Fr some jobs core issue is that it makes their workers depressed. Having jobs where you have to find bodies in disasters, taking care CSA victims, watching elderly mentally decay from dementia etc. You are allowed to have emotions and that's what they don't want you have, any body anatomy
I was too depressed while working. I was just crying while working. I could pass it off as being sick for a while but after a month or two my boss said I'm a good worker but I'm just too depressing.
It's so capitalist (as evangelicalism and the prosperity gospel is). "You're depressed? That's not good! Just stop it so you can keep producing for me!" Driscoll, of course, wants his tithes and offerings. Tithing culture is not biblical but I've never been to a church that pointed that out (no matter whether they were being "literal" or "context specific"/ "culturally accurate" and "convey the spirit of the law/word" - the excuse used to get out of the "literal" argument). I wonder why. 🙄
The very idea that a person owns their own body is offensive to them (God owns it), and it makes it really hard for them to understand bodily autonomy and consent.
@@bretthansen3739spot on!! This notion was reenforced throughout all of my catholic schooling. Priests and higher members within the church would of course know best.
This is my exact thought. It shouldn't matter if someone is attracted to minors or animals or whatever. As long as you ain't raping kids or animals....I don't care. And if you feel like you might rape someone because of those feelings I'd rather you feel comfortable getting help than hiding it and letting it get worse until you snap and act.
@@humanaffectation9021honestly, while this is emotionally hard for me to agree to, it seems like an objectively better alternative. I’ve been a victim of CSA in the past, and while I’m still learning to process the baggage and turmoil that comes with that I’ll admit, if my abuser had just gone to someone trustworthy the moment they had those urges and gotten help instead of abusing me and other kids, that would have been better than what actually happened. I don’t think they were the kind of person to want that help, but idk.
I went to college with Mark Driscoll. He had a column in the campus newspaper where he spouted horrible misogyny and fire & brimstone and was generally eyerolled when his name came up. It was surreal to see him attain his level of fame/infamy in the real world.
Lol, yeah. I don't hate my job, but most days as I'm driving to work I think of all the other, more meaningful things I could be doing instead of it. And then I get depressed 🤣
Not only that, in states like Tennessee they are actively trying to lower the age of consent for women so that you could marry a 12 to 16-year-old. These laws are pushed by conservative Christians.
I think the elephant in the room behind the slippery slope to bestiality is that consent doesn't matter to them and is inherently excluded from their idea of sex and marriage. Marriage is compulsory in their community, you won't not do it, and then after the marriage sex is also compulsory and your objections are sin. Consent doesn't exist in this structure.
@@TonyLambregts *insightful. the spelling does matter here because they are two different words with very different meanings, but not mutually exclusive.
Unfortunately in the US, they only have to try to make it legal in I believe 4 states (perhaps more or less, but definitely under 10). Child marriage is legal in the majority of states :(
That's probably why the idea of the "protestant work ethic" exists. If you're working yourself to death then it's harder to think about anything beyond that work. Very beneficial to religious and political leaders.
I am officially Catholic and daughter has chores and has had chores since she was able to. Kids having chores isn't for just one group, it's done by most people to teach responsibility to kids.
@@nola281 I'm talking specifically about the idea that the sole purpose of man is to work. I believe that's harmful to the individual and beneficial to political/religious leaders.
I’m trans, when I was younger I used to overload myself with schoolwork as a way of blocking out the dysphoria so there is a certain truth in that. The more I learn, the more I realize that a lot of churches exist to provide temporary symptom relief to people with real problems. The emotional roller coaster these people go on during a sermon can cause a form of catharsis, which can ease cognitive dissonance, shame, and other mental health issues. Unfortunately since it doesn’t help figure out the real cause it will never fix the actual problem so the person has to go back each Sunday to get another reset.
