The Shadow Priest also buffs the damage of your minions for a short time, it's not just a heal. So you should use it frequently even if the heal is not needed.
As a brand-new diablo player who really wanted to play necro bc of thematic connection to the whole slaying demons story, I am SO glad you have dedicated a build to truly living the necromancer fantasy. Thank you again fextra for all of y'all's hard work that lets people like me enjoy the game without being frustrated by the breadth of knowledge!
I don't even play Necro. I just come here to put your video on repeat and listen to your monotone voice as a background noise to put me to sleep. It really worked.
There is a unique pair of gloves that changed my life as a necro that I would recommend for any build using corpse explosion. Howl From Below, what they do is instead of exploding the corpse, it spawns a skeleton that charges at an enemy then explodes with up to 40% increased explosion damage (30-40% roll). They also have a built in corpse skill attack speed and stun chance which is nice. And because of the wording "Corpse Explosion's damage is increased" it should still work with blighted CE as well. I wasn't too sure about them when they dropped, but after trying I realized what a massive upgrade it is.
@@rgbug1121 Only on that specific pair of gloves, they are unique so they will always have the same attributes. The "aspect" on unique's can't be extracted or imprinted.
I am playing a similar build since the changes, but I went all in on the Darkness skills- Decompose for basic and Blight for core, focusing on minion survivability, crowd control, and damage over time. My only issue with the build is the spell effects for the shadow puddles on Corpse Explosion and Blight. I cannot see anything! I really hope Blizzard reworks the spell effect for shadow puddles, because it's kind of ridiculous, and has definitely gotten me killed more than once so far. I really want to like shadow builds, because they are my favorite so far, but I might have to respec out of it unless they change that muddy mess into something more manageable.
This is such an awesome build. When maxed out, your minions are constantly pumping out new corpses so you never run out. I just spam the hell out of shadow corpse explosion, and when combined with the various buffs, it just melts mobs in seconds with zero resource costs. Even bosses and elites go down without much trouble It's amazing and a ton of fun. I even came across a legendary that boosts attack power by 40% when decrepify and iron maiden are used together. That, along with the shadow priest buff, basically makes me unstoppable in the end game.
Tbh I have no clue how to exactly follow within making this build. Since he talks about many legendary aspects, I don't know which ones to really equip on my character, or what kind of Jewlery I should use.

