Hey how can I contact you your friend recommended you I have an issue with my kx450f I was wondering if you were willing to help
Nice
Not sure but all my comments are gone in the last few videos they may all be gone
@@cainbeeping8480 hmm, that is strange.
Nice job brother
CB700SC not SG, otherwise i enjoy your videos, thanks for posting them
Yep, mistake. Corrected, thanks.
We gonna ride wheeeeeee. Looks great Chris.
Imo, those castellated rings on the steering stem should be a lot tighter than you have them. Looks as though they are too loose and this is dangerous condition.
Thanks for the comment. I think I may post a quick video showing how I tighten those down.
Nice work Chris.
Thanks.
Nice work Chris, my hat is off to you, working on those big machines. But sure enjoy watching you do it. Guess a 400 dirt bike is about my limit LOL.
Like your 400 engine, this Honda popped up on me unexpectedly! Sometimes the ones we don't expect are the most fun. The bigger road bikes have been coming my way lately but I have a DT250 sitting here I need to get to. I appreciate your comment and will watch your progress on the 400. If some of you on my channel are not familiar with Dale, check out his excellent work: th-cam.com/video/MpSau6pL--I/w-d-xo.htmlsi=gVS_8qLiUoFZ7hNB.
Nice , well done without tearing everything apart, mine sounds like that too turns over and thats about it ,was running before tho
How can I get top dead with pull starter not working?
Good question and I do not know. I hope someone on here will chime in.
Hi! Wht did you set needle from 1 lean to 5 rich ? Bye
@@Claudio-si7iw I believe I put mine in the middle. I am not sure what the stock setting is.
Here's another visual indication (personal video) of someone instructing others & leaving a very critical item unmentioned. All TT/XT 500's were designed with a ratchet release on the kicker assembly! Proper procedure (when starting) is to kick it fully through the kicker stroke & HOLD THE KICK LEVER LOCKED AGAINST THE FOOT PEG - IT CANNOT KICK BACK (unless some monkey wrench screwed with the kick starter & botched it up. Owners manual states starting procedure including this design. Guess nobody can find one (maybe look on the Internet?) or can't read.
Thank you for the comment. Perhaps if I should decide to do another XT500 starting video, I will got into more detail on the ratchet wheel guide.
👍
Chris. You constantly make truly professional and educational videos. Best mechanic ever ……………

Excellent video. You are a badass working with a wounded finger that smooth. I'm fixing to do this to my 96. I hope it is noticeable for me. I need to tame my 96 CR5.It has a flywheel weight and is still a little overwhelming at times in the woods. I'm 68 and it's a little too much for me. Can't afford to hit trees anymore. I have an auto clutch. So I can't hold my sprocket. I air impact my flywheel off. I know I shouldn't. I'm scared of cracking a piston with a piston stop.Never tried one.
Different machines but a lot of the same struggles. Oh, the vintage bike hobby! Nice work and filming Chris.
great job troubleshooting, a job is never too simple to skip the fundamentals even if you have a suspicion. well explained! I probably wouldn't leave it at this point, knowing the carb was already at the point of float stickage we can safely assume its varnished in the jets and upwards too. best move is to tell the owner it needs disassembly and cleaning so they don't end up back at the shop in another couple of months! I've found the rincons to be more resistant than the old foreman 450s to carb problems, 24000kms on mine which is a 2003 model. it lives outside and doesn't get ridden for months at a time never going through a full tank and I've only once had to do a thorough cleaning when it wasn't delivering fuel well.
The airbox struggle is real! I have an '84 in blue, and am currently giving her new paint and decals, just today put on the rear grab bar assy. For the clearcoat and wind screen, i am using 3m finesse it 2 for the final polish, really happy with it. Can't wait to get her out this spring! Thanks for the vids!
@@geoffreyabegg4474 thanks for the comment!
I'm actually going through that struggle now, where I stepped away & moved on to taking the instrument panel out to polish the haze off the plastic. Your coming along, really enjoy watching.
Thanks for the comment and thanks for watching. What are you using to polish the haze?
@CK-Cycles Meguiar's PlastX & sponge polishing cones on a drill. I've done it in multiple stages, has been working pretty well but still has some haze. I'm going to continue till I can remove what's left.
@@andrewfarrant198 Thanks for the pointer!
Awesome shirt! Great video too.
Chris, where is the video of you putting this engine back together?
