Earlier in the video, I was thinking “what sorcery is this?” when I saw no damage taken during guard counters. Now, I can see just how valuable Deflecting Hardtear is! I guess I need to take down that Furnace Golem finally 😅. I have been avoiding them up until now.
If you enjoy the playstyle, i highly suggest using the mod that adds this effect to a talisman. Just did a playthrough with this talisman and a milady, its so incredibly fun!
@@Darkbelisar it basically allows you to have thr deflecting tear outside of just boss encounters. And since its a very high risk/high reward playstyle, i dont think its completely broken either. As you get heavily punished for screwing up timings, more so than with regukar dodge.

Off hand keen milady for wing stance plus lightning weapon buffs goes pretty bonkers too on this build and gives a fun alternative play style for elements when you’re not going to be focused on guard counters. This stat spread is viable for a lot of dex/faith items in the game and still gives the option to go straight keen on a given arsenal. I think a shield can really be good for a weapon like Leda’s when you don’t have the hard tear, because while it does less poise it allows for the tear to be saved for the moment you really need it in actual gameplay. Overall 10/10 I loved dex faith in the base game and I think this setup and play style has a lot going for it.
I love the deflecting hardtear so much, easily one of my favourite things they added with the DLC. It really should have been a talisman though, or something else that would've made it a permanent thing. Maybe an armour set with really low poise, but you get the deflecting effect if you wear the whole set. I dunno, it's just sad that such a major gameplay shift comes from a flask tear and not something permanent.
I'd prefer it to be a great rune effect, personally. Something this transformative needs to be if not permanent, then at least a resource-limited toggle.
It’s sometimes frustrating watching these builds when they use Millicent’s prosthesis because that means I need to be a MONSTER in order to use them efficiently
in fairness the 5 dex isn't a massive boost and rotten wing gives more than enough potential attack power to make up the difference if you're keeping it stacked and active. milicents prosthesis gives a smaller boost on successive hits
honestly parries need work in the game, you have to already know the attacks before you can parry, which I'm not a fan of, I think they need to come out faster or the enemies need to have more of a delayed swing so you can see an attack coming and then parry at the right time. It's kinda annoying to learn parries for every single enemy separately, I don't mind learning it for bosses but for regular enemies, it's just annoying, I'd sacrifice a talisman to get my parries coming out quicker

@@Siepher83 walahi delayed swings aren’t bad, it’s just the way fromsoft does it that makes it look bad. They usually have the boss hold a swing and then immediately drop their sword arm without any cues to dodge, not visual or audio, so your only option is just to die a bunch of times and memorize it, that sucks. However there’s better way to do it, make delayed swings be something like a power up so the boss pulls their arm back as far as possible and puts their whole body into the swing so the boss appears like a pendulum instead of just the animating pausing for an arbitrary amount of time only to continue immediately or just allow us to cancel their animations by striking the boss so remove hyper armor or allow us cancel a roll by pressing L1. The combat system needs a lot of work
I would be curious to see what a build centered around Freyja's Greatsword would look like. The supposed boost to "Redmane Ashes of War" isn't particularly clear with what benefits with it.

You literally need just lions claw on that weapon. I was reloading my save before mesmer so I can try different weapons, and Freya GS with Lions Claw is just unfair. You literally get in arena, evade first attack, press L2 3 times, each for 4k, jump attack him once and he gets staggered for crit that takes you directly to phase 2. Evade his first attack, lions claw his head for bonus damage (its like 5k), spam two more times and he is probably dead. Ridiculous.
Don't remember hearing you say this, if you did I apologize. The down swipe on needle piercer does a not insignificant amount of damage if you hit them with it when they're right up on you.
Can I recommend not showing boosted stat values during the attribute section? For better clarity, that screen should show 60 dex because an extra 5 is coming from a talisman
Hey fextralife, just wanted to tell you that you should try a build around the rakshasa’s great katana, I’ve been trying it and it’s just amazing, the heavy attacks from it are amazing and the aow is great when you break poise that it’s often when you use the heavy attacks, just wanted to give you a recommendation thanks for all your builds and have a nice day :)
@@CavernsDev rakshasa's also gets a piercing charged heavy, unlike the other two great katanas. But you essentially trade doing more poise damage from cragblade for increased hyper armor at the cost of taking more damage during attacks. Depending on your playstyle and what you're fighting, one or the other might be better, so mostly a matter of preference imo.
Curseblade's Cirque has such a high guarding boost and a sick block counter moveset, would you please make a video about it too? It can also play like this style.
Isn't it better to use the "two-handed sword talisman" instead of the "ritual sword talisman" ? I understand you won't have the bonus on the AoW, but you'll have a 15% attack boost at all time instead of 10% only when you're full life

