    Nicely done! You are like me, I don't overthink it and just go ahead and do it. If it doesn't come out the 1st time, I try again. I rebuilt a 1924 house by myself (of course friends helped). I picked it up really cheap with a couple acres of land, gutted it and rebuilt it all the way I wanted it. I lived 20 happy years there and remodeled as I lived there over the years, super cheap to do it yourself. Then I sold it for a very hefty profit.

    Was thinking about changing a square door into an arched door, and came to this video. You are very skilled! Me, I would hire someone to do this! glad to know the 'how to's' and you did a lovely job. I'm all about the Spanish look; I live in AZ and love love love the whole southwest-y vibe, and arched doorways are a favorite.
    Thank you!!

    • @ShannonElizabethDesign
      @ShannonElizabethDesign  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@sirinesweiss5698 yes you can. You just should bring the arch down like I did. The header is the wood going at across the top of the doorway. Especially if it is wide like yours, it is supporting the studs above and potentially the second story and/or roof. You can google search doorway header to see what I talking about if that didn’t make sense. But I did not mess with the header at all in this video. So if you follow how I did it then you are good. You can also dm me on instagram if you have any questions and I can send photos to more clearly explain what I am talking aboit

    Random question but how tall are your ceilings??

  • @ellefrankiemack
    @ellefrankiemack ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Okay, kind of a crazy question but my hallway is a MAJOR focal point of my apartment… do you think this would be renter friendly in the sense that I can probably remove it before moving out? I’ll have to repaint before I leave anyway…

    • @ShannonElizabethDesign
      @ShannonElizabethDesign  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I guess I won’t title it renter friendly but it’s definitely possible. I have seen people do it with styrofoam that would definitely be more temporary. It would definitely need paint touch ups once you leave and maybe even some drywall and mud work depending on how you set it up. But if you want to you definitely should. As long as you want to do the work to do or pay someone to do it

    • @ellefrankiemack
      @ellefrankiemack ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ShannonElizabethDesign I did not think about styrofoam!!! I’ll definitely look into that… I don’t mind mudding and repainting before I leave! Thanks for the suggestion!

    How many days does it take you to do this? I know you applied extra layers too so if you only did 2 layers, could this project be complete in 2 days? Tight space with a move and I'd like to add arches before painters come in!

      - drywall
      -drywall screws
      - Paper corner bead
      - joint compound
      - primer
