    Thank you for your time and efforts to educate. These old tractors are gems and it is fine people like you who will help us keep them running. BRAVO! By the way I appreciated your time on the phone with my questions.

    I appreciate your videos! I have one running b414 diesel and one b414 diesel parts tractor with power steering. You have given me the courage to go into the hearts of these beasts. I may even fix both tractors before I'm finished!

    • @vclubamp
      @vclubamp 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I should say the only reason to go into the transmission on my parts tractor is I think the pto is out, but good (new) on my running tractor. However, my running tractor is an early style '62 model b414 and my parts tractor is a '63 with newer style larger brakes and parking brake lever. All of the hood and grill are missing and the radiator is bad, but I take them in like puppies and kittens and want to save them all. It's a sickness!

    Thanks for B 414 videos. I just got a 1964 with no operator's manual, and your videos are helping me a lot! PTO was touchy. Only had 1 inch of fluid in reservoir😱😱. Fixed!. There is water in tranny so i will be changing that fluid next. 👍👍

    Had a blown head gasket on a 374. Never even been inside that part of an engine. Watched your videos and gave it a shot. Marking my top dead center was confusing for me and took a while and after watching your videos again and again
    to get it. Success. I have watched all these videos now with the rear end axle, transmission, PTO etc. and now going to take the chance on repairing a popping sound in my left rear axle (hoping it is the bearing), while I have the hydraulic off the top will rebuild the speed control which I found a kit for. Then the next is a knocking I have between the engine and the transmission. It seems to be located in the bell housing area and goes away with the clutch depressed. Things I am doing at 62 that I never thought I could do. Yay You Tube University and Professor CR.

    Hi Thank you for your TH-cam videos on the 414. they have been very usefully as I have IH444. With regard the Differential how do you split it to replace the diff lock shaft. I have removed the retaining bold but cant see how to split unit is there a tool that is required ?

    • @CanadianRedneck15
      @CanadianRedneck15  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Besides the bolts the differential has dowels that hold things solid. I find the best way is to wedge a small chisel between the halves to force them apart. Thanks for watching!

    Hi Dave, another great video! I have a bottom end leak and it’s coming from what’s described in my B414 parts manual as the clutch housing “hand hole cover”. The manual shows a “sealing strip” which is clearly the source of the leak. What is a sealing strip and can I simply use some gasket maker or do I need a gasket of some sort? Thanks in advance!

    • @CanadianRedneck15
      @CanadianRedneck15  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That sealing strip is a strip of felt or some-such that is meant to keep water and dirt out, there should be no oil in the clutch housing so it is leaking in from either the engine or transmission. Take the tin plate off the bottom of the clutch housing and check if you can tell where the oil is coming from. Thanks for watching!

    • @malcolmbrown9266
      @malcolmbrown9266 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Canadian Redneck Thank you so much Dave! Now I’m really worried. It looked like gear oil vs engine oil but I’ll take a look. It was leaking quite steadily when the engine was running. Thanks again.

    Hi Dave,
    My B414 reverses ok on level ground with no load but with a trailer hitched up or with a load on the 3 point jib/ crane or when reversing up an incline... it will start to reverse then jump jump jump - attempting to back up but going nowhere.
    What do you think would cause this? It doesn't like reversing against any strain/ load.

    • @CanadianRedneck15
      @CanadianRedneck15  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Could be a few things but first to mind would be a problem with the reverse idler shaft., the splines on the shaft could be worn so the gears slips, the case could be worn so the gear can slip past the gear on eth main shaft or some other issues of that nature. You are going to have to lift the hydraulic cover and the shifter cover so you can see in the transmission and find out where the problem is. Thanks for watching!

    I love your videos. I have my father's 444 now that he has passed away and his won't stay in high range unless you hold the lever while traveling. Everything else works fine except that, would you have any idea what could be the cause. I can't find any information on it so far.

    • @CanadianRedneck15
      @CanadianRedneck15  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      That is likely the sliding quill gear, a hollow splined shaft that runs on needle bearings on the top shaft. The bearings are probably bad causing the hollow shaft to wiggle around and shove the high range collar out of gear. Thanks for watching!

    Good day. GOOD video what would a bearing that was shot,( was that going transmission) cost. Yesterday I watch grease monkey1 take big JD transmission apart very big bearings. Thanks

    • @CanadianRedneck15
      @CanadianRedneck15  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      The bearing for this job was about $40 or $50 dollars, but there can be quite a range, up to a few hundred depending on the design. Thanks for watching.

    I've got an Australian B275
    Can't select reverse gear.
    Were do you wrecken i should start looking?

    • @CanadianRedneck15
      @CanadianRedneck15  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      If the selector goes into reverse and there is nothing there you need to check out your transmission gears, if the selector simply won't go into reverse it could be the reverse shift rail has an obstruction so it can't go to reverse (does first gear work?), the splines on the top shaft may have damage or dirt that is blocking the gear from moving to reverse or there may be a bearing issue so that the gear teeth won't mesh. You will have to remove the shift cover to check any of these issues. Good luck and thanks for watching!

  • @wezrauk
    @wezrauk 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Have a B414 with a stuck clutch I think, can't put it in gear without much grinding, doesn't stop moving with clutch depressed. Any tricks to unstick or is it a split job do you think?

    • @CanadianRedneck15
      @CanadianRedneck15  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's likely time to split but first you can try rolling around in about 3 or 4 low range holding down the clutch pedal and jump on the brakes, that may break it free. (Make sure you have lots of space so you don't run into anything!)
      Thanks for watching!

    • @CanadianRedneck15
      @CanadianRedneck15  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The shift fork could be bent so the gear doesn't fully engage or the teeth are worn like a wedge and force it out of gear when under pressure. Thanks for watching!

    Hi Dave I got a 424 gas 1967 tractor a few months ago that had set for close to 10 years and seems to be the same problem that you had with this 414 , stalls when you let the clutch out. My question is if the transmission is the same and if you think it would be the same. I did not find water when I pulled the drain plug out. Think you for your time.

    • @CanadianRedneck15
