- How to build a Vault Floor, in ARK Survival Ascended, using metal structures. In this building tutorial, I'll show you how to raise foundations to set two different foundation heights, so you can place ceilings for your base, war room or crafting station floor at the perfect height to be flush with the top of vaults, creating lots of storage without getting in the way.

Nice addition for anyone wanting to do this for purely the ascetic quality of the vaults as a floor, change the height of the center foundations to be about a ceilings worth lower and throw some glass ceilings down so it turns it into a feature.

Not thought about using vaults to create a different aesthetic for a floor surface, but that would definitely create a nice look and give you plenty of storage for the room below. Great idea! I like it! 🙌🏻

Thank you! Benches are super handy for getting in, out and through places! Even more so in the old game if you got stuck, as you couldn't use your implant to de-spawn. People would use them to get into rat holes and things too! Who'd have thought a bench was so OP! 😂

This is nice. My only concern is if you popcorn a vault to over encumber yourself, where do the boxes end up. Hopefully right on top and all can be picked up w/ the F key
Thanks! The good news is, you can popcorn and F pick. Everything pops out of the vaults on top the same way, just lands a third of the way inside the top of them where you stand. It’s a little more tricky, but easy done until they fix the vaults! 🙌🏻

@@toastbloke maybe, for avoid this, you can put just a little lower the vaults, enough just to let you put small hatch frames up, open, so you can walk on hatch frames and have acces to vault in the open of the frame
@@eduardoslabecki6172 You can, indeed! It was a little difficult to access the vaults through them though and was even harder to get out if you fell in! 😅 Still, it does work, you just have to be careful. I just want the vaults fixed asap! Please Wildcard!!! 🙏

The whole point of a vault floor being flush with the ceilings is to be able to walk across it. I dont know why you'd want it to look cleam and pretty if its not usable. You might as well just go up by a quater ceiling so its actually clean to use as well as to look at.
I held out on making this video for that exact reason, but I had a few people ask how to do this and there's no way they're not going to fix the vaults. They're clearly not meant to be like this. Looked so stupid and still caused collision if you made them walkable. This is at least usable, so I'd rather make it look right and future proof it.

Will it let you snap ramps in, so you can get out of the vaults?
It wouldn't, unfortunately. Top of vault causes clipping even though you can walk through it. Bonkers. Hopefully, they sort the soggy top soon like!
is there anyway to get an offset like this on the highest floor of a building? so your roof can be a vault floor but not have all the floors under be a seperate height?
I've not been on the test, but I'd imagine you can transfer the offset by building up from the outer foundations with walls and the inner ones with walls/pillars and placing ceilings on top of them. Means you have some structures inside, but should get the desired result!
If only WC devs played with lego maybe JUST maybe they'd have set dedicated boxes to fit 1 exactly into a quarter wall n ceiling space that way you'd just use half walls as snap points n lining up dedi's. Fitting 8 in a 2x2z2 on 1 foundation.
Vaults 1 wall high 1 wall wide but half a wall deep that way you could fit 2 onto a foundation.
Squish/stretch cryos to be exactly 1 wall high. N make fridges half or a full wall high but half a wall wide.
Instead of having to do all this bs for a nest looking base.
Haha! Life could be some much simpler and make so much more sense if the base game got some much needed attention on the remaster, but that would take time and effort away from being able to make new paywalled content like cars to the game to rake in that top dollar! 😜 The only fixed we'll have are the fixes we find ourselves!

Will the bench go on top of the vaults?
Nothing I tested seems to place on the vaults, unfortunately. I was hoping creating a sort of step would work, but you can’t. Not possible to get structures through them either. Fingers crossed they fix this asap!
what if you build up with air conditioners before you place the vaults so your walking on the air conditioners that are just below the surface of the vaults
Thankfully, they've fixed the soggy tops now, as I'd hoped, so you can just walk straight across the top of the vaults as is!
im on pc and i always ALWAYS accidentally move the camera a little when doing the ladder trick, is there any button to press to stop that?
I switch from using my mouse to look up and down, to using my up and down arrow keys instead! Hopefully that helps!
What happens if an enemy destroys the foundation a vault sits on?
Unlike other structures, vaults drop directly down onto the floor if the structure they are stood on is destroyed, so it would still be there, just directly on the ground, unless it is destroyed via damage. Hope this helps! 🙌🏻
U don't even snap the foundations together so is pointless
The point is to not snap them together. Why would they need to be snapped together? Snaps are locked to a half wall height.
All it means is they are two separate "structures" and have their own decay timers... Which will get reset at the same time so it doesn't even matter
@@toastbloke because its bad building to have your base on multiple snap points. This works in theory but when your trying to build inside a cave this whole video is pointless
I hate to say it, but you’re building your cave badly if installing something like this is ruining the whole structural integrity! Separate snaps can be used to your advantage in PvP. Don’t forget either, there’s a lot more going on in ARK than PvP and the hiding in caves meta 😅
And automated Ark makes all of this irrelevant if you're playing single player or on a private server that's smart enough to install mod and respect everyone's time, because wildcard and snail certainly don't.
Mods can be great, but a lot of them bypass whole parts of the game and play it for you, which isn’t for everyone. I enjoy the grind and figuring out the building mechanics. People who don’t like mods, and don’t want loads of them installed, or play on official need solutions too. Plus, you can still make a nice vault floor even with automated! 🙌🏻
Like me. I specifically play an unmodded 2x server cos I like the challenge and grind. Just not spending 5 hours taming or 5 days raising 😁
