Keep the detailed tutorials! Have been considering adding an arch to our home for about a year now. Was thrilled when I saw this - couldn’t hit play quickly enough! You’ve convinced me this one can be a DIY project - thanks for that!
I love watching your tutorials. I have two doors that need to have an arch, restoring my Spanish colonial, my son told me to hire someone. NO WAY your video gives the teaching I need , thank you
I watched this so I could make 2 arched interior look-through windows in my upstairs hallway between studs to bring light into my stairway on the other side. I’m planning to use the technique again for a breakfast nook between my kitchen and dining room so we can eat breakfast looking out the back sliding door to the outside deck. Thank you for all of your videos, I’ve been watching them for years!!
Tried to get four different contractors to bid and do work on the house...all ghosted the project so I'm doing it myself. Anyone who can water their front lawn straight and has a building stored nearby can use your help to do it themselves! Thanks a million!
I realize this is an older post , but in depth tutorials would be great . I watch Thomas Johnson furniture restoration all the time . I have learned so much from those detailed videos and they have enabled me to fix some things that I wouldn't normally know how to address😀.
61 yr old grandma here, DIY'er with 30 year old home. I'm interested in putting in an arch. This was really helpful and I think it's doable for me. Thanks
I grew up among people who never hired out work, and so I just assumed that was the way every family got things done around the house. I've been out of that environment for decades as a result of my career choices, but now I'm back in the States preparing to renovate a 1940s wood frame house. So thankful to find your channel and refresh my memory of how to do things. The details of your demonstrations are VERY helpful! Little things like, "remove the loose paper," or "coated screws that won't rust" are necessary points and too often skipped over by most presenters. Thank you!
I am in the process of looking for property. I'm truly thankful that you took the time to go in depth with the information. You didn't edit out the bloopers... You just dealt with the issue...Showed us a new way of handling it... And kept it moving! I really respect that. I can't wait to tackle DIY projects with your guidance ! Hugs from Atlanta,GA
Wow.. I love the technique of using the hammer's claw to quickly split apart the wood around wire. I remember having that challenge last year without knowing your technique. I had to perform some careful surgery around the wires using either a recip saw or circular saw (I don't remember which), that could have been quite dangerous and an easy way to make a mistake. This technique you demonstrated is much quicker and safer than the solution I crafted.
Please, continue the step by step. I've already tiled my fireplace surround, tiled two bathroom counters, painted all my walls and tiled my kitchen backsplash watching your videos. Making an archway out of an old doorway that has no door anymore is my next project. This was perfect for getting started and following each step. My condo is looking so much better. I still need to build the courage to do my shower. Thank you so much for the videos!!
Definitely planning to do this myself very soon. Just buying my first house this week and there is one doorway that is begging for an arch. I've been looking at some other videos but this is by far the most in-depth one and I like that it doesn't require any special kits or materials that I may not have access to. As for your question about in-depth vs broad strokes, I like the in depth approach. I learn the most when you take on a more challengig situation (thinking of the wiring and out-of-plumbness) and really explain why you are doing certain things. Nobody wants to watch some squeeky clean spokesman do a full day job edited down to 5 minutes and say, "it's that easy!". That kind of video leaves me with more quesions than answers. Your videos really get to the heart of why and how and make me a lot more confident that I can use the same thinking or logic to solve whatever problems come up in my projects. Thanks for all the wisdom! -P
These are great videos! I recently fired someone from a water damage restore project for sloppy work and decided to proceed with the drywall repairs myself. I've been binging these for the past week!
Thank you for this video , for me making an arch is not particularly planned, but who knows! Anyway what I really like in your video is that you show us even your fail, like the first inaccurate measurement and that you couldn't use the cuts of the plywood without cutting the edges, it first shows us that everyone is making mistakes and we can quickly find a solution, and also we will not make the same mistake 😉 I enjoyed watching
I really like arch ways, but won’t be doing them in the house I’m currently in; however, if and when I do them in the eventual next home, I will know how to do them. Each house I gain more skills and knowledge and it comes from people like Jeff. Thanks for the instruction and being one of the best educators on TH-cam! Cheers!