Thanks for this. My favorite part of necro is all the minions and most of the builds I see forgo them, understandably so. As a casual Diablo player this is very nice so I can enjoy some content above World Class I.
Thanks for this build. Out of all the builds I've used this one has been the most simple to play. No stressing over health or essence regen, just move smart, throw curses, blow shit up, and and bone storm things to death
Our builds were so close. I was coming to a lot of the same conclusions you were over the course of my playthrough, there are a few things that you did that were way more optimized then what I was doing in my set up. Ditching basic and core skills kinda felt like the next thing to do, but I wasn't confident enough to move on it. I did find myself using most of my dmg with my Corps explosion and minions, but to be done with it and what skills to then utilize in there stead, is exactly what you brought to the build for me. Along with some great synergy with aspects. Thanks for this upload, my Necromancer feels SO much more organic and properly streamlined and VERY CAPABLE now. Great Upload.. New Sub here!
I'm playing this build and yes, It's good. I'm almost finish all the campaigns now. The funny thing is this build almost don't need or use essence at all.
I'm having a hard time with bosses that don't spawn any monsters (adds). My skeletons eventually die and there's no corpses nearby. Any tips? thanks and otherwise good build
I'd say it's questionable if you need to focus on the skeleton survivability as much or even if at all when you have Death's Defense 3/3 - Because it rarely happens that one skeleton will take 4 consecutive big hits before being healed by Bonded In Essence back to full. I don't think so, maybe you can focus more on offensive bonuses instead of bonus health and damage reduction for your skellies (i might be wrong tho but cold logic tells me otherwise)
I found that keeping blight, focusing on stun, and using only 1 curse (decrepify) gave me much better results. without a spender it really feels unable to do damage when/where you really need it. I don't have the embalmers aspect so keeping minions alive is a bit harder but still doable, so I've taken the ultimate that summons then back instead of the bone one.
I've been using the levelling version of this build and it feels great but wow they need to fix the corpse explosion visual. After two explosions you can't see enemies at all! Why isn't it translucent or on the ground below enemies.
Yo flex I played the blight Lord build!!! I love it!!! But I do have one question for you.... I just hit level 50 and I don't know anything about Paragon tree could you do a blight Lord or black Commander Paragon video please and thank you
I'm about level 56 with this build, what paragon boards would be best after the first one? You were about level 54 in this video, how far did you get before you had to respect to another build because of survivability issues?
Death's Defense basically means their HP doesn't matter at all. If they have 100 hp or 1,000 hp it can still take 3-4 hits to kill them and if you're using the priests like you should be they're healed to full every pulse. This is just like the old D3 Shield Sorcerer builds. While this build looks great for trash where you can generate corpses and pools stacking shadow damage, how does it do on bosses where all those pools / corpses are going to be negligible?
First Gotta say I was never a Diablo fan but I gave this one a try and I love it. A huge part is having your character builds and tips has helped a lot. Keep up the videos 👍🏼
Would it not be better to max out golum mastery, instead of going into transfusion. Appreciate you will lose some minion healing, but with 70% healing from Bonded in Essence, is the DPS not a worthy trade off?
Amazin Build idea, Heres a few thoughts: If (Aspect of Explosive Mist) triggers the Corpse Explosion Branch based on your talents wouldn't it add Infinite Survivability and allow you to Pop Corpse' At a Speed Astronomically faster than anyone can spam? the downside is you would have to sacrifice an aspect at first glance perhaps the 7+ minion defensive talent as the increased orbs should keep them alive
have 58 points of the skill tree and only see 55 in this guide ? 3 points where? plz. I would love to see more of this guide, things are missing such as the evolution of points in the paragon, improvements to the skeletons and golems and little things, if it could be I would like it to be updated thank you very much and like.
Is 3 points in Grim Harvest really necessary when our only skill that uses Essence is Decrepify? From my experience, you don't really spam it enough to warrant so much Essence generation. Am I missing something?
I just realized how appropriate this build is for my Necromancer. His name? Nito. Title? Grave Lord. Now a miasma of death and disease will herald his presence.
So I wonder why you max out grim harvest when this build doesn't really use any essence (just for 1 curse). It could be kept at 1 I think. There's also a legendary that increases skill damage by X% based on your primary resource amount, which could be useful.
Aspect of Decay, Aspect of the Damned, Blighted Aspect, and Fast Blood Aspect. Which is the least useful? I'm going to use the unique gloves "Howl from Below". Leaning towards removing Fast Blood Aspect, but I'm kinda hesitant because it might significantly cut my Ultimate Skill uptime. Need advice. Just a note, all this aspect takes the slot of Weapon, Glove, Amulet, and Rings. Need to move the Aspect of Ultimate Shadow that was originally in the Gloves to make way for the Howl from Below.
Wonder how this compares to Kripp's summoner build. The whole perma chilling/freezing part of that build seems pretty darn good, but I think this build might do higher damage.
