Actually it's the other way around with the nes top loader. Nintendo recalled the top loader shortly after release due to a hardware problem but next to nobody actually sent theirs back, so most top loaders are actually more prone to hardware failure

All my love goes to the 2ds, my mom wouldnt let me get a 3ds when it came out because i get migraines but i wanted animal crossing new leaf. So when the 2ds came out, it was a god send. I was so excited i broke out the piggy bank and got the console with my own money then my parents got a few games for me, which made the lower price a plus too :)

my god im so sorry. it just seems like the wii mini is just a way for kids to be disappointed with something they dont want while their parents angrilly say "its what you asked for stop being ungrateful" They should never have released that, it really is only another opportunity for the kind of parent that never wants to get their kid what they want, but will instead get them some compromised version of it and get mad when the kid doesnt like it, to disappoint their child some more.
I bought the new model but it didn't start so i sent it back and they gave me the older model with gamecube compatibility for the same price. (I paid it 80 €, was the last in store during holidays). If only i had known about the compatibility earlier (I didn't know about model differences) i would have played so many more games
@@saarj Becouse on Nintendont you can use bluetooth controllers, the only thing you will be missing is official stuf like the link cable for connecting the gba.

Actually no, it's quite smart. The accessories included, new, all stack up to $100 anyway (at least back then). Just sell the Wii Mini with a 3rd party Wiimote for $50 to $70 & buy a 2nd hand OG Wii with that money.

I had a PS3 slim, I got it when the PS4 was coming out, I had been using my PS2 for years, our family weren't well off so when I got that PS3 for Christmas it was like... Christmas. The slim was cheap and had the ability to be upgraded (in terms of storage) so I don't think it's fair to call it useless. It was for those who had tight wallets or at least that's how it felt
I had the ps3 slim, but it failed on me. Then I got the ps3 super slim which I love! I may be in the minority, but I really like the manual top loader… you’re disc will never get stuck in the machine!
The original PS3 must have gotten overly conscious of its thiccness and decided to stop eating completely as a result. The PS3 Super Slim should have been called the PS3 Anorexic.

the ps3 slim (2nd model) was the most beautiful console imo. it's the only console i've ever had that i would occasionally just admire it's beauty. it looks pretty similar to the original ps2 but has a nicer look and feel to it. i also think the dreamcast was a very nice looking console.
I had to get a 2DS because my mom thought the 3D would hurt my eyes. I convinced her to get me the New 3DS XL for my 11th birthday and it’s probably my favorite looking system I’ve ever had. It looks really slick and the screens are great.
My mom doesn't want to buy me a new 3ds because I broke my other ones, thing is, I was 7 and now I'm about to be twelwe and she still thinks I'll break a new 3ds!

Forever a PS2 Fat supporter. It's impressive how they managed to cram all of that into the slim at the time, but it was way too small for my liking. The OG PS2 design is one of the G.O.A.T.s
I just like the redundancy of having a power button and switch but I will admit that the slim was much less prone to giving burn rings on the discs if you moved the console with the disc was in use

The Game Boy Micro is also a hardy system. My Famicom styled one was stepped on and thrown against a wall. No damage aside from a small bit of red paint from the back side of it, but it also had another layer of red under it, so it still looks fine. Love pulling it out randomly and people just look so confused on what I was playing.
I don't think I'd consider a licensed system a revision. It's like saying the JVC X'Eye is a revised Sega CDX. Sure they play the same games, but while one is meant as a game console, the other is moreso meant as a multimedia machine that just happens to play video games. The Panasonic Q is a game console, but it's really not a revised Gamecube. More an offspring or hybrid if anything else
My ex girlfriend’s dad was a broke substitute teacher, and I remember her younger siblings getting that awful $99 budget wii for Christmas. Something about it was so immensely depressing. The wii was almost ten years old at the time, and the thing looks like a famiclone you’d get at a mall kiosk.

just realized my dsi is six years old, no issues, perfectly functional. i love it with all my heart because it was my first “console” and i kinda grew up on it, even though i got it soooo much later after it came out
the DSi was THE definitive DS for me. The design was so slick and cool. It definitely felt like it was not aimed at kids. That's the same feeling I have about the New 2DS.

@@aldyn4106 Because it's not. For it to be a revision it has to have the same purpose as the previous incarnation. This has a different purpose. That's like calling the handheld turbo grafx 16 a revision.
The original ps3 was super confusing. Only certain hard drive sizes were backwards compatible with ps2 games. And even more complicated, one of those hard drive sizes (I think 40 or 80gb?) was only compatible if it had a certain number of USB ports on the front.