As always Jeff, every single bit is instructive. Nice to see your general stress levels are back around normal. The hiccups now are just “stuff that happens”. Very reassuring for us plonkers. C
As a subscriber, this video came up and I checked it out to see how the construction god tackles this task. As usual, I learned a ton and was not disappointed. You rock, Jeff! Keep up the great videos!
I'm looking for detailed videos for beginners to learn how to do these things myself( you asked for feedback😍), you are my go to guy for pretty much everything! I've remodeled almost half my house now, mostly by myself, watching videos, lots of them yours!😍
BTW, I 100% vote for always in-depth videos with step by step instructions like this. I'm almost never watching these videos to learn from the perspective of hiring a contractor. I want to learn in order to know how to apply these techniques on my own. After all, the name of the channel has DIY in it. Which is reason enough to provide detailed DIY as you've taught us over the years to become our own contractors. Cheers Jeff.
Damn you’re good!! You have so much attention to detail that is insane! I love the fact that you will make a mistake because it makes you so human!!! I continue to watch your channel because you are so spot on with all the building/construction processes. Thank you so much for the information you provide!
I removed an archway to widen a door way, I was going to keep it square, but my wife really liked the arch, so learning how to make an arch. I got it framed. Can't wait to do the drywall. Seems simple enough.
I do everything myself and I come to your channel for info, tips and tricks on how to do stuff myself. Never disappointed with the content!!! Thank you for all the knowledge you share!
I have been wanting an arch for my new kitchen for years and I am just going to do it myself. I was going to buy an arch kit from Amazon but the kit looked like junk to me and not complete, so checked you tube and found this video. I seen other videos that you’ve posted and I have always liked the simple instructions you offer, so this spring when husband goes up to the cabin I am going to stop waiting for my arch and make it myself self.
I watch for the details. About to install an arched transom window above an existing interior door so figured I’d research the best way to frame and apparently finish the opening first. Will definitely be using some of your tips/techniques. Thx!
Keep up the great work of teaching us diyrs how to learn new skills or to improve on what we can do. I watch your videos so that I can keep from hiring those expensive contractors you just talked about. I just completed building myself a 750 sq ft shop addition into my existing garage and much of what I did I was able to do because of gaining the knowledge from watching the how to videos. The cost of hiring a contractor would have been out of my reach but doing what I could myself allowed me to have a great space to hang out in. Thank you for all the great training
In depth for me... but everyone is different. Making a large arch for a walk in bathtub install & was so glad you had a video for it. You explain things well & are entertaining to watch. Thanks for all the great content. Keep on keeping on👍
Yes, i watched this fully intending to make an arch doorway for a walk in closet. Your long-form detailed videos are unbelievable and I leanred so much here. Jeff your videos are awesome!
Jeff, I started my arch; let's say... not so good. I tore it all out to the studs, and then found your video. Now its built right and I'm pretty well ready to paint. I think the trick to drywall is just keep at it. Thanks for walking me through this project!
I just removed an exterior door and framed in an arched top window. This is great, showing how you did it better and how to finish the arch with mud and tape. Thank you from South Carolina!
I watch pretty much all your videos, sometimes it's for a project I'm doing and others just because it's very educational. I can watch a video 3 times and learn something everytime I view it. If someone ask me how to do a project, I search up one of your videos and send them.
I have always been attracted to Spanish arches. We are looking for property and I would love to do it myself. I am a fast learner and love to work with my hands. I would rather do it myself as I would take pride and joy in my craft. I like that you did not "edit" the bloopers that happen in real life. I am a new subber, now. Thank you for taking the time to make this video. Angel from The Bay
HI Jeff I have been watching your videos for couple of years. At 71 y.o I want to learn basic workwork and will attempt this project. Watched your how to tape & float and tried which needs some pefecting but did start with a closet. I have learaned so much from you thanks and keep up videos.