That's kinda been the role of religion/spiritually since it's conception, way long ago shamans would administer psychoactive medicines like Psylocibin or Mescaline as a way for someone to filter through their truama or addiction. Peyote was especially valuable to the Native Americans to heal from the truama of their populations being nearly wiped out and still has its place in the Native American Church to this day. You can also find small pockets across Latin and South America that still hold onto these traditions from the Aztecs, though they're often recontextualized under Catholicism.
I queer person from a conservative Mormon family. I have watched some of my closest family members become more and more indoctrinated by right-wing media. It's been incredibly heart breaking to watch. They are filled with so much anger and fear, completely blinded to their cognitive biases. Hearing the two of you deconstruct these bigoted takes has been really helpful. You offer perspectives that I hadn't thought of before and explain things in a really comprehensive way. I will be able to apply what I've learned to my conversations with conservative family and friends. I appreciate it! 💓🌈💮
I felt that when Taylor said about how she's learned to let herself feel certain emotions in therapy because she was taught to not feel some things in evangelical christianity. I had to relearn how to be angry and giving myself permission to be angry about the trauma I've been through because of my upbringing in evangelical christianity
I feel you so hard. Im 49 & didnt even REALISE I was ALLOWED to feel the emotion of "anger" until this past spring. It wasn't JUST religion (though "thought‐crim‐ing" ideas primed me to fall into the religion 'trauma trap"), but ALSO having a toxic family who felt *& FEELS this MOMENT* that telling me how to feel (about ALL my OWN experiences) was & IS absolutely reasonable. I really hate how shocked I was when my friend "permitted" me to feel anger at my indoctrinators, abusers, AND my family. I met my first trans person back around 1972 or 1973. I was at uni and had a job as a security guard at a large insurance company office near my campus. There was a secretary for one of the execs who always came in early and she would stop and talk to me before heading off to start her day. After several months she explained to me how she was a trans-woman. I had known drag queens but frankly, my little naive 19-year-old self had never heard or conceived and notion of people like her. Even after I graduated and moved off to start a life, we stayed in contact. She died from a heart issue during the epidemic. But she had worked at and retired from that company at age 65. I do not know how many people there knew her secret but the real thing about her was what a truly wonderful human being she was. Unlike a certain pastor.
I'm sure it's already been said but about that last clip: many disabled people cannot work! That doesn't make them any less of a person! It enrages me that this kind of rhetoric is still actively being spread because when your entire value as a person is tied to whether you can work (and how much you can work), all it leads to is abuse and death.
I remember about 25 years ago a black acquaintance said, after we had talked for a while, I was "woke". After he explained what that means I wear that memory as a badge of honor!
Yep, basically we're going to take this book, interpret it how we want and then claim it's the objective word of a god. The rest of it is basically a little common sense mixed with a little irrationality. What caught my ear though was "A man `takes` a wife. Daughters are `given` into marriage." The clip cuts off, but the implication of that is disturbing.
What's baffling is that the bible says "a man shall leave his mother and father and be joined with his wife". The insinuations Driscoll makes are purely his own. Also in marriage vows you have the old "do you take this woman to be your lawfully wedded wife" but you also have the transverse of that where the woman takes the man as well. The daughters given into marriage thing is the outdated notion of needing the father's permission and how some fathers traditionally walk their daughter down the aisle and hand her over to her groom. It's still disturbing and kind of inaccurate, since biblically the father should be walking the son down the aisle but (from a traditional perspective) it is written into the contract of marriage.
@@nightshade7240 Your interpretation is fine. I'm not even sure what his interpretation is specifically. The clip cuts off, but the way he emphasized "taking a wife and giving daughters away," was just a tad ominous.
This is actually something I dislike about my language, even though I admire most aspects of it. In Hungarian, we literally say that a man 'takes' his wife (feleségül vesz). It's not even archaic like it is in English, it's a standard way to describe (a man) getting married. Despite not having grammatical gender or any gendered pronouns, Hungarian still has a lot of sexist phrases, especially in regards to marriage.
@@mate95mraz To be fair, I realize it's a figure of speech at this point for most people anyway. I think it was more in the way he said it. To `him` it seemed literal.