Only the 20 and 60gb units were actually backwards compatible. But the 20gb unit only had Ethernet with no wifi and the 60gb until had a version with 2 USB ports instead of 4 that wasn't backwards compatible at all. And there was also an 80 bg until that was kind of backwards compatible but the ps2 compatibly barely worked and was later removed. And then there's another 80gb unit with 2 less USB ports than the first one that could never play ps2 games. Yeah it's a fucking mess
@@funnychimpdotcom8455 the 80gb worked almost with everything. There were certain big titles like Jak and Daxter 1 that run in like 5fps so the backlash was maximized. I gave the 80gb to my nephew and I have the 60gb who just inherited the ps4s original 1tb hd. Upgraded my ps4pro to 2tbs. It is fucking full already. Sony please for the ps5, if still using discs, actually use them and don't do mandatory installs. //end of rant
The N64 and GameCube failed because they were chocked full of mistakes. The Wii U failed because everyone automatically assumed it was a portable because the gamepad had a screen, and a handful of people thought it was a Wii addon (aka, they couldn't do a Google search)

Personally I VERY much prefer the "new" 2DS XL out of every single version of the 3DS/2DS family. The bread slice 2ds never felt comfy to me, but my kids love it. I had a new 3ds xl (actually 2 at one point because I thought having one that I liked the color scheme of more would finally totally make it click for me) and the weight always really made my hands hurt after just 20 min or so. I also only ever used the 3d long enough to see how it looked in a particular game but never more than that. The new 2ds xl has just extremely light compared to the others, had a matte finish that seems to hide fingerprints forever and never show scuffs/scratches. I still used mine up until getting a switch lite, and occasionally still bust it out to play some Mario 3D land or something. Anywho thanks for coming to my Ted Talk on "why Scott was wrong to dismiss the new 2DS XL" 🤪
I also went with the 2DS XL, wasn't interested in the non-foldable 2ds and due to an eye condition the 3d feature didn't work on me anyway, so the extra cost didn't really make sense. I agree the weight of it is comfortable for long sessions as well. Plus I'm pretty sure at the time I bought it the cost difference was $50 not $30.

I think as long as it’s taken care of and not thrown around like a ragdoll, there shouldnt be much problems besides normal aging. I got my NES complete in box from a flea market and it was in great condition so that tells me it was in good hands previously and I havent had any problems with it either.

When I was 9, I almost broke my wii trying to open the gamecube controller compartment.
I had the second model.
I was disappointed when I found out I had the second model of the Wii. I remember really wanting to play GameCube games on it.

Yeah as a kid I didn't really like the design of the 2DS I was a HUGE fan of the DS and 3DS but not the design of the 2DS.
As a wii mini owner I can tell you that other than the no internet, every single game looks over 10 times shittier than on the wii or Wii U

I had a PS3 slim, I got it when the PS4 was coming out, I had been using my PS2 for years, our family weren't well off so when I got that PS3 for Christmas it was like... Christmas. The slim was cheap and had the ability to be upgraded (in terms of storage) so I don't think it's fair to call it useless. It was for those who had tight wallets or at least that's how it felt
I had the ps3 slim, but it failed on me. Then I got the ps3 super slim which I love! I may be in the minority, but I really like the manual top loader… you’re disc will never get stuck in the machine!
The original PS2 model having a workout montage to become the Slimline design is my headcanon now. Don't judge me.

The original PS2 remains my favourite design for any console, the 360 a close second. The slim was good but did lack support for the hard drive.
The 700xx PS2 Slim kinda had HDD support, but you would have to do some pretty hard soldering work.
the ps3 slim (2nd model) was the most beautiful console imo. it's the only console i've ever had that i would occasionally just admire it's beauty. it looks pretty similar to the original ps2 but has a nicer look and feel to it. i also think the dreamcast was a very nice looking console.
PS2 slim scratches disks. I learned the hard way.

I had to get a 2DS because my mom thought the 3D would hurt my eyes. I convinced her to get me the New 3DS XL for my 11th birthday and it’s probably my favorite looking system I’ve ever had. It looks really slick and the screens are great.
My mom doesn't want to buy me a new 3ds because I broke my other ones, thing is, I was 7 and now I'm about to be twelwe and she still thinks I'll break a new 3ds!

