Educative video about how to adjust ignition-time the static way. Respect. I prefer dynamic. Means: "F"-mark (Fire) at idle. Mark without a letter (max advance) lined up above 3000 rpm (using a Strobo). If earlier, springs of Governor are worn.
I had a TT500 E (yellow) when I was sixteen ( not yesterday) in New Zealand, I loved it , and wish I hadn't sold it, anyway It had lights and I rode it to my job , often It wouldn't start in the morning and I soon realized that it was because of condensation on the contact points , and on a few occasions I had to be damn fast drying them so as not to be late for work , I figured out it happened because it would be cold overnight and in the morning the sun was on the points side of the motor. I had to figure out something to prevent this , so what I came up with was really simple, I cut out a piece of thin cardboard the same shape as the points cover and pressed it into the inside , the cardboard got the condensation instead of the points, worked perfectly.
Hello, good questions. I could not remember what I torqued them to so I looked in my manual. It says 7.2 ft.-lb in a crisscross pattern. I am sure that is what I followed. I have broken a post off in a clutch boss before tightening these clutch plate screws so I try to be super careful when removing and installing them. I did not use any sealant, just the gasket and have had no issues with it on this bike. Thanks for the comment.
Thanks! got my points to open on F of comp stroke but doesnt seem to break continuity- using same meter as you - new ! with a new battery, maybe need to alligator clip it as I am trying to hold probes and turn flywheel
Hi! At first , I wish you a bright year. The cont.breakers slide on the plate. I set them on F point 0,35 and after few kick start at the same point are closed.bye

Another quick question please. Did you use sealant with a new gasket or just the gasket alone? Thanks in advance

Hello. I purchased a used on off of eBay and I think I found a free pdf one on carlsalter.com. Download at your own risk 😁.

Hi! IF TIMING IS NOT ALIGNED WITH THE FLYWHEEL ( F mark) ,HOW CAN I ADJUST IT ? WITH CHAIN TENSIONE ?THANK.
What is the measurement for the points gap?
It should be 0.3mm - 0.4mm
Lol The whole reason I watch this video was to get the measurement on the points gap. Wow.
Title "Points gap. . ."
What was that Points Gap again?
I believe around .35mm but would need to check my manual to be sure.
@CK-Cycles seems mine is breaking a quarter turn after the F mark, maybe because I'm using a digital multimeter?
