In Sarawak we don't accept religious chauvinism, for example a Malayan teacher who tried to convert and brain wash her student was promptly sent home the very next day accompanied by immigration to ensure she got the hell out.

Hello Kian Ming, I have retired in March 2023. I have been observing the politics in this country from my early days in my career. I am amazed by your intelligence & highly educated & young too. Time & again I hope you will come back to politics & lead the Chinese Malaysian community so that the Chinese in Malaysia will have a good & secured future. This will include all retirees who are looking forward to retirement with government help in financial assistance.

I have lived in Bintulu since 1978 and i have seen the development of the oil & gas industry from day 1. Why are Sarawakian very protective? During the early days and even now, almost all of the oil & gas project were given to West Malaysia companies that had JV with local companies. The reason being that Sarawakian companies did not have the experience or funding to carry out the construction. The work was then sub-contracted to many levels of West Malaysian. Once the project was completed, these companies will just leave and payments due to the local contractors were not paid. I have seen this many happen times which makes me weary of West Malaysian companies even till today. Talk about technology transfer? Before Chief minister Adenan's time, the majority of the workforce at the Petronas owned plants were West Malaysians. I am sure many locals could have been trained in the span of 20 years. But I am happy say that this policy has been changed. Kudos to the current government.
And like you said, Sarawakian are looked down upon by West malaysian. I was asked if I lived on a tree when I was at Taylors during the late 80s. Part of this fault lies with the Sarawak Government who :-
    1. When featuring Sarawak in the media will only show long houses, the jungle and caves.
    2. Not giving local chances to have higher education. We have many foreign institution of higher learning but not all families can afford the fees. We have local Universities but what is the percentage of Sarawakians students in there?
To be fair, it is also the mind set of the locals who do not put much importance into education. I know many parents who do not push their children to even finish form 5 at the very least.
Hopefully with the new initiatives by the current government will create many work opportunities for the locals and push the young students to seek higher education to meet the demands for professionals.

    • @gan247
      @gan247 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

Regarding the Malayan who asked you in the 1980s if you lived on a tree, you should not be embarrassed. Play along and make up stories about living on a tree: doing a #1 or a #2 from a tree during emergency, taller trees being more expensive, etc. At the same time, feel sad for them for having the thought.
As for universities enrolment, I don’t agree with pushing students into one, by exams grade inflation, for the sake of statistics. It does nobody good, except the politicians.
What’s more important is the strengthening of the foundation of education by providing quality, state sponsored 2yr preschool, 6yr primary and 5yr secondary school levels. Compulsory education must be extended from six years to 13 years. Welfare support must be provided to those living in poverty. Parents who failed to enrol their children to attend school must be prosecuted. No child must be left out of the system. Once this is done and is running smoothly, their eligibility to enrol into universities (or vocational training) would be a natural progression.

They're also taking steps to encourage STEM edu but that'll take years before we can see any impactful results. We definitely need more ppl, the right kind of course. After all the PH were campaigning on reforms for this nation and fight against corruption. Is this unity govt fighting against corruption and for reforms? DAP must state her stand before forming this unity govt or at the mercy of UMNO in order to form this govt? The fear of collapse of this unity govt at the mercy of UMNO. The party are not helping the business community and I also agreed they are heading toward MCA 2.0. Please remember, MCA had reached the bottom and will not go down further. KM didn’t make it clear if he agreed with the reduction in Najib’s fine. He just said it was a small amount when compared with 1MDB debt and the GDP. RM160m may not be a lot to him but think of the good it would do if that were allocated to neonatal wards where the Perspex of the incubators are so opaque you can’t even see how the baby is doing. All these politicians are scared of saying anything against Najib. They know he has a lot of money and influence and they don’t want to say anything adverse. In my opinion he got off lightly. He was actually sentenced to more than 80 years but to run concurrently. If we don’t take an uncompromising stand we will never get out of this malaise we are in.

  • @gwloo

Also, if we the rakyat are expected to accept that the "pardon" is for a greater political goodness, I don't mind if issues like allocation are not fully honoured. It made no sense in many ways. It's a political move.

For a Secretary General to slam views of a member as 'rubbish' is demeaning and hitting below the belt. Voters expect leaders to be less toxic when making such remarks in Public. Voters are having second thoughts of senior members in DAP.

Taking a leaf from LSL, the Singapore PM, he said, 'When you wear white, you must be white. In fact should be whiter than white. This is a strong message to political parties that wear white uniforms. Well said by PAP icon.

44:10 imo, one of the easiest and cheapest way is for fahmi to find a really good graphic designing team to compile all the good thing into like a yearly PDF. Useinteresting graphics, seperate each segment by ministry, oh this ministry done this and that during this month, how this particular change affect certain thing in a positive way.
It was done on a weekly basis at some point with "minggu ini apa?" or something that tell this week what government have done. (this bill was proposed, certain FDI was signed , new rules to ease the rakyat etc)
Like come on lah, fahmi. This thing is the simplest way to communicate the government effort, XXX say macam government no do anything one, then slap him with this pdf done. WHY CAN"T PH BE BETTER AT COMMUNICATING, IT SO FRUSTRATING.
Like just look at quality of Zafrul communication team compared to PH non-existing ones. Always is generic useless respond that doesn't say anything and then sensationalized by the media.

since under dap's cec system, the member with the most votes still have to go through those who are originally already part of cec to get elected for position, doesn't that make dap less democratic and give opportunity for certain individuals to control the cec and effectively block other challengers to take the position
with all due respect, despite being a dap fanboy, this could be a flaw that could be exploited by individuals with malicious intent

Every One should be interested and excited to help PMX to shut the corruption problems and all these can go or how much can go to ease the country's debts though he does not need your help so far. It is good to see him nailing Tun M and Tun Daim and Tun M's children. How did they get so much wealth. Taib is another important issue. If PMX wins and he can give penalties our country's debt can be erased and our Ringgit will do well like USD dollar so meantime help him to manage the country's resources and economy. This is best. Too many parties and DAP other than Hannah Yeoh, Lake Siew Fook and some some others are good but not the rest. It is a waste of country's monies.