I've heard it said by decent people speaking extremely literally, but they were stressing that the attraction is involuntary. They weren't saying that acting on it is moral, just that we shouldn't harass people who try to go to therapy for that. That's really the only exception I've ever heard.
Child attraction is not a choice and in that sense it is okay to have child attraction as long as you don't act on it and as long as you distance yourself and seek therapy for it. Sometimes we are attracted to things that are not our choice and it is the choice of whether we act on them that makes it not okay. We should not vilify people for being subject to things they can't control, or we are no better than the hatemongers like Driscoll. Alienating people just makes them feel like they have no recourse. What Driscoll is talking about is the "cloversexual" psyop that came out of 4chan which claimed that the LGBT+ community would incorporate child attracted people into the community as an accepted sexuality. Which is a blatant falsehood. However it feeds into his biased rhetoric about how evil we are (even though demonstratively the church and specifically xtianity has had more cases of child attraction than just about any other community.)
I have heard this rhetoric and I understand why it can be confusing. From what I gather, they're not condoning child molestation though, rather they are accepting the fact that someone may have those desires, that doesn't mean they believe those desires are right or that those who are attracted to minors should act on that. They should be helped rather than shamed for their thoughts.
No way. The idea that pedo is just a control it and you're not really bad person. No, just no. That is a terrible thing to say to survivors of assault at a young age. The reasons all of you are giving is why people don't come forward to report it. They believe no one will listen or believe them. In the Bible Paul speaks of the roman tradition of keeping young boys for illicit purposes. He calls it evil and deplorable. The verses in the new testament some say are about homosexuality are actually about this young boy practice. Again, this form of attraction is not right nor acceptable. There is a reason in prisons the child criminals have to be kept separated from other prisoners. Even convicts know how evil this is.

