Le Labo can be a controversial fragrance house. Generally using more natural blends, Le Labo focuses more on 'bright' perfume profiles for both genders. Most of their bottles are £150 in price, do you think they're worth it? What are your thoughts on the brand in general? What do you think are the best Le Labo fragrances?

Patchouli 24 is one of most underrated scents I've met, there's no other with a (really) similar profile to that. Despite the name patchouli is noticeable mostly only in first phases, then - I agree - birch with styrax takes the lead. I tend to like masculine, darker, captivating scents and P24 amongst Smoke Akro, Montecristo Masque Milano, Le Lion Chanel and Oud Seven Matiere Premiere are still one of my favourites. I also agree it's not easy to wear, can be polaryzing but after smelling almost 700 different niche offerings I can say it's really unique and worth trying, if you're a fan of darker, mystical scents. ;)
Closest to P24 would be Hortus Sanitatis Gucci but it's easier to wear and not that heavy (which some of you may like more).

One seriously underrated Le Labo is MUSC 25. My wife and I went to the LA store recently to check out some of the other scents and we both unexpectedly fell in love with MUSC 25. She found it incredibly sexy. The name made me think it would be a super pungent, animalic, dark fragrance but it’s actually very subtle, light, and beautiful

Just recently found out they have a store here in San Diego and though I’ve tried a couple of their scents (also wasn’t in to Santal 33 either.) I was more into noir 29 which lasted well into the next DAY for me, but had some notes that I thought were somewhat unpleasant as well. I’m pretty excited though because I like the idea of exploring this. And it looks like I’ll be able to have some first-hand experience in a local store.

I have 4 large bottles of Le Labo-Santal 33, Ambrette 9, Another 13, Thé Noir. All worth it. Everyone has a chemistry and while I appreciate reviews, nothing beats going to the store and trying it yourself and then sitting with it a few days. My ultimate favorite is Santal 33 and I don’t smell pickle juice at all. I got a sampler from Nordstrom and couldn’t live without it.

They claim that they can smell it before I enter the room, in a good way:) After using it three months, I can smell it in my closet, and when I open the bottle cap, also in my office. I'm surprised by your review by The Noir 29 because this was the one that worked the best on my skin and was meh when spritzed on paper. I loved the masculine/unisex vibe of it as I'm not someone who leans toward feminine or safe scents much even tho I'm female. My other two top picks from Le Labo would be from their City Exclusives - Benjoin 19 (preferred this to Musc 25) and Aldehyde 44 (surprising for me as I don't usually go for fresh and clean scents) after sampling everything in that collection. I also loved Cuir 28 as one of the better Oud scents I've tried (I find Oud scents very hard to perfect and fall in love with), and Tubereuse 40. Gaiac 10 on the other hand, it needed time to settle in before I could appreciate it fully. In terms of Another 13, I preferred Diptyque's L'Eau Papier because Another 13 kinda felt more synthetic to me whereas L'Eau Papier was more fresh and natural.

Your Noir 29 review was surprising to me because I find that the performance is the best I've ever encountered. The smell lasts on my skin for 10+ hours, my clothes into the next day and actually lasted (accidentally) on a rope bracelet I wore for 24+ hours and through a swim and a shower... and it is easily my most complimented fragrance.

Jasmine has a great opening, but doesn’t last.

Bergamot is nice, but doesn’t last on me, but lasts all day on a girl I know.

Patchouli is a smoke bomb that I don’t understand.

Le Labo Gaiac 10 is my signature fragrance. I adore that fragrance !!
After that I love Another 13, Rose 31 and Citron 28. After listening to your review I am going to order a decant of Bergamote 22, it sounds like something I'd like. I don't find the sillage of any of the Le Labo fragrances very good, but I just happen to really love that line anyway, but, that's me. I could never understand the total love everybody has over Creed Aventus, I think it's brutal because it can clear a room it's so overpowering yet people just love it and I'll always wonder why I don't feel that way at all. Perfume is so personal, we can't all love the same thing or it would be a dull world. I'm very happy with the Le Labo line and will continue with it because I think their fragrances are very unique. I'm lucky I have a good perfume decant house where I can buy City Exclusives all year.

I know, that we both like animalic qualities of musks in perfumery, Omar, but Oud 27 is not worth trying. This is not well blended and the olfactive profile is horribly fecal smelling. Definitely opposite thing to the mass appeal. Absolutely agree about Vetiver 46. And I think people, who love Neroli should definitely put their noses to Nio by Xerjoff. Gorgeous natural perfumery where neroli naturals and bergamot raw materials are blended so beautifully. Very elegant.
Regarding bergamot natural olfactive profiles, definitely Bergamotto di Calabria EDT by Acqua Di Parma is my recommendation instead of Le Labo offerings. Surprisingly, I quite liked Patchouli 24 by this brand, this is a very big exception together with Vetiver 46.\
    Very nice vid!

It’s a good thing you couldn’t find Oud27. If the fragrance could be an image, it would be that of a dirty tunnel that is frequently used by people to defecate in. Some say it smells like cat piss but I find it smells more like an underpass that is home to an itinerant. Highly provocative smell that is NOT for the faint of heart. I’ve contemplated getting a bottle for show but I just cannot handle the smell.

@@SchoolofScentit’s been a while and I’ve gotten my bottle of Oud 27 😂 I revisited my sample from last year and fell in love. Ambery musky florals with a little animalic touch up top.
I find with most Le Labo scents, it’s necessary to let them macerate for a few weeks or more. I suggest you revisit some of these samples cause time does wonders. The Noir 29 and Rose 31 have nuclear performance on me, lasting for 12 hours on skin and weeks on clothes, even surviving washes.
It has become my favourite perfume houses.

I'm surprised you didn't rate the performance for alot of these as they are some of the most godlike performers I've tried. Also yes the blend is simple, this is because they train all their staff to be able to make the scents in store on demand Infront of the customers. You are paying more for that detail so it's definitely not for everyone.
