It's a fantastic card but paying 600$ for a liquid cooled 5700xt makes no sense. And then you also have to purchase your own radiator To make matters worse.
You are better off purchasing the regular red devil or Sapphire nitro + and overclocking it.

Agreed that paying 600 for a liquid cooled 5700xt doesn't make sense. But nobody is cross-shopping between this and an aircooled card, either you already have a custom loop, plan to build one anyways, or you don't, in which case this card is irrelevant to you.
No, the issue with this card is that a reference 5700, which has a really good PCB, and a full cover block to go with it is between 50 and 100 bucks cheaper, and will perform exactly the same
I was really interested in this card, cause i thought it would be cheaper or at least similarly priced to reference card + aftermarket block. But as it is it's pointless.

This is a late comment, but some people just enjoy building with parts that are intelligently designed. This card is more like buying a piece of art. It will only appreciate in value with time as it is such an odd entry into the 5700 xt lineup.

Navi is still (relatively) new, whereas Turing had the chance to improve over the span of a year+. However, some speculate that the "fine wine" driver treatment may not apply to Navi compared to Vega or Polaris. One thing is for sure, AMD has done a good job breathing life in my old Vega 56 to keep up decently in games at 1440p ultrawide.
I'll personally be waiting for Navi 2 (or Navi+, whatever they'll call it next)

    • @kishaloyb.7937
      @kishaloyb.7937 5 ปีที่แล้ว

@@TheNiteNinja19 It's too early to even talk about "Fine Wine", it takes at least 1.5 years to be able to notice any improvements but what I can say is that the drivers are improving.
I own a reference RX 5700 and when using the early drivers, the card would clock consistently between 1650-1680 mhz, considering that the upper limit is 1750 mhz, while using the latest Adrenalin 19.11.3 drivers, now the clocks consistently stay between 1685-1710 mhz, not a huge bump but proves that the drivers are actually improving over time, not to mention that the cards overall stays 5 degree C cooler than before, using the latest drivers.
Also modern game engines are getting optimized with the RDNA ISA, so games should start performing better on RDNA GPUs.

I'm gonna play the Devil's Advocate here and say that this card might not be overpriced Devil you think it is when you take all things into consideration. Right now EKWB has five different models of water block for the 5700/XT starting at $135 going up to $190 for the special edition with the block being designed to look like the original blower cooler (why?!?!?!?!). Let's take the middle of the road price of $140 as there are two blocks at this price, two at $135 and one at $190. When you take all this into account with the price of a reference with a waterblock that you then have to install yourself, you're paying anywhere from $540-$590 and possibly voiding your warranty, depending on where you live. So, $600 for a better binned, pre-overclocked and water cooled 5700XT that includes a factory warranty and awesome looking custom plates isn't outside the realm of reasonable.

Another thought I just had that might make this card just a little bit sweeter. This couldn't simply be a partnership between EKWB and PowerColor. I think AMD had a hand in this card's creation as well and here is why:
PowerColor exclusively makes AMD video cards. That's it. Wouldn't AMD save the best binned silicon to be showcased in the best possible card there is from the partner that makes their cards exclusively? Some more food for thought.

I recently replaced the existing thermal paste in my MSI 5700XT MECH OC with Thermal Grizzly Conductonaut. There was a significant thermal improvement. Without any overclock, the Junction Temp at idle dropped from 33 to 26. The Current Temperature (using the terminology found in the Radeon Software) dropped from 28 to 26. The fact that the two are now the same is very telling. More importantly, prior to the change, I had a couple of games that routinely drove the Junction Temp to 112 (again, that is without any OC). Maybe not dangerous, but too high for my comfort. After adding the liquid metal the junction temp never goes over 80. My plan was to later add an AOI cooler to the GPU, but with the results I got from the change in thermal paste I have decided not to waste the money.

@@post-leftluddite Yes it's a hybrid card, because Nvidia, its partners and its customers don't bother with custom loops for mid tier GPUs. It's a silly idea, no matter how you look at it.
The Hybrid cooler does actively cool the memory and there's a low RPM fan on the VRMs. I have a hybrid cooler on my 1080Ti and I can run it silent with the GPU never going above 60°C, or 50°C if I make the fans spin a bit. This while the GPU draws up to 360W, and 2070S is only 215W at stock. Even a hybrid cooler is overkill, even for overclocking.
It doesn't matter how you try to spin it. With the Nvidia solution you get a faster GPU at a lower price, that comes in an all in one solution that doesn't require you to spend extra. This AMD card is an overpriced mid tier card that requires you to spend another 500$ minimum on more watercooling gear.

Just flash the Liquid Devil bios to the Red devil card and you can have "Unleash" mode on the Red Devil. These cards are the same. PowerColor always uses the same card and just put an EK block. I remember a long time ago the same sutiation with R9 290X PCS+ (air cooler) and LCS (Liquid EK block). The same card but the Liquid bios is binned a little bit more.

I'm surprised you didn't highlight that the reference with the EK block is like, $70 cheaper than this and performs just as well if you can hit the clocks.

Saw this on Newegg and it grabbed my eye. They really should have gone with blue RGB. Everything out there is red and I am being rebellious with my blue RGB rig.

I love my Gigabyte 2070 Super, but I like seeing more options other than reference/founders edition.
Still team green, but I love seeing more competition.
Running Modern Warfare at 60 Resolution at 4k is nice.

sapphire nitro+ 5700xt beats the red devil in cooling as sapphire uses a copper plate on the die so it allows the use of liquid metal which I used and edge temp at 60% fan stays under 73c junction tops out at 59~61c!

That kind of water block would be $150 or so. Call the extra beyond that the price of not worrying about installing it or verifying that your card is compatible.
If you want to compare it to any other card, you need to add $150 to the price of the other card (the price of an equivalent water block).