The way Driscoll talked about the "safe, legal, and rare" thing is so interesting, because among advocates for abortion and repro freedom that phrase is recognized as a conservative, stigmatizing way to discuss the issue. Hillary Clinton absolutely meant it when she said abortion should be rare. The Clintons (and Joe Biden!) have always been fairly conservative on this issue, and, like a lot of establishment Democrats, they adopted the right's framing (that abortion is terrible and tragic for all involved, and should be avoided whenever possible) very early on. The problem, of course, is that abortion has always been quite common, so reducing the number of abortions was always a regressive goal. Driscoll thinks "safe, legal, and rare" was a trojan horse to usher in unfettered abortion access, when the reality is quite the opposite: accepting the framing that abortion ought to be "rare" enabled restrictions on abortion access.

My best guess about his "men are designed to work before the fall", is that Adam's task of naming the animals was work. And does he genuinely think that Medieval Catholics before the Reformation didn't have to use their children's labour to survive - or "chores" in his parlance? Medieval children had all kinds of jobs they had to do to help their family's collective survival - gathering fuel, fetching water, splitting wood, helping with the harvest, tending animals, spinning wool, grinding grain into flour. Children did all these tasks before Luther nailed his 95 theses to the cathedral door.
“Gay marriage, then polygamy is next.” He could very well have made a dishonest argument without taking it the extra step of using something that few people believe is the next step on the slippery slope, or that anyone is asking.
Perhaps he isn't homophobic and actually afraid of mormons lmao. He just thinks gays bans are the one thing standing between them and the mormon polygamy
@charlleedodson3956 My only issue is polygamy is that it carries a lot of negative cultural baggage. Historically it has been used by powerful and/or abusive men to control as many women as possible. As such I think it's relatively easier to build negative narratives about how it should work Like I think not allowing your spouses to talk to each other is messed up. It's better when the extended family acts like family. It doesn't have to be polyamory but everyone involved should get along for it to work
Polygamy is also massively featured throughout the Bible, maybe even more so than one partner marriages. If David could be a man after gods own heart and have wives and concubines then why can’t people be polygamous today and still be Christian’s? Very confusing…
When I was a kid and I'd say to my mom that I had a headache she would offer to step on my foot to distract me from it. It was a joke of course. It feels like Taylor is doing this to Drew here - oh, you don't feel well? Well here's an absolutely awful monster of a person! Bam! Now you probably don't even remember what felt wrong!
Thank you for this video. I love listening to you two and watching both of your journeys. I grew up similar to your husband and left the church about 15 years ago…it’s such a process!
Side note: I love the respect you two have for each other in your discussions. It's something many of those evangelical couples try to copy but you can see the deep disrespect those couples have towards each other. Loving the discussions and analysation of these pastors and speakers as always ✌🏻
> Where do you draw the line? I mean, obviously, you draw the line at consent! An animal cannot consent to a human. A child cannot consent to an adult. It's true. It's not a cop-out.
The problem is the concept of consent itself is in opposition to the bible, especially when it comes to women in sexual relationships. Women are deemed as the property of men who can be traded with other men. Her consent isn't required. And even in marriage consent to sex is not a consideration, hence the bible males it clear a person's body belongs to their spouse, not themsleves.
My ex lived in the mentality of "a woman will be given to a man", and dudes, that was a big driving force for me leaving. By saying I was god's puppet (in nicer terms), it was removing any autonomy I had, making me an object that was made for him, and thus nothing I had concerns about for us, for him, and any of my interests, unless they aligned with his, were ever listened to by him. I wasn't my own person, just a situation passed to him by god, and that was...disheartening, to say the least. Someone could argue that it meant I was a gift from the divine, that I was the most precious thing he'd ever get, but then that's putting me on a pedestal that is too high for even my abilities to reach. Which that did happen. He would basically say I was god's gift to him, which meant a treasure, but he'd then treat me as an object. This is not the way to go about relationships with anyone. Everyone has their own lives, their own dreams, hopes, failures, aches, pains, loves, ideas, goals, and so much more. No one living thing is strictly just living (besides bugs), they're alive, with fulfilled lives of their own, and treating them any differently, especially people, will get them to leave once the true light shines their path through (hint hint, it's knowledge).
That sounds like my father. He keeps saying that he's praying that God will "give" me a wife. I honestly don't think he knows how creepy and gross that is, but I don't even want to talk to him anymore given his apparent inability to recognize the autonomy of (slightly more than) half of humanity.
@@martinmckee5333 I hope he can either gain some insight and realize what he's saying, and thus apologize, or that you can get away from that situation if you haven't already. Good luck, and may you find someone understanding if that's what you're going for!
Some of these pastors are so ignorant to me. I’m not Christian anymore - but I went to a Christian university that taught us ways to interpret the Bible for modern day. Why people think it’s appropriate to take the Bible literally and make it everyone else’s problem is beyond me!
"Now others may not believe that. But that's who we are and that's what we believe." I mean when the others say it they are evil, but when he says it, its righteous

I really find it interesting that he tells people to “Follow the yellow brick road” when in the book “The Wizard of Oz” it’s an analogy for the broad smooth path to hell.
The Bible is not a stone inscription that never changes. The fact that we're reading an English translation of many translations of many interpretations from many denominations...like huh? There are also bibles with missing books too.