You are such an inspiration to my husband and I. We need YOU in Georgia, USA. We are building our Forever Home and we are already thinking of changing the entryways to an ARCH. This video was very helpful. Thank you for sharing your talent. Happy Holidays!!!!
Have watched a ton of your videos while doing new projects on my house. Some of the best I have found. You go through everything step by step which is very helpful for us newbies to remodeling. Thank you.
Thank you for this tutorial! I had a guy do this for me in a main walkway in a ceramic studio I'm building out, and I want to put in a few more arches in what will be the retail area to tie the designs together. I watched your drywall finishing tutorial and feel much more confident in trying to tackle this project! Thank you!
I'm watching this so I can talk someone else into doing it but I will definitely be assisting and chiming in now that I've seen your video!! I have a boring kitchen doorless entrance that is SCREAMING for an arch!! My job is the faux stone work with 1/4 inch painting tape and plaster! Great video, I've watched this being done but now I understand the steps! I'll be sharing this video and hoping my plan goes well! 😂 Thank you!!
Please continue to add details and guidance. I really enjoy watching all your videos whether or not I plan on doing the particular project. Many of my bigger projects I have done it is your content and instruction that gave me the confidence to even attempt conquering the work myself. Huge thank you for all you do!!!!
I like the detailed videos. I have been a fan of this channel throughout my entire home remodel, and I was really surprised to find this video when I was looking to add archways to my house. You have it all.
In depth is great. I watched this video because I've got one or two houses to renovate (as a homeowner) and wanted this in my bag of tricks. This really may be a nice touch in the right place. Thanks for the video.
I would definitely like to see some in-depth technical videos for more elaborate projects. I love learning new things and new ways to be efficient from other tradesmen and try to apply it to my work. I appreciate all the videos you do. Keep up the great work.
I framed my interior walls in a 60'X30' steel building using Clark Dietrich structural steel studs and track (18 gage). I used 10" 16 gage on 36" centers to hang the hat channel on 16" centers. I have a couple of openings that I may kerf the track to form an arch. The drywall technique seems quite doable. My issue will be in determining the kerf spacing on the track. I was thinking of adding a stud at the bottom of the top track to screw the kerfed track to. I have lots of 3" flat strap that I can use to screw the kerfed track to in order to layout/create and hold the arch while I install it. A reapplication of your technique to steel. Thanks for another great video.
In my basement there was a 12”x12” heating duct cutting the room in half. So I had them replace that with a 48” x 4” duct. But that is still just a big square tube cutting the room in half. So we did a half arch at each wall with a 6” wall bump out to make it look like pillars holding up the arch. We used that pillar space to get heat vents at ground level.
definitely continue doing the in depth videos you do great and are very informative on what to and not to focus on while doing projects. I sometimes find myself trying to over perfect things that don't need to be so overthought.
I love when you do both formats along with your 2nd channel. Ill watch the more edited sown versions more for entertainment or for quick reference and then find the step by step tutorials when i am actually going to tackle a similar project. I have learned so many off hand tricks just watching you do something else completely unrelated. Every project I do starts with searching your channel. Keep up the great work.
I’m about to start renovating my house. Several of your videos are so incredibly helpful and I’ll be going back to reference them throughout the project. Keep these in depth videos coming!
I watched this entire video for general tips and tricks. Most interesting things I learned were the drawing of the arch by finding the center; I would have naturally wanted to use the center of my horizontal line. Also, I had no idea they made a flexible corner, that looks very interesting. Finally, thanks for using materials from the Home Depot!
I like your videos, because you make it look so easy. I always use your videos as references when working around my own house. Your step by step instruction are easy to follow. I always try to do it myself first and if I can't do or if I get stuck them, I call a professional. Thus far, I haven't called a professional and thanks to you, my projects have been completed and they look great. Thanks again. Please continue with your DIY videos.
