  • Large front garden makeover with 13 hydrangeas and a large concrete fountain converted into a planter. Homeowner diy gardening, south New Jersey, zone 6b. Garden design in the front yard.
    It took my husband about one and a half weeks to complete this garden from start to finish. One year later, all the plants survived their first winter and we are excited to see what the future brings!

    I don't know they had climbing Black Eye Susan's. Love your fountain and combination of plants!❤

      Yes, the flower is a bit different and they are annual in our zone 6b. They grow really fast but do not flower much in part sun (which is most of our garden). The vine is pretty on its own though.

    You have such a beautiful garden! It does remind me a little of a park. I'm stuck with those old-fashioned Tiger Eye Day Lily's. They spread like crazy! I wouldn't mind a few but the amount they have turned into is outrageous!!

      Thank you so much! Yes, we are constantly pulling them up and giving them away to anyone who wants them lol.

    It looks great! How did everything do over the winter? Any casualties?

    • @planttasticcookinggardenin1561
      @planttasticcookinggardenin1561  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Will Aerley Thank you! Everything made it through the winter with no casualties 😂 It looks amazing and definitely doesn’t look like a garden that’s only been here for a year. I built this garden on top of grass. The plants seem to love it. I can’t wait for the hydrangeas to begin blooming. Hopefully I’ll get a garden tour done soon.

    I love the formal, yet friendly design. Where did you get your small birdbath from? I 💗 it!

      Thank you, we are really happy with it! The birdbath came from our local concrete seller gardencreationsnj.com/

    Love the fieldstone. Always inspirational!❤️❤️❤️
    Question how do you buy the fieldstone. Do you grab them in bulk? And keep them for projects or do you grab them as you go?

    • @planttasticcookinggardenin1561
      @planttasticcookinggardenin1561  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you! We do both and it depends on the project. Most of the time we buy full pallets but lately we have been very specific about what we want and have been choosing the rocks individually.

    In the fountain did you use potting mix? What about drainage?

    • @planttasticcookinggardenin1561
      @planttasticcookinggardenin1561  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes we used potting mix and drilled holes in it for drainage. Drill slowly while spraying water on the cement.