Drew's comments around the 16 minute mark are so on point. It is much harder to admit your weaknesses and share your pain than to swallow them and hide your real self. They don't even see women as hole humans worthy of their own motivations and ends.
I do hope one day Driscoll gets exposed where he cannot escape anymore and his Trinity 'Church' has to shut down. So much shady stuff going on, not to mention everything he left behind in Seattle running away from that disaster he caused.
My grandpa is very conservative and very authoritarian and when I told him I was trying to get on disability because of my autism he asked me what was I going to do to be a good person (aka contribute to society) and he basically implied that either I was just being lazy or that I wasn’t worth anything if I wasn’t being productive.
I guess Mark has never worked in food service, 100% when I was working food service while in college I was depressed at work ALL THE TIME. And when I had a toxic boss, I was depressed EVERY. SINGLE. DAY.
I have a real appreciation for @MarkDriscollMinistries. I listened to him every Sunday, I even went to visit his church a few states away. I appreciate him for making me an atheist. Surprisingly its because he's not original at all. He just lazily regurgitates what he hears. He's truly a pathetic man, just a sycophantic ed-hardy manosphere bro. If he had one original thought I might be a believer today. I still enjoy the sound of his voice because it shows me how much I've grown. I hear the things that I used to believe from his mouth and I think, "wow some men have not grown up." I'm thankful so much for how much I went through and how much I've had the opportunity to grow. Thanks Mark.
As a person who has severe disabilities… i was depressed AT work because I had to battle my mental health while shoving through the work week. The reason why I “sit home and collect checks” is because if I don’t… I’d probably be 6 feet under right now. I have a right to exist in this country, and regardless of his opinion, this is AMERICA… like… ooh.
That behavior he portrays of having “righteous” anger, yet telling other people they are “overly emotional,” that’s gaslighting. My mom did that to me. If I got sad or angry, especially about something she did, it was seen as disrespectful or “painting her the bad guy.” But when she got angry and screamed or threw a Bible across the room or threatened to kill her husband, that was apparently okay. This behavior is damaging.
Not two minutes in and I already was fighting the urge to facepalm at Mark's comment about because we've allowed gay marriage we're going to end up allowing children to get married to adults. First off consent is always going to be the major factor and Second is just because progressive people what people to have rights about their own body and for adults to date & marry other adults doesn't mean we encourage Maps who btw did attempt to align themselves with the LGBTQ+ community & they were turned down not just because a child cannot consent sexual acts but also because of the power that an adult would have over the child. Thirdly As long as there is communication and consent then I don't see anything wrong with polygamy between adults. Lastly I find it kind of funny but sad how he says that if the pastor is progressive is going backwards not forwards even though going backwards is exactly what Mark is doing by wanting to take away people's rights that they have been fighting to have for years
Regarding polygamy: Communication, consent, AND resources. - Financial resources, time and space to give any and all the children as much attention as they need. Accidents tend to be more common in giant families with high child-to-adult ratios. Neglected children are my biggest concern in polygamous families with no family planning.
I think legally there are a lot of issues with polygamy. I don't think it will ever actually be legalized by the government. Polyamory (or being in a 'throuple') I don't see anything inherently wrong with. If people want to do their own marriage ceremony that spiritually marries them, that's fine. But imagine just the repercussions and difficulties of immigration and visas alone if you can marry multiple people. Then we have joint bank accounts, loans, and all kinds of stuff that could potentially get abused with potentially infinite marriage certificates going around.
@@pechaa Absolutely. I would say that resources is also something needed in all families but yeah especially big ones. Sadly Mark and people with his mindset only want marriage between a man and a woman and want to see all other types of marriages between consenting adults as evil and wrong just because they don't like it even though they are perfectly able to have a marriage how they want if they want to get married. They just want everyone to be like them & shame or in some cases cause harm to people who aren't like them
The slippery slope marriage argument is so goofy. I could also say that all marriage should be illegal because once you let some people choose to marry, eventually everyone and everything will be able to get married. If they say that the line should be drawn at “one man, one woman” than they’ve conceded that a line CAN be drawn somewhere.
Hearing someone say "You can't be depressed if you're at work" is like a flashbang of a sentence and to me exposes Mark Driscoll as someone who's never actually worked a day in his life, which is typical of hate preaching pastors.