Watching because I Will be making an over 8 foot wide archway, with 4x4 posts as the bones. I love your down to earth way of doing renos and how you explain it. And when you make a point to do something that just one person can do instead of having a helping hand makes a big impact on me since I do nearly everything alone. Girls supposedly have it easy but noone talks about the downfalls being a handy capable female with litterally no friends that own so much as a hammer and are truly useless in home renos that isn't just painting a wall 😅 It makes me feel really confident in the work i do to my own home. r Realizing I actually could be a contractor. I'd than need to worry about time restraints and the inevitable upset customers, which would take the fun outta it. I wouldn't be too upset knowing I'd be making more than I currently am as a fuel transport driver risking my life and those around me for less income than a government employee makes creating basic excel spreadsheets 😂
Going to make an ARCH, I was considering using the woodjamb for a 35.5 half circle window, had it figured out in my head and blown away with the dry version here, yea going to go this way, appreciate the vid. Good Job
I like your long and in depth videos, I've done a fair amount of construction work and build furniture for a living. Your videos are a "go to source" for home improvement skills that I'm not as good in as you show a lot of tips and tricks and make it entertaining plus I'm a nerd that likes to learn my southern friend (I'm from Alaska lol).
Yes, keep up the detailed videos please. I do DIY and even though I have no need for an arch in my place, I love seeing new concepts for inspiration. I watched the video to it's end with pleasure!!
I've seen you use the rotozip dozens of times over the years, but this is the first time I got to see what the rotozip looks like from behind the wall. Pretty cool!
I always loved old homes and the arches common in them. I currently live in a 1966 ranch-style home. It would probably look a bit goofy but I'd really like to remove one of my doors and turn it into an arch. I am already comfortable doing this level of drywall from watching yours (and Vancouver Carpenter's) drywall videos.
Your tutorial was wonderful! Everything is very well explained. I watched other tutorials and this made the most sense to me. I am currently 1/2 way done and heading up to start the drywalling now. So far so good. THANK YOU!!! Please keep it up.
Not related to arches, but I wanted to let you know I just finished remodeling my master bath (all new tiled shower, flooring, new toilet, fixtures, etc.) --all possible because of your videos. Thank you
Love it! I am looking to do this in my new home! I am now more confident that I can do this. Thank you for focusing on the diy-er available tools and tips.
Good day my friend, now you can use the pulpit of the church to preach us, the DIYers the path to salvation , and bliss, thank you, this project is on my to-do list, but in coming years.
Well I wasn't thinking about doing this, Jeff. But then my wife saw me watching this, so thanks... Now it would appear I am watching this video to learn how to do it myself
Second time watching this... once to learn, and today to remind myself as I'm about to do the arch into my kitchen. It will be a centerpiece in our house, so hopefully I get it right!! Thanks, my friend!
Well I woke up today with no thought or intention of doing an archway. But your videos are always so thorough and informative that now I'm going around my house trying to figure out where I can put one. Long time fan, keep these up!
I'm very much a DIY guy but I don't generally do fancy in my house so no arches for me. This video I just watched to learn about how it's done & see if I could pick up any other tips/tricks along the way like your splitting the wood around the wiring trick! Thanks for all the information!
Adding an arch to my entryway and a hallway. I'm watching so I can direct my husband on what to do.
That drywall trick around the bottom of the arch is genius.
NO WAY your video gives the teaching I need , thank you
I do all my own work. So I like in depth tutorials. Thanks.

Was going to purchase a pre-made arch to install but after watching this video will build it myself. Thanks!
Thanks for the tips
I watched this with zero intentions of making an arch but now I think I'm going to do 4 or 5 of them. Keep up with the detailed tutorials.
I am in the process of looking for property. I'm truly thankful that you took the time to go in depth with the information. You didn't edit out the bloopers... I like the detailed tutorials. I'm a hard core DIYer and always benefit from pro tips :)
Happy to help. Cheers!

We intend to convert a door into an arch ourselves, and this video is VERY helpful! THANK YOU
7:11 WHOA! Splitting the board with one blow was really slick! Amazing trick! Thanks for sharing this entertaining and informative content.

