Build Tek dedicated storage into foundations and/or below ceilings, so that it's flush with the floor, using my updated method!
I love sinking dedi storage into the floor. Super cool Toast, cheers :)
No problem! That's the bare bones, but you can beef this up and expand it however you want once you have the two snap points! Let me know how it goes! 🙏
@@toastbloke Gotta beat a boss or two first ...will keep ya posted!
@KiwiZD You’ll have two before I have a wooden base at this rate though! Look forward to hearing about it!
Bro its thanks to people like yourself that make this game even better, thank you so much you got such brilliant content!
Appreciate you! Thanks! Glad you’re getting something out of it. Not sure if you saw, but I’ve got an improved version of this now where you can get the floor flush and even build this directly into foundations!

Well done, looks amazing!
Thanks! Glad you think so! We've got it looking even better now though! New video dropping later today!
Showing tech is pointing out just how far behind I am. Great video.
You are way ahead of me! I still have a thatch bob box! Tried cracking this early doors, but found other things, so it went on the back burner. It got requested though, so I jumped back in and it seemed the break paid off! 🫠
I prefer a sloped roof and tables for the dedi floor, it looks better as an end result, you can slap it anywhere on any floor at any stage and it's honestly a lot less tedious. These are cool tricks to know though.
Thanks! Hopefully, this comes in handy for some other purposes too. And of course. Always use the method that's best for you! I'm never one to say mines the best, it's just an option. I enjoy faffing on with building, so I know things that seem worth it to me aren't worth it for everyone 😂
If you use metal elevator tracks on the normal floor below instead, "turn off snap and free place them" they will line up perfectly so when you place Dedicated storage boxes on top the tracks they will sit perfectly aligned-flush with the floor with no dip. You won''t need to do any extra steps in building prep to make it work and it will look much cleaner. The elevator tracks all will last for a long time (16) days before they will despawn. Idk about the durability though. Tables don't cut it for me because they are easy to destroy and the despawn timer don't last as long. The tracks method gives me more peace of mind.
I’ve updated this method now. This is the original attempt. The new one is flush, cheap, strong and never times out. Can get it in foundations too! But yes, elevator tracks are still viable, they’re just expensive and have their downsides. I got asked to find a cheaper method, so that’s why I started playing with this. It won’t be for everyone, but elevator tracks weren’t for me. This is super fast and easy once you know how and the results are better.
@@toastbloke I will try it out for sure. There is nothing wrong with this method whatsoever it's very good if your building from the ground up. I was trying to figure out how to make things sink if you wanted to place things in upper floors to save room so the tracks came to mind.
@NXS1FY Yes, that’s the one problem with this, it’s hard to join it to existing structures. Can be done, but you have to work backwards and it’s tricky. Elevator tracks are a good and popular solution, so use what works for you and the build you’re doing. As long as people get the end result they want, it’s a win! 🙌🏻
I just wanted to point out that metal elevator tracks lasts as long as metal foundations (16 days) so there really isn't any worries of them despawning on you and if you play PVE you wont have to worry about anyone damaging them.
Solid video! Makes me feel like even I could follow it 😂
Cheers! I need to see you do this now! Jump in creative and give it a shot! I believe in you! 🙌🏻
Love it like always bro🎉
Thank you! Appreciate the support 💪
Fantastic video as always!
Thank you! I'm loving figuring out how to do things from the old game again!
For some reason i get "Art Attack" vibes while watching this. idk if you know the show? was an old british art show in the 90s, dating myself a little lol. great stuff mate.
Cheers! And amazing!! Grew up with that show too! I need to start all my tutorials with, 'This in an ARK attack. This is and ARK attack. THIS... is and ARK attack!' 😂
We need a video on how to keep Dino's from floating into the air.
I didn’t even know that was a thing! I’ve not experienced that yet. Is this on official?
@@toastbloke seems to only happen when you spawn into your base if you have dinos out and about. Seems to be. Wild card has not yet addressed the issue.
@sheogoraththedaedricprince9675 Hopefully that gets sorted soon. I reckon things will start improving once the PS version comes out. That seems to be the focus atm!
@@toastbloke I hope so
I love how you’ve sussed the whole games building mechanics out in like a month 😂
Haha, I’m trying when I get the time too! Spent a lot of time on failed things, so it’s nice when something ends up working out! 🙌🏻
elevator tracks work perfectly too! good vid tho
Thanks 🙏🏻 And they do indeed. I got asked to find a cheaper way, though, so I came up with this. I reckon it’s a tidier finish too!
Nice video mate
Thank you! Now to get onto tek teir asap! 😅
What about floating the transmitter next?
Haha! Line the jobs up like. I'll try my best! 😅
If you want the dedi boxes to be flush with the floor place 4 elevater tracks on the foundatin below. You just have to place the first one lined up and the rest snap, i usually place the surrounding ceiling after for the snap to work.
That's the solution! Well done! Didn't think it would be the case in this game, but ceilings second override the clipping! Nice one! I don't get dedicated storage snapping without support below, so every box would need an elevator track which is expensive. That's what I was asked to try and solve.
great video bro, one question im trying to prefab crafting area on single player with nothing changed in settings but when i go official i cant place things like im able to in single player
Thanks! What is it you're unable to place on official? Do you have structure collision turned off on singe player, or have you matched official settings?
@@toastbloke on official bro, tried everything and doesnt seem to want to fire :/
Would placing crop plots underneath raise the dedis up to floor level??
I've got an updated method for this linked in the description that gets the floor flush if that's the look you're after. Last time I checked though, things don't place on crop plots like they used to in ASE. You'd have to use a lot too if they did. You can use elevator tracks though if you don't want to do it like this, but it's expensive and a faff to get tidy.
Why would you not make it level with the ceilings?
I'd love to, but the dedi boxes red boxed with the ceilings if they were level on official settings. If there's a way to stop the collision though, I'd love to know like. Hopefully, I can figure something out at some point!
Im still trying to figure out the snap points lol
You can do it! If you check the link in the description, I've got a new video that might help and will get you a better end result! Let me know how you get on.
Ayo this is brilliant?
Cheers! There’s a better version linked in the description if you’re interested 🙏🏻
Great videos, just wish they where shorter 🤙
Thanks! Glad you're liking them. I like to think I'm being as fast as I can, while being super clear, but I'm probably just closing in on old fart status 😂
@@toastbloke I like the long form, explanations illustrate the meaning behind the building techniques you employ, in fact wouldn't mind even longer, 14mins is quick in my opinion, but then again I haven't grown up with vines/shorts/tiktoks so maybe I'm getting up there in years as well hahah
Glad to hear it, cheers. I think this is my shortest video and it felt wrong, but some things don't need to take a long time to explain. Somethings I've been fitting into shorts, but it's a challenge and a half to get multiple steps into 60 seconds! 😅