Very stylish. I would point out one thing tho: when you have this armor, talisman and setup... You should absolutely have hardswaps ready for blacksteel twinblade and backhand blades (pick the one you like the most). These two weapons have absolutely NASTY running R2, and if you pair that with this armor and talisman, and ideally some weapon buff, you can absolutely blender any enemy in the game, and even do like quarter of HP of most bosses in one running attack. And both are quite usable even on this build, although backhand blades will work better with high dex obviously.
Tried something similar with Milady (started experimenting as soon as found the deflecting tear - fairly late, as i postponed the Furnace till about half way through), and yes, not all the bosses can be fought this way. Also, learned the hard way that more then 25 endurance is a must, and while i beat the game with 30, going north of that probably isn't a bad idea.
I use it and up inteligence to 17 so you can use Golden Order Seal which buffs Discus of light which is hard buffed in previous patchs and can keep the distance even more easy. Give it a try
I've been using this build with the wolf Crest shield just because if you play as a samurai you already have the 12 points for it and I'm bad at guard countering at the right time😅
I've started toying with guard counters on the Milady and it is kinda nice with that fast counter follow up...not sure I'm skilled enough for the deflecting hardtear Sekiro style play but the guard boost is decent on the light greatswords alone
Does Leda’s armor work with incantations and sorceries? Wanna get it because of the looks and effect and throwing a fireball after I dodge is something I do quite often
This build looks fun. I'm curious why in this build Retaliatory Crossed-Tree isn't on the list of talismans as an option since it stacks with Leda's armor. Is it because the build & playstyle relies more on guard counters than rolling?
I kinda wish we had ledas sword using the heavy attack moveset of the godskin stitcher hts. Just to really double down on the piercing aspect and give some moveset diversity to the weapon class.
using similar build, but i have Solitude Gloves and Shoes, then Two Handed Sword talisman, MP & RWSI. thorny tear and turtle tear for bosses/ hard enemies. aow for starting encounter then run in with a heavy and into a light and most things die fairly quick. one handing & shield is is decent as theres no s scaling for strength. with high enough faith you could obviously use incarnations, but the aow is good enough range option for me. like.
I do love the AoW on Leda's sword, and I like her sword in general, but I just can't bring myself to stop using Milady for this wep, same exact thing for Rellana's twin swords too, love them and the Ash of War is probably one of the coolest in the game, but Milady is just... Well she's My lady 😅

I'm thinking of doing a new game plus run with this sword and armor plus a few incantations like discus of light and pretend to be a holy knight. I think that would be pretty cool.
Love the builds! I've personally been trying to make a blake-flame blade build work with the new Fire Knight's Greatsword and Queelign's Greatsword, both seem sot work great but my buildcrafting isnt the greatest. Bloodflame + blood tax on Queelign's + 60 Arc still doesnt proc bleed often so blackflame, for the first time, might outpace bloodflame on a weapon! I might just be an idiot though XD

This build works a million times better with a colossal weapon, sadly. In fact, a colossal weapon like the Black Knight hammer (new weapon in the DLC) and a build around counters is so incredibly strong is not even normal. You can 3-4 counters a lot of bosses and break their stance in like 2 counters. The only benefit to a Light greatsword in this build is the speed and the drip, I'd say. I'm still sad that the Milady while having such a sexy moveset basically does no damage.
is there a way to enhance my sword so my blocking stamina last a bit? like when you enhance your shield with blue magic (I don’t remember the name of the spell)
I love Leda's Sword but like... if we don't care about the skill then why use it over milady for PvE? I mean, I think it looks cooler, but still. However, if we're talking about PvP it's a different story cause apparently the weapon skill strips buffs and debuffs from enemies you hit with it.

I just made a Leda’s sword build lol. Leda in my right hand and milady with blink bolt in the left.
Fantastic fashion build. I got the official sliders for leda with this armor. This build is absolutely perfect even though I'm done with the game.

Now can I get a paladin shield guard counter build with ledias great sword or sword of light
anyone else feel like the wondrous physic stuff should've just been talismans, like 2 extra talisman slots would be nice but maybe we'd be too overpowered, although I dont think so cause these DLC bosses are brutal
This build works a million times better with a colossal weapon, sadly.
In fact, a colossal weapon like the Black Knight hammer (new weapon in the DLC) and a build around counters is so incredibly strong is not even normal. You can 3-4 counters a lot of bosses and break their stance in like 2 counters.
The only benefit to a Light greatsword in this build is the speed and the drip, I'd say.
I'm still sad that the Milady while having such a sexy moveset basically does no damage.
Would this work for the final boss? (I've died 7485493 times lol)

Im out of larva tears literally i tried and used every weapon kept using them and burned through them
is there a way to enhance my sword so my blocking stamina last a bit? like when you enhance your shield with blue magic (I don’t remember the name of the spell)

I love Leda's Sword but like... if we don't care about the skill then why use it over milady for PvE? I mean, I think it looks cooler, but still.
However, if we're talking about PvP it's a different story cause apparently the weapon skill strips buffs and debuffs from enemies you hit with it.
