    My husband is a Lineman: he has all of the skills and knowledge to be able to deliver power to homes and businesses. But when he walks in the door of his home, the lights don’t shine brighter for him than they do for me. The microwave doesn’t cook faster for him than for me. I have access to JUST as much of that power as he does. It is the same with the Priesthood. Men who are ordained to the priesthood are like linemen delivering power- they don’t have access to more priesthood power than women and quite frankly: I don’t want to be out digging trenches in the rain and snow or sweating to death in the summer heat.

      @@colinjohns1947 that is a distinction without a difference. A stewardship is the conducting, supervising, or managing of something. especially : the careful and responsible management of something entrusted to one's care. My daughter has dropped off the church grid for the very reasons this ex church member spouts. It breaks my heart. We have a great relationship in every way except spiritual things. I wish she would watch this and hang around more women like you 4. As a member of our wards bishopric, i feel no more powerful than when i was teaching 12 year olds in sunday school. Its a church calling, nothing more. Its not permanent and it certainly isnt a means to some power ladder ascention. My wife teaches the 10 year olds in primary and she is more influential to so many more people than the 3 stooges who sit on the stand every sunday. The only reason i enjoy my current calling is because of who im serving with. They are excellent men of faith. Our wives are better than that. We couldnt do our callings without our wives. No way... i need to add that Jesus Christ is the one in power. We simply run things as directed by Him. Anyone attempting to be smarter than God and trying to function in the church as someone weilding real power will wreck everything because everyone will lose trust in what they are doing.

I typically discuss Chivalry or Equality v Chivalry AND Equality. Simple form is the Military Draft here in the U.S. If you enter the selective service you get a Vote --> Feminists Go insane with this concept. What they don't understand is that when a man registers to vote they are ALSO registering for the Selective Service. Men and Women are different but can only be complete together.

      Sister Power! Great ideas. I love how God has lead them each to understanding.
      I agree about addressing Heavenly Father and our Mother answering the call. I have had that experience. I had a very sacred experience once in a Temple when I felt the presence of an ancestor and of a girl in my posterity. It took me a couple of years to understand that this spiritual promise ultimately came from my Heavenly Mother/ Parents. The scope of our Heavenly Mother’s influence on the world, on the women of the world is so vast!!! Our Father asks us to address Him because the children of God are corrupt and fallen. Imagine a teenager mistreating his parents when the Dad says 1. Don’t speak to your Mother that way. 2. Talk to me. Man to Man OR Daddy Daughter. He is asking us to address Him. Come curse or prayer. Then as we are worthy of all goodness and receive of His light then we are able to see our Heavenly Parents reigning and leading the human family. Just as I was able to see my Heavenly Mother’s influence vía my grandmother and my future granddaughter’s presence inviting me to bear a 4th child. That pregnancy was extremely difficult and life threatening but I was protected and the promise given me that day was fulfilled by my Heavenly Parents.

      My husband was a Bishop. Being Bishop makes you a servant. So do these women do their ministering? Do they help others all times of the day or night? Do they want to counsel members whose heart is breaking and know that you have to tell them “they have to stop what they are doing. They are the problem?” Leadership is hard! Being the Bishop’s wife is hard because your husband comes home red eyed & crying. He can’t talk to you about it. And it does affect all members of his family. So there’s that.
      But as a woman I love him enough to be patient and let God & the Savior help him.

So how does that make them more powerful? It is an office for leadership - The Priesthood is there to serve people! Heavenly Father is organized in His church - we are all here to serve our fellow men. Thanks guys for this!!

    God placed HIS priesthood power into the Church so that God can accomplish his work and glory. It was not given to men to make them feel powerful or make them feel good about themselves or make them above women. Women who desire the priesthood for their own selfish desires of feeling more powerful or feeling more empowered is NOT what the priesthood is about. Some women make things all about themselves.

      Jokes like this are what cause women to fight against male authority in the church (which I agree is wrong to do). There are still a lot of men in the church who resent women having an equal position in the home, for example. These men resent the temple changes and wish we were still in the days of Brigham Young. I know because I've gotten into conversations with them. They translate their Priesthood office as giving them superior authority in the home. So perhaps some women, when encountering these attitudes, feel that if they had the same Priesthood, they wouldn't get these attitudes from men? I agree that Priesthood authority in the church can be left with men, as they provide the ordinances for spiritual rebirth, as women provide temporal birth.

    Oh my gosh, just starting this, but that "ex-Mormon" saying women are encouraged to drop out of college - what in the world?!!! Is she quoting some misguided suggestion from the 60s?! What time warp did she step out of? Let's just list ALL the articles, talks, devotionals from church leadership encouraging women to get their education. And while a college degree is certainly not required, it is also not in the least bit discouraged. So, are they lying or just so far from the light they can't see truth anymore?

    Who birthed the Son of God? Who did Christ first reveal himself to as he began his earthly ministry? Who did Christ first appear to following His resurrection? The woman was the first to partake of the fruit for a reason. God’s plan could not be implemented without women first agreeing to place their lives on the line with every spirit brought to the millions of earths God created. And it doesn’t matter if a woman has or doesn’t have children, the agreement was made in the preexistence.

    This is an important conversation, and overall I thought it was well done. Thank you! However, I feel that we should have empathy for women who struggle with seeing mostly men in top leadership. I’ve gone through different phases. When I was young, I was angry and distrustful of men because my father had an affair. I left the church for a while and witnessed men behaving badly. When I returned a few years later, I had some wonderful male role models, such as my mission president, who helped in my healing process. Now, I’m so grateful for good men and I see our older, male leadership as a blessing. I would encourage dialogue and understanding with women who are feeling this way.