Forever a PS2 Fat supporter. It's impressive how they managed to cram all of that into the slim at the time, but it was way too small for my liking. The OG PS2 design is one of the G.O.A.T.s
I just like the redundancy of having a power button and switch but I will admit that the slim was much less prone to giving burn rings on the discs if you moved the console with the disc was in use
The slim always broke one me. Went through 2 of them. Pretty sure they destroyed discs more then the fat one. I still have my fat ps2
@@christopherbassit2757 Yeah, my PS2 slim's destroyed a lot of discs too. It almost destroyed my Persona 4 DVD recently. Thankfully I fixed the issue and it's fine again. Don't know much about the fat one though, I got my PS2 in 2010.

The Game Boy Micro is also a hardy system. My Famicom styled one was stepped on and thrown against a wall. No damage aside from a small bit of red paint from the back side of it, but it also had another layer of red under it, so it still looks fine. Love pulling it out randomly and people just look so confused on what I was playing.

I don't think I'd consider a licensed system a revision. It's like saying the JVC X'Eye is a revised Sega CDX. Sure they play the same games, but while one is meant as a game console, the other is moreso meant as a multimedia machine that just happens to play video games. The Panasonic Q is a game console, but it's really not a revised Gamecube. More an offspring or hybrid if anything else

Same here. My OG DS hinges cracked though, which was apparently a common issue due to the weight of both halves.
the DSi was THE definitive DS for me. The design was so slick and cool. It definitely felt like it was not aimed at kids. That's the same feeling I have about the New 2DS.

Modern TVs are actually much more likely to accept RF than AV. Every TV has a coax input and a tuner but lots of TVs have nothing but coax and HDMI.

The original ps3 was super confusing. Only certain hard drive sizes were backwards compatible with ps2 games. And even more complicated, one of those hard drive sizes (I think 40 or 80gb?) was only compatible if it had a certain number of USB ports on the front.

Just look at some tables at wiki, it’s much easier that way.
Only the 20 and 60gb units were actually backwards compatible. But the 20gb unit only had Ethernet with no wifi and the 60gb until had a version with 2 USB ports instead of 4 that wasn't backwards compatible at all. And there was also an 80 bg until that was kind of backwards compatible but the ps2 compatibly barely worked and was later removed. And then there's another 80gb unit with 2 less USB ports than the first one that could never play ps2 games.

@@funnychimpdotcom8455 the 80gb worked almost with everything. There were certain big titles like Jak and Daxter 1 that run in like 5fps so the backlash was maximized. I gave the 80gb to my nephew and I have the 60gb who just inherited the ps4s original 1tb hd. Upgraded my ps4pro to 2tbs. It is fucking full already.
Sony please for the ps5, if still using discs, actually use them and don't do mandatory installs.

I've always found it weird how the Nintendo 64, Gamecube and Wii U are so underrated considering they were good consoles.
The N64 and GameCube failed because they were chocked full of mistakes. The Wii U failed because everyone automatically assumed it was a portable because the gamepad had a screen, and a handful of people thought it was a Wii addon (aka, they couldn't do a Google search)
I saved money to buy a gameboy advance and when I saw the Sp I was like “That’s for losers” then I saw all the improvements and saw the original one and thought “That’s for losers”, on the other side I love the gameboy advance sp

Personally I VERY much prefer the "new" 2DS XL out of every single version of the 3DS/2DS family. The bread slice 2ds never felt comfy to me, but my kids love it. I had a new 3ds xl (actually 2 at one point because I thought having one that I liked the color scheme of more would finally totally make it click for me) and the weight always really made my hands hurt after just 20 min or so. I also only ever used the 3d long enough to see how it looked in a particular game but never more than that. The new 2ds xl has just extremely light compared to the others, had a matte finish that seems to hide fingerprints forever and never show scuffs/scratches. I still used mine up until getting a switch lite, and occasionally still bust it out to play some Mario 3D land or something. Anywho thanks for coming to my Ted Talk on "why Scott was wrong to dismiss the new 2DS XL" 🤪

I also went with the 2DS XL, wasn't interested in the non-foldable 2ds and due to an eye condition the 3d feature didn't work on me anyway, so the extra cost didn't really make sense. I agree the weight of it is comfortable for long sessions as well. Plus I'm pretty sure at the time I bought it the cost difference was $50 not $30.
Personally, I was just excited to see a 2DS that didn't reek.

I think as long as it’s taken care of and not thrown around like a ragdoll, there shouldnt be much problems besides normal aging. I got my NES complete in box from a flea market and it was in great condition so that tells me it was in good hands previously and I havent had any problems with it either.
