Party 4: 1.09 GB
Strikers: 1.06 GB
Party 7: 1.20 GB
total: 4.51
With plenty of room for savestates, and maybe slight improvements in things
I agree with you 100%. That sad thing is, is that the on-screen instructions in All-stars wii shows an SNES controller on it. They didn't even have the effort to replace the snes controller with a wii.
Sonic Generations is amazing.
All-Stars also fixed some glitches, & when breaking blocks in SMB1, Mario continues jumping up after hitting a brick block, instead of quickly landing back on the ground.
I ran out of space but even a retrospect documentary bonus DVD on how Mario came to be and how it became popular etc would have been a great addition for fans.
what about the other version of super mario allstars that included super mario World
SEGA knows how to do a 20th anniversary with sonic generations!!!
They weren't thinking. It literally took one day to think of it.
Want to know how to compare this best to?
Princess: Mario i made you a birthday cake * pulls in a large tray with top *
Mario: Mamma Mia that looks great
* The princess takes the top off and Mario sees a tiny cake hidden under the huge tray just full of air *
I know this video is 4 years old, but that's why I chose the red Wii for the 25th anniversary lol.
I totally agree with this rant. Hell, they could have just released All-Stars on VC for eight bucks. Adding insult to injury... The ROM for All-Stars on SNES is 2.5 MB. If a DVD's maximum size is 4.7 GB (or 4812.8 MB (4.7 * 1024)), then potentially, there is as much as 4810.3 MB (4.69 GB) remaining space that sits unused on that disk.
...Wow.
Did you notice on the brawl cover Link was at the front of the cover whereas Mario was more in the background.
I agree with this. Granted, I haven't played Super Mario All Stars, but paying 30 dollars for a glamorous case, a soundtrack with one song from each game, and a history book with single worded text? Not sure if I wanna buy..
As I watch this, it reminds me that Sonic Mega Collection Plus, but had a way more games and had some extras, just no History stuff or old artwork.
Then Volume Five could have been ALL the Mario Tennis, Baseball, and Golf Games (Luigi's Mansion as an unlockable game!) Such a waste...
even my grandparents played super mario brothers on the super nintendo and they are in their early 80's
Look at Kirby's 20th!
Sonic's 20th Anniversary got a full fledged game. I need a "Mario Generations" with HD levels from Super Mario World, 64, Sunshine, Galaxy, etc. Would love that.
i completely agree with you, when i first got that game i felt the same way that it felt like super mario all stars and the music cd was ok but now that i think about it, it could have been alot better infact the whole thing could have been better,
im always a nintendo fan but i really think they should listen to there fans more often cuz i really hope the new nintendo system is better and every new game that comes out
rant wasn't nearly as angry as I expected
this anniversary collection was just an absolute insult to their premier flagship franchise, and it unfortunately served as a foreshadow for many stupid and shitty nintendo decisions to come
It woulda' been rad if they put every/most of the official Nintendo Mario titles on this disc. They really did half-ass this project
There is a deep scratch on my friends copy of this game and nothing was damaged
I agree fully. I was going to buy it as well till I saw what you got for the price. I didn't know about SNES Mario All Stars was free with a mail-in. I traded some pokemon cards with a friend to get mine. Mario rocks and deserves better then he got thanks for your words for the guy. Keep it up
I actually based the size I stated off of ISO sizes for various games, so the size I gave was more of a rough estimate than anything.
2. That idea would make Virtual Console obsolete
They will get 80's wrong so they better not make video game collection back from the Awesome 80's.
Every Mario game, with improvements and maybe some trophies
The majority of the soundtrack from all the games
extras/unlockables from beating the games, such as the comics, giving information behind their decisions, artwork
All for $60 dollars on 1-2 discs.
You should REALLY make more videos with THIS calmness to your tone and volume. Your point comes across far better this way
Thank god they DID put effort into the Zelda 25th Anniversary.
At least Zelda's 25th anniversary is giving us that gold Wiimote; it really does seem worthwhile as a collectible item.
Why won't people realize that Iwata and Miyamoto are not the ones who actually make the games.
For Mario's Anniversary Nintendo lazily ported his old games onto a disc, For Sonics Anniversary Sega put out an entirely new game celebrating 20 years of the blue blur, a gane that was actually great. Yeah..something was very wrong here lol
mario 64 and mario rpg and mario 2 were my favorite. :)
For the 30th anniversary
So on ebay right now (In Australia) someone wants $1000 for the game.
...
They have sold 39 copies.
...
That's over $39,000 after including postage!
There isn't much you can really do other than be disappointed.
What makes this rant even more powerful is that you are so calm. You're clearly very disapointed!
I happen to agree on every point.
It was the limited edition's Gold Wiimote that was the celebration piece. I got it and I must say it's nice, and was well worth the extra $20.
To be fair, Super Mario Galaxy 2 came out in the same year as its series' anniversary, which is rather something considering how much fanservice that game has.