    Here are a few more thoughts from a fellow real LDS woman:
    - Stop saying that women who are asking for more power are doing so out of selfishness and pride. It's not power to control others that they want, it's power over their own lives and the respect they deserve to have opportunities, whether or not they ultimately choose to take them.
    - How come when you talk about men fulfilling callings, you focus on how service-oriented they are, but when women express interest in the same callings, now it's out of self-serving greed? Does it not stand to reason that individuals might find personal fulfillment by serving others in a leadership role, be they male or female? Is being power-hungry the only reason you can think of for women to want to have the same experiences the men do? What of the men, then?
    - My most salient experience with this was on my mission, when the Church was literally my whole entire life. Sister missionaries have virtually no possibilities for additional responsibilities. I worked my absolute hardest and I will tolerate no allusions to the contrary, but I felt I had no ability to be an active participant in my own life. I was allowed no capacity to be an asset to my fellow missionaries. Only because I was a woman. It almost broke me. Why is this a moral failing for women, but not for men?
    - I think it is wonderful that many women appreciate being a "portal between realms" by being able to give birth, but you have to accept that not all of us feel a connection or affinity for that process. Rather than a blessing for the mother, I see it as a sacrifice that she must offer, because at the end of the day, that child also belongs to the father and he went through none of the pain.
    - Men and women should absolutely be supporting each other. You're right that women who are full-time moms should not handle everything; their husbands should take on some responsibilities, too. Just like dads can take care of the kids while their wives take on other responsibilities. Doesn't mean that women shouldn't have opportunities beyond her children. Those are the dad's children, too; why deny him the blessings of fatherhood? Why deny women other opportunities?
    There are many women who have experienced true hurt because of this issue. Please do not dehumanize them by placing the blame on their shoulders before having compassion for their lived experiences.

    • @JohnSmith-fd4ws
      @JohnSmith-fd4ws 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I agree with you. There are still a lot of traditional thinking men who think women getting any step up in authority, in the home for example, is wrong, and that any woman asking for equality is a power hungry "feminist" when this isn't true.

    • @kurstenmason7132
      @kurstenmason7132 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I empathize with your feelings. I’m in my 50’s and have struggled at times with traditional gender roles and the order in the church. Did you serve a mission before sister training leaders? I did and felt like some of the DL’s and ZL’s were power hungry. I also see that many things have changed since then, and women do have greater opportunities (such as STL’s). I’ve served as a YW, Primary, and most recently RS Pres. I didn’t seek for any of those callings. Like serving a mission, they were all-consuming for me. I had stewardship over male and female teachers, dads and families who needed welfare aid, camps, ministering couples, etc. I had the privilege of working with good, dedicated Bishops, EQ presidents, and YM leaders who listened and took my counsel. I’ve raised three children, worked, homeschooled, and served in many capacities. In the end, I’m very grateful for men who step up and take responsibility, serve, and are dependable (there are too many who are not). Men are ordained to Priesthood positions to serve, women are not; however, we both receive priesthood authority when we’re set apart. The power of the Priesthood, God’s power, comes when we make and keep covenants. This power is different than authority to serve in a calling and is equal for men and women. In the temple, you are washed and anointed to become a queen and a priestess. Godly Kings and queens are one, Heavenly Father and Heavenly Mother are one in love and purpose, but they do have different roles. We can be equal in Priesthood power, but still have different responsibilities.

    ronically enough people forget what the priesthood really is. Look at D+C 121. The Priesthood CANNOT be used for anything other than for the benefit of the people of the earth. It CANNOT be used for your vain ambition, unrighteous dominion, it can ONLY be used when one is meek, humble, submissive, righteous, etc. none of these women who want power would even qualify to use Gods power in righteousness. One can be called and set apart but it doesn’t mean that one is worthy to use that power.
    Their pride keeps them from this. Their want and lust for power keeps them from this.
    The priesthood isn’t some magical power like what is showcased in Harry Potter.
    It is Gods power. There are laws to govern how the priesthood is used.
    I doubt that these women have any amount of knowledge about the doctrine of what the priesthood is. And it shows when they show enmity towards the Church. It shows when they demand for more positions of power. To me it’s just a bunch of power hungry people. The women who deserve the priesthood are these four, because they understand what it truly is for.
    And the men of the church don’t get a pass either. There seems to be some who also don’t understand the doctrine of the priesthood either and when they use the title of the priesthood in a way to justify ruling over their spouse that also disconnects them from Gods power.
    If people understood what it means to be a priesthood holder there would be more respect, there would be more men who exemplify Christlike attributes, there would be better fathers, better husbands, better leaders, men who value doing the right thing, men who live in such a way that if called upon would be able to move mountains for the greater good of Gods children.
    We can’t use it to gratify ourselves. We can’t even give ourselves a blessing!
    It is a selfless gift that can only be used for selfless service.

    This was refreshing to hear from the younger generation. I was fortunate to grow up with a manly father and a mother who was always home when I came home from school. That’s all I ever wanted was to be a stay at home wife and mother. I think too many young women had mothers who were NOT home and maybe disengaged fathers. Does anyone think girls have no idea what they are truly missing from a normal family situation and therefore assuming it must be power they are lacking?

    Loved this!! I would love to hear more from the women. I wished they would have introduced themselves. I agree with what they said. As a woman who grew up in the church, I’ve never felt like I was less than or not important. Maybe things haven’t always been perfect, but what in this life is perfect? That’s not the church, that’s human kind. I don’t need a calling to give me power. My power comes from my relationship and covenants with my Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. And I have access to all of Christ’s power through those covenants, no different than holders of the priesthood.