Ugh, I couldn't even get past the first clip. 1:02 "All you're getting is a portion of who they truly are and what they truly believe." Yeah, apply this statement to Driscoll himself, and imagine how much he's not showing us. As for the p*do comment, first of all, remind me again, in which institution do we actually keep finding such people? And second of all, it's the conservative Christians who are trying to lower the legal age for marriage in some states.
Regarding the first clip? Aside from leaders being fearful of losing an audience that adheres to a very specific power structure? They don’t see anyone in the queer community as being truly capable of a loving partnership leading to marriage. They see it as sexual deviance masquerading as “marriage” because they “demand” to be recognized the same way as good, loving straight couples. So what sexual deviance is next?
True. It’s because they’re projecting the way their own mind works onto others. They cannot fathom that other people are capable of actually love and not just dogma for social acceptance or a mansion in the afterlife.
It really says a lot about how christianity can be toxic when abusive, horrible people are able to simply move (or be moved) to another congregation (or parish) and essentially dodge the consequences of their actions, particularly in light of how they tout being judged and held to account and all that.
people like mark frustrate me and scare me to such a deep degree, and videos like this tend to give me a lot of anxiety, so i appreciate the way you both calmly and intellectually respond to the hate and narcissism and fear-mongering. your presence is a good balance for the madness 😅
Why do they always go for the most heinous ending, focusing on sex? They use the most shocking scenarios to breed contemp and fear into their followers. I thought Christians were to focus on the things that are "pure "? I can't imagine putting this much thought and hate into my dogma.
Why sex? Because the USA (where most of these pastors are) is extremely puritanical when it comes to sex. It's the thing that is generally uncomfortable even to the more progressive of theists and even to non-believers. It is the most effective avenue for emotional manipulation.
How long did $3,000 last when we all including Mark received in stimulus? Guys who are receiving unemployment paid into the fund when they were working. Being a 'pastor', Mark doesn't pay that much in taxes. He just knows how to grift.
That was disturbing. I have bipolar so you can definitely be depressed at work. I'm also now on social security disability and I'm considered unable to work. Fr some jobs core issue is that it makes their workers depressed. Having jobs where you have to find bodies in disasters, taking care CSA victims, watching elderly mentally decay from dementia etc. You are allowed to have emotions and that's what they don't want you have, any body anatomy
Of course he hasn't had a real job, he's a pastor grifter lol
I was too depressed while working. I was just crying while working. I could pass it off as being sick for a while but after a month or two my boss said I'm a good worker but I'm just too depressing.
Awww sorry to hear@@AndroidHarris
It's so capitalist (as evangelicalism and the prosperity gospel is).
"You're depressed? That's not good! Just stop it so you can keep producing for me!"
Driscoll, of course, wants his tithes and offerings. Tithing culture is not biblical but I've never been to a church that pointed that out (no matter whether they were being "literal" or "context specific"/ "culturally accurate" and "convey the spirit of the law/word" - the excuse used to get out of the "literal" argument). I wonder why. 🙄
They like to ignore the consent issue. A child cannot consent. A horse cannot consent. A woman under duress cannot consent.
The idea of consent takes away control from the most powerful. That's why they don't like it.
Omg wow! That’s wild! This man’s been on the grift for so long.

Omg, "You can't be depressed and go to work." My good sir, I do it on the regular.
Me too. Unemployment would be like 95% if you can't be depressed going to or being at a job. Haaa
Yeah, like what have I been doing for years then
Going to work IS my depression
Lol, yeah. I don't hate my job, but most days as I'm driving to work I think of all the other, more meaningful things I could be doing instead of it. And then I get depressed 🤣
Geez, not even two minutes in and he's already ignoring child brides and harems in the bible?
Not just the Bible, the Bible Belt! Red states are actively trying to normalize child marriage (but only when the child is female, of course).
Also the fact that Christian republicans vote against banning child marriage!!!
Not only that, in states like Tennessee they are actively trying to lower the age of consent for women so that you could marry a 12 to 16-year-old. These laws are pushed by conservative Christians.
What's the bible got to do with that form of evangelicalism?
He's all for child brides. Its his type that made sure a federal ban on child marriage was prevented
That is very incitefull.

I just came here to say that I’m trans and I have a job and my job is actually very supportive!
That’s great!!

@@chadromney obviously. Capital exploits always.
You never read John Calvin in school?
I went through something similar, but gender swapped. I was allowed to feel anger, that's a manly emotion.

I have never heard of anyone who is a decent human say child attraction is okay. The people who say that are not good people.
@@nightshade7240wow well said!! 👏

Drew used to be a fundamentalist Christian, so he knows.
And if polygamy was the next step, who cares? As long as everyone involved is ok with it and an adult, it’s nobody else’s business
@charlleedodson3956 As a polyamorous person, I agree.
Perhaps he isn't homophobic and actually afraid of mormons lmao. He just thinks gays bans are the one thing standing between them and the mormon polygamy
@charlleedodson3956
My only issue is polygamy is that it carries a lot of negative cultural baggage. Historically it has been used by powerful and/or abusive men to control as many women as possible. As such I think it's relatively easier to build negative narratives about how it should work
Like I think not allowing your spouses to talk to each other is messed up.