Kripp was more cc. I have his build and its decent. I run blizzard on my mages and have plus 2 to them. Roughly 11 12 minions total. I would say from 50 to 75 either build is solid. End game who knows as the enemy has a tonne of resistance. End game continue damage is really weak as minions heal so both fall somewhat. Things that can cause burst like rogue, druid, sorc are good end game
It should be rare to be in that situation if you are following this build closely, and making sure to have plenty of + minion life, and the trick is to get your ultimate back up quickly with high roll on the Fastblood aspect. Work on +run speed and more evade charges and move around collecting orbs while your ultimate is going. Back to corpse explosion when it ends. If you get in a jam just try to evade until your ultimate pops again. I rarely die with this build. Keep a close eye on minion health and hit up the priest fairly often since it also helps with dmg, not just healing.
I have a similar build but I do rely on "Army of the Dead", everything else is pretty identical. I still can´t keep my boys alive, especially in situations with Elites that have any kind of telegraphed AoE attacks. Those attacks deal massive damage and you are supposed to dash out of them, the problem is, Blizzard is still not able to create a pet AI that avoids this damage, so they usually all die. In WoW they fixed this problem by changing pets to only receive 5% of this kind of damage, but they didn´t do that here as well. Sometimes that ruins a whole nightmare run when you encounter a room with 3 or 4 elites that all use telegraphed AoE. I hope Blizz will address this problem, else the minion build isn´t really viable for the endgame. Can´t really say though as I´m only 64 at the moment, maybe when maxed out in Paragon the boys become sturdy enough to even survive this damage, I doubt it though if they would survive several telegraphed AoE attacks, "normal" Bosses and Elites wouldn´t be able to harm them in any way.
@@pjw4125 Doesn´t matter, either you have ticking AoE like the poison lakes or a series of telegraphed AoE, and after 4 hits, which takes less than 2 seconds they are dead. I do have Death´s Defense on 3/3, they still die.
@@KuzkinAndrey no and I’m not liking it. Once your minions die you are screwed against a boss with no small enemies to make corpse. Thinking about respec lol
@@KuzkinAndrey Actually yes, at least so far, I´m Level 74 now and able to run Torment keys in the 30s, so mob level around 84, I took the cult leader board with all its nodes for your minions and they are a lot sturdier now. They still die from excessive AoE Elites, but with the unyielding commander aspect on the amulet I can just pop Army at this moment and my minions get over 100% damage reduction. This gives me usually enough time to kill the whole room without losing a single minion.
So I am lost on your gameplay....are you using a core skill or a basic skill? I see that start of the video with Iron maiden and Decreptify, then it changes to Decreptify and blight.....Is there a good one to slot? can you use Reap?
Theres a unique pair of gloves that makes corpse explosion home on enemies, and a scythe that consumes 4 corpses instead of 1 doing up to 240% bonus dmg on a two hand, with both of those corpse explosions MELTS
How are you generating blood orbs? From your action bar, you don't appear to be using Blight but have spec'd into it and, sometimes, in your video you show it being active while other times you do not. What's up wit dat? :)
How do you guys break down walls and barricades? Not running core or basic skills is a peoblem for this. Like sometimes have to destroy pillars or whatever and waiting for bone storm is annoying. Switching skills is also taking a while.
Been messing around while leveling up with a few builds and I'm about to hit 49 but this one seems to be the most fun so far. Haven't messed with a blight build so although this makes it real fucking hard to see a lot of stuff it does seem to work on world tier one. I'll continue to use it while I finish leveling and see how I like it as I progress.
Is this build the blightlord build on the website? If so, there are some discrepancies between the video and the written guide as in the video you mention to use wands and don't use blight, whereas in the written guide they suggest two handed swords and do use the blight skill.
He mentioned he's not using the blight skill because they change a passive so you don't get as much essence for consuming a corpse, also the pets make a corpse due to another passive so you can start corpse explosion straight away. The idea is to use curses instead to buff your damage then go straight into corpse explosion.
This build seems like a great solo build. Minions have the best survivability of what I have tried, they do quite a bit of damage. The only annoying thing i have found is that objects in the open or in dungeons that you have to destroy for loot or in your way you dont have a personal ability that can destroy it and have to use the golem ability to take it out which has a 10 second cool down if there are multiple objects. Other than that has been solid, a little slow of gameplay unless you are surrounded by enemies but dungeons are super easy (not doing heroic yet).
What I want to know is if these builds are gonna be level 100 viable based on my plythrough the caps from the previous nerf may invalidate at triple level
I really like this build. Do you think 3/3 Grim Harvest is really necessary when you aren't really spending essence due to lack of core skills? The only thing costing essence are curses, and not even Iron Maiden since Enhanced Iron Maiden makes it free to cast. I'm thinking 1/3 Grim Harvest is enough if you aren't using Blight, and I think even that's generous. Awesome guide!

