After 6 months of watching your vids I became a member. Appreciate all your content. After getting the ZT562Ti I knew I needed the XM-18. After a lot of back and forth and seeing the great selection at DLT Trading I picked up a 3" slicer! Waiting for a battle bronze Ti scale and maybe some green hardware in the future. Thanks again and keep up the great work!
That's awesome! Happy to hear you're enjoying my content 😊🤝
I bought a 3" stonewashed, dlc, no-choil, slicer after hearing you rave about Hinderers. I love it. My hands are smaller though, so that helps.
I never pulled the trigger on buying an XM-18 because I owned the ZT0562cf and thought it was just ok. Finally I pulled the trigger on an XM-18 3.5 Spanto in S45VN. Really, I just wanted to experience the steel. It didn’t take long for me to realize this was the nicest knife I’ve ever owned. I’ve owned 3 Chris reeve knives, 3 Medford’s, probably 20 or 30 Benchmades and 20 or 30 Spydercos...the list goes on. I just ordered another XM-18 3 inch spear point in M390 from DLT. I’ve been bit by the bug
That's awesome! Enjoy them! 🤘⚔
The no-choil seems very fitting for the 3". For the money, I'd personally like a bit more blade. This one sure is a beauty even with the green.
I’ve watched this video about 9 times because I’m so anxious to get mine....
Great overview! Completely agree with you that they should make a 3" flipper delete. I'd buy that so fast haha
Would be cool to see a budget hinderer, somewhere around the $200-250 area with steel frame lock or just a simple liner lock with g-10. Still have SOME of the customizability that comes with the hinderer brand. Just a thought
That'd be the Hinderer designed ZT 0562. It's almost exactly that.
And you wouldn't want a steel framelock at the $200 mark. Hinderer did a much less expensive steel framelock design through Kershaw called the Cryo and Cryo 2
Dude, just try a wiha 1/16 allen you are not gonna believe how GOOD it fits in those screws lol BHQ descriptions are wrong, and check out DLT trading's Pelican Hinderer Tool kit it says 1/16 allen for 3'' xm18 scale screws
love your videos btw :)
This without a flipper tab is my Excalibur
Go Coogs!! 🐾
Yes go coogs! However I'm at utmb now I might have to change my profile
Congrats!!! Best of luck at utmb!
Really nice knife. Small for my taste but I love the no-choil blade.
I just got a Xm-18 3", but I find it to be too small. It feels dainty to me compared to my Xm-24...lol
Great review! Thanks!
And no.. local hardware stores had spanner bits... I've checked.... cut a penny. You dont put a tork in a allen head .thanks for your review. Really??
Here's a link for a spanner bit. They ARE common.

And also, yes, some newer 3" models ARE TORX. Here's a link to the replacement screws from BHQ.

Keep your confidence in check until you know what you're talking about bud.
id trade my xm18 3.5 for a 3 inch any day
Kinda like.. the xm 18.5 non flipper is a bad ass.ps also Allen screws..
No choil, no flipper 3.5 slicer grind would be perfect for me
Have you ever had an original Eklipse?, that's the only Hinderer I have at the moment unfortunately. I've been using it hard for a few years now, and it's still one of my favorite knives. I really hope Rick Hinderer will do a full size version of the new eklipse, and I hope he will do a skinny version
Yes I have! There's a gen 2 in 20cv in my Hinderer Knives playlist 😁
@@metal_complex I guess I could have checked before I asked, lol. Mine must be older. Mine is S35VN. I need to see if Hinderer will do a re-blade, or regrind, it's getting really thick behind the edge from all the sharpening over the years
I believe there a allen head not torx bit. I never used a torx on a hinderer knife...
Only on some models. There are some, including this 3" that use torx. The heads are different sizes as well.
The 3” XM use a 1/16 hex head, we use the T6 for the Eklipse screws. They are very very close so the T6 will work in the 3”handle screws but the hex driver is a much better fit.
I edc a xm18 3” right now.
Non flipper I mean
I thought it took hex bits?
Not on these. The 3" uses torx. That's the 3.5" standard and fatty
Oh good to know
I have a 3" and it doesn't use torx it is American Allen key like Chris Reeve
1/16" hex on the spacer screws and 0.050" hex on the lock bar stabilizer and insert.
Is it an older model?
Pretty sure that Hinderer is making a 3 inch non flipper. 😁
He's actually done that a few times 😉
How has no one sent you a good set of calipers yet:)
Actually, someone did! Haha. This was recorded about 2 weeks ago 👍👍
I enjoy your channel but i cant understand your fashination for Hinderers? I own a 3,5 and It's rediciolysly overpriced i love the look of the knife and the sturdiness, but it flips like a Crkt pilar, not ok in my opinion. Got it to flip but it was a struggle to get both action and bladecentering to an acceptable point. And the thumbflick is still impossible😏 Mine is not a triway thou. Im still going to keep it just for the feeling, it's built like a tank.
You need to try a tri-way for sure! They're a huge step up IMO 😊👍
@@metal_complex i might sell mine and do so in the future🤔 but there are so many knifes i need😂 by the way when is the bloomerus rewiew coming up? You unboxed one resently been looking forward to it🙂
@@jonaspettersson8109 soon 😉
Your rat always could use a little love lol
