I’m from Maine. Good snow tires are really what u need. A nice pair and some ppl use chains on the tires here too On 2 wheel drive vehicles and they have no problems
2-wheel drive is fine in town where the roads are periodically plowed. When the snow is 2' deep, what you really need is 4-wheel drive. Oh and try to avoid telling people what they really need.
Wow nice set up. 4wd would be a big help. Just get a set of tire chains & you will be able to go a lot of places. If you have room 200 or 300 feet of small cable like 5/16 & a hand winch / cum a long & 2 small blocks / pullys are nice to have also. A pickup axle & sledge hammer is nice to have also because you can beat the axle into the ground & winch on it. Then when you are going pull it out with the van. That might be too much stuff for you though.
We have had some considerably cold nights, with every single cover over us and all our clothes on. It’s a challenge and not a particularly enjoyable one.
Hey, i keep seeing ppl camping in their vans, using tv ,computers and consoles...but ,since it drains the car battery pretty fast, what source of electricity do u guys use? Solar panels?
Most people use what’s called a “house” battery. It’s charged by solar and a dc to dc charger off the starting battery. The house circuit is isolated from the car circuit so it won’t drain the car battery. Thats the short answer. 😊
That's awesome he took care of all the truck maintenance along with other things I'd do the same thing my girlfriend or wife is not going to lift a thing I'd say babe just relax I got this
@Roamlndr :: those of us that live in snow country considered to be extremely dangerous, as well as work. Knock your socks off. Remember that not every adventure works out well.
I had a van just like that for delivery. I got stuck virtually EVERYWHERE!!! I couldn't get across a frozen puddle!!! I like your set up.... But for christs sake, get a 4x4
Check out recent vids on axle swap and leaf springs. Game changer! For our long distance Overlanding, 2WD and good driving is actually a better solution. Thanks for watching. Stay on for the journey!
My feet always smell bad after I walk home from work. I thought about teaching them a lesson by breaking a few toes but I'm not sure feet understand things like that.
Oh, absolutely. We don’t ever have the fire going at night and we’re always in and out of the van during the day so there’s never a dangerous build up.
Thanks for watching, Nancy. Very few Shorts on this channel. Now we're Overlanding the Americas in a beefed up version of this van. Check it out. (We're tackling Baja Backroads these days.)
It's not a challenge if it isn't difficult. You learn just how tough you really are when you set yourself up to do things you know aren't going to be easy. That's the whole point!
Thats cool with fireplace and all
It’s all in the little things.🤌🏼
That tiny stove must have needed constant tending.
Yes it does, but it’s free fuel and keeps us toasty warm.
Is that CUTE, or what? That tiny stove!
It sure is!
While we have a spring heat wave in our part of the world , air-conditioners are on :)
Crazy! I’m quite glad we don’t need air conditioners right now.😳

I would love to be stuck there! Must've been so fun.
It was cozy!
It can get any closer to nature, beautiful
Music is nice too!
very nice. I always wondered if you could have a small wood stove if you had a top light that I didn't know if it was plastic top and would melt

Looks cool bro! Where can I get a small wood burning stove like that?

I was about to ask that
Stoves to small
@@williespoonemore3392 too not to. also the size is perfectly fine for warming up a small space like a van, and heating up 1 pan or kettle at a time.
@@cIoudbankAlso, it's "stove's", not "stoves" 😁
Such an awesome van!!
Thanks! You should see the updated van!😁
Nice

Oh God be Careful. That's what I tell my kids
Airing down is the secret to traction, sand of snow
You betcha. We use the trick sometimes almost daily depending on where we are.
Tire chains are a plus plus win
We’ll keep that in mind!
Very nice 👍 van that little stove is 😎 cool

The Road Chose Me book. Very inspirational
Read them both, great stories.
I want to try it in the snow. I nearly cried when it was 45 degrees at night under tons of blankets.

Dude, spend the money to have your van modded with a live front axle.
Heck, while you’re at it look into Dana 60’s front and rear.
All the best.
You go Hoss!! You’re taking care of business!! Were did Ya get that mini wood heater??🤔 That’s cool!

Where is toilet in your van?
We didn’t have one in this version of the van.
Animals know when winter is coming and make preparations. Some head South. Y’all must’ve misplaced the memo. Or are y’all from Kentucky? 😂
This was on the way north at the end of winter.😊
Go Chevy!!!
Heck yeah!🙌🏻🙌🏻
Why on Earth would you drive into the snow without snow tires and chains knowing that you'd probably get stuck?
For fun. 😁

Cool stove
Any chance you could tell me where you got that perfect tiny stove? I'm looking for one for my can that won't be too large.
It’s a company called Tiny-Stove.com, they’re in Switzerland. The stove is called the Peanut.

So you did get stuck not sort of you just dug out
No, just sort of.
Through some chains on and you should be g2g!
Ever thought about getting the van converted to 4WD?
Nope! If you watch our latest van tour I discuss why.😁

2006
It was just an average snowfall. No big deal.