I will say this, first jumping into WT3 you will need to run a build like this is you run ANY minion build. There are a ton of elites out there and your minions are useless unless you buff them.
I play a variant of this with focus on Thornes, but on World II, could you test if this is in III viabale ? I use Decompose and Blight, Miasma and all the Thornes i can get, with Iron Maiden and all effekts that strenghten Skeletton thornes and Blood Golem Thornes ... Its not mut burst damage but the AOE almost melts everything down. Defense Skeletons with Thorns in them. Care to test?
Your video makes no sense with how you explain skills, at one part you have blight, at the other part you have bone storm. And in the end of video you have no blight at all in your build so a bit unclear what is best to use?

My favorite is the blood build. Reap to make a corpse. Use corpse tendrils, then blood wave then corpse explosion or blood surge.

Same, I got them with pretty much max rolls from a helltide event and it definitely changed my life. Love those gloves

Great build been rocking it before the buffs. But the corpse explosion visuals need to be adjusted. Have to use the highlights to see my character
It really does suck especially in Nightmare Dungeons where you can't see the effects of the dungeon affix...
The skeletal priest is not just a heal, it buffs their damage. You should be using it all the time....

Not having an attack on m1 & m2 how do you kill towers/walls/obstacles? I can't even get my minions to attack terrain objects like that.

Yea I'm curious, I played blood surge from 20-53 ATM and it's great vs trash, and fast, but very up and down for boss fights.

Is 3 points in Grim Harvest really necessary when our only skill that uses Essence is Decrepify? From my experience, you don't really spam it enough to warrant so much Essence generation. Am I missing something?

So I wonder why you max out grim harvest when this build doesn't really use any essence (just for 1 curse). It could be kept at 1 I think.
There's also a legendary that increases skill damage by X% based on your primary resource amount, which could be useful.
Aspect of Decay, Aspect of the Damned, Blighted Aspect, and Fast Blood Aspect.
Which is the least useful? I'm going to use the unique gloves "Howl from Below".
Leaning towards removing Fast Blood Aspect, but I'm kinda hesitant because it might significantly cut my Ultimate Skill uptime.
Need advice. Just a note, all this aspect takes the slot of Weapon, Glove, Amulet, and Rings.
Need to move the Aspect of Ultimate Shadow that was originally in the Gloves to make way for the Howl from Below.

Wonder how this compares to Kripp's summoner build. The whole perma chilling/freezing part of that build seems pretty darn good, but I think this build might do higher damage.
Kripp was more cc. I have his build and its decent. I run blizzard on my mages and have plus 2 to them. Roughly 11 12 minions total. I would say from 50 to 75 either build is solid. End game who knows as the enemy has a tonne of resistance. End game continue damage is really weak as minions heal so both fall somewhat. Things that can cause burst like rogue, druid, sorc are good end game
I do like the bone spear in Kripps build though

Hello Fex nice work. When my minions die and l have no corpse left l couldnt kill anyone and cant create minions cause there is no corpse left 🙂
It should be rare to be in that situation if you are following this build closely, and making sure to have plenty of + minion life, and the trick is to get your ultimate back up quickly with high roll on the Fastblood aspect. Work on +run speed and more evade charges and move around collecting orbs while your ultimate is going. Back to corpse explosion when it ends. If you get in a jam just try to evade until your ultimate pops again. I rarely die with this build. Keep a close eye on minion health and hit up the priest fairly often since it also helps with dmg, not just healing.
I have a similar build but I do rely on "Army of the Dead", everything else is pretty identical. I still can´t keep my boys alive, especially in situations with Elites that have any kind of telegraphed AoE attacks. Those attacks deal massive damage and you are supposed to dash out of them, the problem is, Blizzard is still not able to create a pet AI that avoids this damage, so they usually all die. In WoW they fixed this problem by changing pets to only receive 5% of this kind of damage, but they didn´t do that here as well. Sometimes that ruins a whole nightmare run when you encounter a room with 3 or 4 elites that all use telegraphed AoE. I hope Blizz will address this problem, else the minion build isn´t really viable for the endgame. Can´t really say though as I´m only 64 at the moment, maybe when maxed out in Paragon the boys become sturdy enough to even survive this damage, I doubt it though if they would survive several telegraphed AoE attacks, "normal" Bosses and Elites wouldn´t be able to harm them in any way.
I believe he mentioned one of the skills makes them only take 30% max damage. So they can’t get one hit by bosses.
@@pjw4125 Doesn´t matter, either you have ticking AoE like the poison lakes or a series of telegraphed AoE, and after 4 hits, which takes less than 2 seconds they are dead. I do have Death´s Defense on 3/3, they still die.
Did you manage to solve the problem of survivability at high levels?
@@KuzkinAndrey no and I’m not liking it. Once your minions die you are screwed against a boss with no small enemies to make corpse. Thinking about respec lol
@@KuzkinAndrey Actually yes, at least so far, I´m Level 74 now and able to run Torment keys in the 30s, so mob level around 84, I took the cult leader board with all its nodes for your minions and they are a lot sturdier now. They still die from excessive AoE Elites, but with the unyielding commander aspect on the amulet I can just pop Army at this moment and my minions get over 100% damage reduction. This gives me usually enough time to kill the whole room without losing a single minion.
Thanks for this build. Good to see an end game minion build that works. Question though: Why not use AOTD instead of Bone Storm?
If you have Aspect of Ultimate Shadow and the shadowblight buff aspect they work quite well with Bone Storm on this build. But AOTD sounds great too.

