Transit Van to Camper Van

- Hello!
over the past few months i have been helping an old friend (ben) convert his transit van into a camper van.
Ben loves to travel the country exploring new spots to go rock climbing. When ben approached me he said he wanted to keep things simple,a bed to sleep in and room for about two others along with simple storage solutions.
Ben did not wish to spend a fortune either but wanted to be able to upgrade the van in the future if possible.
I have decided to upload this video in two parts to discourage long videos ect.
Any questions please feel free to ask and i will try and answer to the best of my knowledge.
Until the next one

No vapour barrier! Hopefully you dont get mould problems behind the cladding especially with no windows or ventilation :0
I’ve just discovered this and was hoping to binge watch it all, now I’m going to be obsessively checking my subscriptions. You guys did a great job, would have never thought of supporting the bed legs like that.
Laura Bonsell thank you for your kind words! It’s all good fun !
Love it good job boys I got a transit I wish someone could make mine a camper graint job
Great job lads, but I hope you don't blow a rear bulb as it wont be easy to remove those rear lights now :)
would love to see part 2!
Hi Guys, I have a strange question. Did you may be find that the side panels outside (ot the sliding door but the opposite site where two panels connecting) of the van are leaking and the water van come inside of the van? Do you have any idea how to fix? Thanks, Steven
where's part 2 at guys??
britishempires unfortunately a lot of footage we shot got encrypted.i am working on trying to get a video together of the final piece
@@tommycutztrees come on mate wheres part 2 looks like my van im at the ssme stage snd came on here for ideas i need the next part as your bed is the only practical 1 ive seen for a six foot bloke head by back doors feet facing bulk head cant fit the other way and i got a slight walk way on left hsnd side like you have as you look in through back doors please post part 2 thanks
deansdogs30 sorry brother for some reason my footage became corrupt, most the footage was lost however I have 3 final quick shots of the finished van, apologies.im working on adding them in the end
Thanks so much
What vapour barrier did you use
Nice work - but did he want a ventilation fan for his van, otherwise it's going to get pretty stuffy in there, especially if he has other people sleeping in there as well. I don't know if just opening one window would help that much - but to each their own I suppose. Looks great, anyway - looking forward to the finished product!
Nice mate transit sauna? Great work mate. Blaisey
Decent build. Since completing it, did the cladding shrink or see any gaps appear?
Hi Keith, the cladding didn’t shrink no,nor any gaps! My friend Ben actually sold this van about 2 years ago now,we never managed to upload the final shots of the van
Nice build lads, just to let you know there’s a button on both rear doors which allows them to open out 180 degrees instead of 90, might be worth ripping a section of the cladding out to cut a hole! Other than that looks class!
sorry to be so offtopic but does anybody know a trick to log back into an Instagram account??
I was dumb forgot the account password. I would love any tricks you can give me.
@Jameson Dominik Instablaster =)
@Ishaan Wesley I really appreciate your reply. I found the site thru google and im trying it out now.
Takes a while so I will get back to you later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
@Ishaan Wesley It did the trick and I finally got access to my account again. I'm so happy:D
Thank you so much, you really help me out !
@Jameson Dominik you are welcome :D
I've the same van and after spending £180 on stretch carpet and all that site I think I will do this lol looks no bad to do lol
Where you still able o access the sliding and rear door locks from the inside, nice finish
Pauline Bambalos yes ! Cheers
I wonder what the total build cost was minus the vehicle cost?
solid job lads, lots of quality yet no frills. did you a check on temperature at night? would be interesting to see in middle of winter etc how it holds up
What was the chilled song around 4mins in ha loved the vibe
Ash Campbell I am not sure buddy,it’s a good song though, maybe try to Shazam it?
What thickness ply ribs did you use for wall? Your van looks great!
No vapour barrier ur asking for big probs there
hey whats the mongomary song?
Grazie
Just brilliant boys what a nice job done on this this is how it’s supposed to be done ✅😊👍🏻
How far have you boys got now? Ive done a camper recently without any insulation on a SWB transit. Took me 3 weeks of flat out work every evening after my 7-4 job. Still not done though haha, lots I could have done better...
Hi,i'm hoping to do a transit camper in the future and i've just come across a video where a couple also didn't use any insulation and said they've never been cold, how have you found it,mine will be for weekends away and maybe a week here and there,it will also have a diesel heater.thanks.
@@davebron4888 hi mate. With experience now, I would recommend insulation that can block condensation from occurring to the panelling. Depending on the build quality of your vehicle, this can cause rusting if you expose your panels to that sort of moisture for long periods of time. Me and the missus started sleeping with the side door and windows cracked to get some ventilation going through.
Great soundtrack ...can we have your playlist?
Oh and the van...how is it ventilated when it's full of sleeping rock climbers?
Thanks for the comment david,I will try and dig out the tracks and Ben keeps his window open slightly for ventilation
Cladding is a weight I’d rather not carry
Looks like a Shed with a Mattress in it.
Beetlejuice 01 let’s see you do any better
😂
Awsome dude!! Is your van a fwd or rwd?
How much would you say it cost to do this van build
Chris Rawson I haven’t got exact numbers, however it was most defiantly not over £1000.Thanks
How much did this cost? Hope you don’t mind me being nosy
Twiggie Smalls hi mate , just under 850 for materials,my labour was free but it took about 9 days all in
Hope this helps
REALLY Beautiful high-quality build. And it seems just right for you. But unfortunately I have claustrophobia and your results, beautiful as they are, are so closed in that just watching this is making me short-of-breath. . 😥
My thought exactly Elisa, that's not a camper, it's a coffin 😠☹👎
Bed takes up way too much space
No vapour barrier and no ventilation not good 🤣🤣🤣
Swb van. Waste of time