Love how Driscoll omits the fact that his own profession is the most likely to harbor "MAP"s. Projection at its finest.
“You need to work” says the preacher… zero irony detected😂

You were only one word away: "marky is a shit." So you see you were not as far off as you'd think.
I'm only part-way through the first clip, and already the level of projection is _insane_ . I literally had to pause and give myself a second.
You can't be depressed at work??? Egads.
I appreciate what you guys do. Wishing you both good health and happiness from Seattle.
Hearing someone say "You can't be depressed if you're at work" is like a flashbang of a sentence and to me exposes Mark Driscoll as someone who's never actually worked a day in his life, which is typical of hate preaching pastors.
I have shut down the woke thing being denigrated when i force folks to define woke. And when they say it all out loud, it just makes them look like terrible people. Which they are.
neuroscientist here: literally emotion is felt in lower cortical areas where you have less conscious control but once that signal reaches your frontal cortex and thus your consciousness, then you can apply reason and judgement. some people only act through emotions while others have learned to suppress their emotions soo much.
Hey Taylor, I love these videos you make with Drew, and I can see you enjoy making them too. I just want you to know that a lot of your audience would be definitely still be here for your solo videos. A lot of the time watching your videos the past year or two feels like watching a GMS second channel, which is definitely great and you are definitely the one leading and directing the convo, but I don't want you to feel like you have to have Drew on for us to love your content. If you just enjoy it more though, then by all means :)
Thank you for this kindly worded comment! I so appreciate that if I went back to making solo vids that you would love them just as much! I do really love making vids together, and it’s also allowed me to speed up my production time by doing unscripted videos with Drew (in the future I may do some on my own, but at this point both Drew and I have difficulty filming unscripted without the other one to play off of). And actually, my next video is going to be solo ☺️
Brand new to the channel.
I dunno what most of this means, but this is clearly an extremely supportive community.
I’m glad i found it.
@@forrestpatterson6053 Welcome! Taylor, who runs the channel, is married to Drew. They married when they were both evangelical Christians. Drew left the faith, and started the channel Genetically Modified Skeptic (GMS) before being out to his partner and family. He eventually came out to Taylor, and later his family. Their relationship stayed strong, and she also left the faith after investigating the issue on her own terms. She later started this channel, which is obviously a bit smaller than Drew's, where she began making a lot of videos with a focus on multilevel marketing scams and other cults, and more recently has made a lot of reaction videos with Drew about evangelical culture and influencers, making fewer solo videos, though it sounds like this is something Taylor is happy to do, and has some more solo vids coming up.
The Genius Curse is so unfairly weighed. Painful childbirth that could legit kill you is a lot worse than having to farm the ground.
“Can't be depressed at work.” words spoken by a guy who has likely never worked a day in customer service.
He's "not political" but he's literally said in a sermon "if you vote Democrat you can get out, you demon, I don't want you here!"
This is so perfectly stated ❤
You guys are lovely; thanks for putting out some real pearls ❤
people like mark frustrate me and scare me to such a deep degree, and videos like this tend to give me a lot of anxiety, so i appreciate the way you both calmly and intellectually respond to the hate and narcissism and fear-mongering. your presence is a good balance for the madness 😅
Hope you're feeling better soon Drew. Great video guys.
Woke means anyone left of hunting the homeless for sport
Let's just say half of Psalms would not exist if TEENAGE DAVID didn't have meltdowns.
"You cant be depressed if youre at work" thats fucjing news to me😂😂😂😂
Woke means "to the left of them?" The heck with that, they mean anybody to the left of Ghengis Khan.
"He sees Jesus as driving a lifted truck" LOL
"And they came for the LGBT folks, and I spoke up for them, because I've read the rest of the poem"
Y'all should do a video on Mormons! Former Mormon here (my name is from the Book of Mormon). There's a lot of cringy and interesting stuff there!
ooof corianton's a rough one, my condolences
But yes! I'd love to see what they think about it too, there's so much to dig into
I like to watch Mormon Stories Podcast.
you poor, poor soul. at least cory is a standard cool name for a guy, so you could shorten it easily.
According to Mark Driscoll I'm no longer a man. Having bi-polar you have to be very self-aware and that's something Mark lacks, or doesn't care about, because the power of his grift is too important to him.
"Men are like trucks. When it rains, you're gay 🤷♂️" --Mork
Nice breakdown. I find videos like these clarifying and helpful.
28:04 Jordan Peterson called. He wants his old rhetoric back.