So I am lost on your gameplay....are you using a core skill or a basic skill? I see that start of the video with Iron maiden and Decreptify, then it changes to Decreptify and blight.....Is there a good one to slot? can you use Reap?
Theres a unique pair of gloves that makes corpse explosion home on enemies, and a scythe that consumes 4 corpses instead of 1 doing up to 240% bonus dmg on a two hand, with both of those corpse explosions MELTS

How are you generating blood orbs? From your action bar, you don't appear to be using Blight but have spec'd into it and, sometimes, in your video you show it being active while other times you do not. What's up wit dat? :)
How do you guys break down walls and barricades? Not running core or basic skills is a peoblem for this. Like sometimes have to destroy pillars or whatever and waiting for bone storm is annoying. Switching skills is also taking a while.

Been messing around while leveling up with a few builds and I'm about to hit 49 but this one seems to be the most fun so far. Haven't messed with a blight build so although this makes it real fucking hard to see a lot of stuff it does seem to work on world tier one. I'll continue to use it while I finish leveling and see how I like it as I progress.
Is this build the blightlord build on the website? If so, there are some discrepancies between the video and the written guide as in the video you mention to use wands and don't use blight, whereas in the written guide they suggest two handed swords and do use the blight skill.
He mentioned he's not using the blight skill because they change a passive so you don't get as much essence for consuming a corpse, also the pets make a corpse due to another passive so you can start corpse explosion straight away. The idea is to use curses instead to buff your damage then go straight into corpse explosion.
This build seems like a great solo build. Minions have the best survivability of what I have tried, they do quite a bit of damage. The only annoying thing i have found is that objects in the open or in dungeons that you have to destroy for loot or in your way you dont have a personal ability that can destroy it and have to use the golem ability to take it out which has a 10 second cool down if there are multiple objects. Other than that has been solid, a little slow of gameplay unless you are surrounded by enemies but dungeons are super easy (not doing heroic yet).

I really like this build. Do you think 3/3 Grim Harvest is really necessary when you aren't really spending essence due to lack of core skills? The only thing costing essence are curses, and not even Iron Maiden since Enhanced Iron Maiden makes it free to cast. I'm thinking 1/3 Grim Harvest is enough if you aren't using Blight, and I think even that's generous. Awesome guide!
Only do 1/3 to get to get 3/3 of fueled by death so you can put points elsewhere.

I will say this, first jumping into WT3 you will need to run a build like this is you run ANY minion build. There are a ton of elites out there and your minions are useless unless you buff them.

I play a variant of this with focus on Thornes, but on World II, could you test if this is in III viabale ? I use Decompose and Blight, Miasma and all the Thornes i can get, with Iron Maiden and all effekts that strenghten Skeletton thornes and Blood Golem Thornes ... Its not mut burst damage but the AOE almost melts everything down. Defense Skeletons with Thorns in them. Care to test?
Your video makes no sense with how you explain skills, at one part you have blight, at the other part you have bone storm. And in the end of video you have no blight at all in your build so a bit unclear what is best to use?