@@donbridgewater2988 good question. I should probably start putting it back together.
FUNNY at the end of the video when the throttle stuck wide open and he crashes through the chicken coop with all the feathers....
Hi! At first , I wish you a bright year. The cont.breakers slide on the plate. I set them on F point 0,35 and after few kick start at the same point are closed.bye
Question for you, has it been sitting for an extended period of time & have you changed the oil? Mine sat for about 5 years, the second time I had mine running, I got it hot enough to do a complete oil change.
@@andrewfarrant198 good questions. Yes, it sat for several years and was stuck in 5th gear. I did not show it but it has a fresh oil change and filter. Once I get it rolling for a few miles and run it through all 6 gears, I will change the oil again.
Awesome work once again Chris! What are the plans for this bike? Sell it and find another project?
Might be a keeper.
I just wanted to say thank you, love the videos especially on the 700s nighthawk. I had to do alot of the steps you did in part 2 video, but i forgot it has 6 gears not 5 lol. My clutch is now freed up & working. My carbs are leaking some so i need to take care of that.
Of course it will run...it's a Honda. :P
super vidéo trés détaillées qui m'ont bien aidé. un grand merci
Good luck Chris.
Those Nighthawks were 750s here in Canada. I always liked the look of them.
@@James-dt7ky I like the look as well. I just discovered the headlight cowling is adjustable.
@James-dt7ky My old boss had one, I loved it so much, I said someday I'll have one too.
Funny enough I was just playing with my 84, got the clutch finally working. Took it outside, it's 50* here in New York, ran it through the gears because the clutch was sticking, I was able to do a lap around the house with no tank or seat on it. Rear wheel wouldn't release with the clutch pulled in & in gear, now it does since I rode it.
@@andrewfarrant198 awesome! Thanks for sharing. I think sometimes things just need to get warmed up.
@CK-Cycles working on little by little, making good progress.
Looking forward to Pt. 2.
I finish my build yesterday and i can start, i dnt have spark its posible i need to disconnect tors cable?
That is a good question. I never ran this one with the TORS in place so I am not sure what unplugging would do. I think I showed the wiring I did to bypass the TORS. Anything you do is at your own risk when it comes to the TORS.
Thanks for your answer, and sorry for mu english, i go try tomorrow to disconnect thid cable, cause im sure im Connect all correct, i try dnt touch toomuch this cables when i start the build, and im sure the stator IS good and is making 12v. I have something strange .. i Hope this tors cable please i need to start this 421 :( Thanks dude @@CK-Cycles
Nice work Chris.
Let’s hear it run. Merry Christmas brother hope
Merry Christmas!
My boot are rock hard too, I ended up gingerly prying the carbs off, was told a heat gun helps warm the boots up. I have the non California carbs. I replaced all the jets with factory kehin jets I got through carbs r us. I was able to pop the carbs back on with just a little difficulty, but popped back into place. I hooked both throttle cables up before re-installing because it's damn near impossible to hook up when installed. Actually runs pretty good, but I am leaking gas I believe at the crossover tubes , need new o-rings.
Thanks for your input! I am hoping all my o-rings are good. We will find out.
Here
Awesome!
If the tipof the cam chain tensioner is not popping in and out whilst engine is running, would it mean the plunger is at max extension or possibly may not have been set correctly (flush with end) upon installation?
Great ti watch somebody else working 😅. Hopefully will take my engine apart on SR next Spring.
Hi! Under the lever there is a bolt with adjusting screw how to set it? Thank by
I have the same bike! :) Since it’s rarer than the 750 models for parts dealers, you can luckily find parts from different Honda models-even some old Goldwing parts fit. :D Wishing you happy cruising moments!
@@tapiotolonen7728 thanks!
Hi! How can i check oil pump before to install engine in the frame? Bye thank
Hello, I checked to see if my engine was pumping oil by cranking it over by hand many many times. I lubricated the piston, rings and cam and kept spinning by hand until I had oil pumping up the feeder line that goes to the head. Not sure if this is an actual procedure but it is what I did. My engine was fully installed in the bike at the time.
Hi! If camshaft rotates not in axis , which are engin symptoms? Could be the bearings? Can I substitute them? Thank bye
Hi! two set valves in TDC ( T mark on flywheel 1) valves are well set; turning 360 * flywheel 2) valves are locked ? Thank bye