Please continue the in depth learning. I’m a new home owner who was about to go about the process of making arches the wrong way. Thank you so much!
Thanks! We are adding a doorway to our home and may put an arch in! This tutorial is very helpful don't stop teaching.
This guy is so awesome. He walked me through a complete kitchen renovation video by video. Came out amazing. Yes women "You Can Do it"!

Watching this video to make an arch myself. Thankful for the in depth nature of these videos
I'm a DIY gal and I'm planning to reshape an existing arch. The more detail the better and after watching this I'm going to give it a go! Thanks!

7:56 “so we’re back and we’re bad” lol I’m gonna start saying this
In depth is great. I watched this video because I've got one or two houses to renovate (as a homeowner) and wanted this in my bag of tricks. This really may be a nice touch in the right place. Thanks for the video.
Glad it was helpful!
I would definitely like to see some in-depth technical videos for more elaborate projects. I love learning new things and new ways to be efficient from other tradesmen and try to apply it to my work. I appreciate all the videos you do. Keep up the great work.
I have no intention of doing this in my home, but I love to learn new tricks and techniques. These could be applied somewhere else. Good job !

Girls supposedly have it easy but noone talks about the downfalls being a handy capable female with litterally no friends that own so much as a hammer and are truly useless in home renos that isn't just painting a wall 😅 It makes me feel really confident in the work i do to my own home. r
Realizing I actually could be a contractor.
I LOVE watching drywall work. Your skills with that putty knife are (chef kiss) beautiful!
Cheers Allan!
I am doing it all my self and your videos have been a God send. Keep up the great job!
Perfect timing! Wife asked if we could remove a couple of closet doors (small rooms & doors get in the way) and put arches in.
I watched this so I can do it myself. Thank you!!
Yes, keep up the detailed videos please. I do DIY and even though I have no need for an arch in my place, I love seeing new concepts for inspiration. I watched the video to it's end with pleasure!!
This is exactly the type of tutorials I am searching for. Pleas do more like this one. And yes! I love arch ways in a home!
I have used many of your videos for the past years to renovate my home!
I've seen you use the rotozip dozens of times over the years, but this is the first time I got to see what the rotozip looks like from behind the wall. Pretty cool!
Makes sense now eh!
Great tutorial, I'm a homeowner looking to install an arch and this did the trick. Thank you.
Detail tutorials are ALWAYS better!
Not related to arches, but I wanted to let you know I just finished remodeling my master bath (all new tiled shower, flooring, new toilet, fixtures, etc.) --all possible because of your videos. Thank you
The drywall hack where you measured all of the edges and cut one piece was very helpful. Thanks.
Love it! I am looking to do this in my new home! I am now more confident that I can do this. Thank you for focusing on the diy-er available tools and tips.
Thank you for the in-depth instruction! You are more help for us plebs than you can ever imagine!
I just watched and was thrilled to find a video explaining in depth exactly what i want to diy. Planning to do this myself.
You can do it! Cheers!
I watch every video to gain the knowledge I need to do this myself when I own my own house 👍
Loved the video, loved the detail. You’re right, it’s to expensive to hire, especially on things you can diy
Complex and in depth for DIY.... I've been watching your vids for last 2 years for my reno projects... this arch technique was very kool. Tyvm
Glad to be helpful Chris. Cheers!
I vote for more details! I want to learn. I will continue to soak up all the details you want to give. Thank you jeff.
I'm very much a DIY guy but I don't generally do fancy in my house so no arches for me. This video I just watched to learn about how it's done & see if I could pick up any other tips/tricks along the way like your splitting the wood around the wiring trick! Thanks for all the information!
Cheers, that trick comes in handy!
Building our own house. Did the arches myself on 7 doorways. Paying for drywall install!
Thank you for sharing, My sister wants us to make her an arch, removing a door. You make it look easy, we'll try.
You’ve made my day I’ve never laughed so much you bring a new meaning to DIY destroy it yourself 😂😂😂😂😂
