    The sim cards sold at the airport are supplied by a company based in Hanoi. Those sim cards are registered under that company's name, I ran into serious roadblocks when I wanted to register it under my name, the VN staff at 1 mobifone branch in the city insisted i buy a new card while the Hanoi-based company helpdesk staff demanded I email them my passport details (Never do that) before they would re-register the card under my name. If you plan to re use the sim card for next visit, buy the sim card in the city centre. For information, airport staff in TSN are not friendly like other international airports. They will give you a blank face and direct you here and there and tell you "Khong Hieu, Not me blah blah". - "Welcome to Vietnam" - Experience from 25 year Frequent traveler to VN.

    Concerning Grab/Gojek/Bee...Can I link a Debit Card on these apps so I can pay the rides with a Debit Card OR do I need to pay with Cash ?

    • @ChasingtheSunVlog

      Hmm. That's a good question. I've never tried because we've only linked our credit card. I did a Google search and it seems that you can. With Gojek at least.

    • @omgyoudontsay9685
      @omgyoudontsay9685 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Wouldn't suggest doing that unless it is for emergencies. The exchange rate is not beneficial and your bank can charge you additional international fees. If you're using a local Vietnamese bank, heard you can use it from some friends but not verified. Better off use cash.

      From my experience, you can get close to 800k more in jewelry shops compare to the airport and about 500k more compare to a bank. This amount based on 1k USD exchange. As always shop around and compare.

      Do you mean which city has the best coffee? Good Vietnamese coffee can be found almost in every city in Vietnam. Every region has there own twist on it though so it good to try different ones. For instance, Hanoi is famous for their egg coffee and Hue for their Salted Coffee.

      Where are you? In U.S.? I use Airalo Regional eSIMS whenever I travel in southeast Asia. I hear Holafly's good also. The Regional eSIM also gives me local connections in every country in the area, with the exception of Singapore. They also tend to be VERY reasonably priced. (currently using Pixel 7a and previously 6a)

    • @omgyoudontsay9685
      @omgyoudontsay9685 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      There are ATMs right pass the Burger King. When you leave the door, turn left and keep going down. Unless you have a Schwab checking account, be careful of the fees. As for eSiM, it is not available for "tourist" plans yet. The permanently monthly plans with VietTel has eSim.

    • @ChasingtheSunVlog
      @ChasingtheSunVlog  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm not sure because I've never had to do that. But my first thought is that if you've registered and verified the app before then you should be ok. As long as you have data connection to review their in-app messages

    • @Vietboyinred
      @Vietboyinred 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      If you went through the verification process. Its okay to keep your number. But it would be a better to update the number to Vietnamese's. In case your data ran out and you/grab driver has an option to contact when needed.

    • @ChasingtheSunVlog

      I'm not sure what you mean by locked sim. The Grab app will need you to enter a phone number. If you're roaming with your foreign number, you can give it a try and see if the app will take it.
