A few definitions would make this "ultimate beginner guide" better for beginners. Terms used without definitions: Strongholds, Altars, Aspects, Codex, decon (eventually I figured out this means "salvage"). Now, yes, it talks about Altar & Aspect strategies, but it doesn't describe what Altars & Aspects actually ARE. It also mentions the "reputation system" without noting it's called "Renown" in the game. Don't get me wrong, it's a decent guide and thank you for making it. But these are the kinds of things I came to this video for. This guide feels more geared towards "advanced beginners", so to speak.

Small tip - turn on Advanced Tooltip Compare and Information, especially the Information one, under Gameplay in the Options menu. This will show you crucially the RANGE of the %age of the ability of the weapon or armour or any gear. So say you get a Critical Strike %age increase on a new weapon. With the info ticked, it'll say "+17% Critical Strike Damage [17-24%]", with the [ ] now indicating the lowest and highest %age of that possible roll. Without info ticked, you just get the %age. So if it says [17-24%] and you got 17%, you know this is the lowest value it can roll. Just helps you understand if your roll is "god roll" or not on a certain stat or aspect or whatever.

Don't put good aspects on your main weapon until near endgame. You will be constantly replacing your main weapon as it's your best source of damage so to save a lot of gold put the aspect on an amulet

The biggest "tip" I can think of in this day and age: is to actually enjoy the game and just take your time. Most people have seem to forgotten about this, and most videos are going on about on "do or don't do this" while using the word "quick" a lot. Nowadays we pay 70-100 bucks for a game, so don't exhaust yourself with just the grind and reaching end-game to fast, and then go on and complain that there's not enough content. Make your own builds and progress through the game finding things out for yourself. This is my first Diablo game, I love it so far, and I'm going to enjoy it. Even if it takes me a 200hrs play through on my first character in Tier 1.

After loving Diablo & POE for thousands hours of gametime, I think you should cover Dwarven Realms releasing at the end of September, even in its early acess it been a massive blast combining POE-like gearing system combined with Roguelike of Vampire Survivors + Action RPG feeling of BDO in 3rd person being able to animation cancel dashes etc! And the Devs keep pushing out significant updates, changes and fixes daily and the community on discord is really chill and helpful

I want to buy this game but I want to play as a necromancer. A tank build focused with a scythe for mediocre damage output but the main reason is because it looks cool and then on top of it I want to be a summoner. My army of undead is my real power and dps source. I've seen that the necro has shadow and blood magic. What I want is something that shreds enemies llike armor debuff and such but something like lifeleeching also sounds cool. Any recommendations? Also I have never ever played Diablo before but I'm a big RPG lover that has indepth character builds like Skyrim, Dark Souls etc. The creativity these games provide for me are infinitely fun.
I will just have a slow first playthrough and enjoy the game, discover the areas and see what the game has to offer. Min / maxing is ok, but something I only intend to do in later seasons.

Diablo 3 was my first Diablo game I played when it first came out, and holy shit, this game is so much more complex and deeper. This guide really helps. I just wish I would have bought the game for PC. It feels so damn weird and clunky playing on console.

I'm a level 29 Necromancer and didn't know a lot of this stuff as I'm new to the Diablo world. I'm a bit overwhelmed with all I have to learn. I don't even know what build I'm going for. Just wanted to look cool doing it. May need to look at the wiki for my character to get a better handle.

You put the word "beginner" in the title, but this is very advanced subject matter. I have spent more than an hour wandering around in the first area, going in and out of the tavern, clicking the NPCs, trying to figure out how to move beyond the town. For reference, I have logged thousands of hours on original Diablo, Hellfire, Diablo 2, and Diablo 3 - never had trouble figuring out where to go next. D4 is VERY un-intuitive by comparison. Do you have a "how to get past the first tavern" tutorial?

Never under any circumstance start on tier 1. Always start on tier 2. Only switch to 1 if a part gets extremely difficult but I have yet to see that happen even with a beginner.
This for my first Diablo game I haven’t died much but I’m avoiding combat like crazy because I feel like I get overswarmed so quickly. And my attacks feel like they do no damage.

I came to this video looking to answer one question, and ended up with two 😅 My first noob beginner question is “Is it better to spend spec points on one ability at a time before moving to the next, or get new abilities as they become available and level them later?” My new question is. With all this gear/gem respec-ing around what level do I start holding on to gear? I’m still very early in the game and my gear replacing thought process right now is “green number good, red number mark as junk”, the only time I don’t auto equip the green number is when it’s a weapon with a slower attack speed.
I usually prefer to have less but more powerful abilities. You should treat gear as completely disposable until 25, and from there you'll want to optimize but not overspend until 50. From 50 onwards, anything "sacred" with the right stuff is worth maxing.

Great video, someone who actually understands the game, some things can be pretty complex in D4, getting tired of watching people just spreading misinformation, some people need to just take a moment to actually understand, does my head in.

Never played a Diablo but am interested in playing Diablo 4, and this video was super useful for a newcomer - thanks!
The biggest "tip" I can think of in this day and age: is to actually enjoy the game and just take your time. Most people have seem to forgotten about this, and most videos are going on about on "do or don't do this" while using the word "quick" a lot.
Nowadays we pay 70-100 bucks for a game, so don't exhaust yourself with just the grind and reaching end-game to fast, and then go on and complain that there's not enough content. Make your own builds and progress through the game finding things out for yourself.
This is my first Diablo game, I love it so far, and I'm going to enjoy it. Even if it takes me a 200hrs play through on my first character in Tier 1.

After loving Diablo & POE for thousands hours of gametime, I think you should cover Dwarven Realms releasing at the end of September, even in its early acess it been a massive blast combining POE-like gearing system combined with Roguelike of Vampire Survivors + Action RPG feeling of BDO in 3rd person being able to animation cancel dashes etc! And the Devs keep pushing out significant updates, changes and fixes daily and the community on discord is really chill and helpful

I want to buy this game but I want to play as a necromancer. A tank build focused with a scythe for mediocre damage output but the main reason is because it looks cool and then on top of it I want to be a summoner. My army of undead is my real power and dps source. I've seen that the necro has shadow and blood magic. What I want is something that shreds enemies llike armor debuff and such but something like lifeleeching also sounds cool. Any recommendations? Also I have never ever played Diablo before but I'm a big RPG lover that has indepth character builds like Skyrim, Dark Souls etc. The creativity these games provide for me are infinitely fun.

Good guide! I rushed the main campaign just equipping anything that had a green plus sign when I looked at its stats. This video gave me some ideas of how to approach actually making a build and chasing endgame content.

Diablo 3 was my first Diablo game I played when it first came out, and holy shit, this game is so much more complex and deeper. This guide really helps. I just wish I would have bought the game for PC. It feels so damn weird and clunky playing on console.

Just started and im dropping my left over items . Just trying to pay attention to what is better than what I had and using that.
I'm a level 29 Necromancer and didn't know a lot of this stuff as I'm new to the Diablo world. I'm a bit overwhelmed with all I have to learn. I don't even know what build I'm going for. Just wanted to look cool doing it. May need to look at the wiki for my character to get a better handle.

You put the word "beginner" in the title, but this is very advanced subject matter. I have spent more than an hour wandering around in the first area, going in and out of the tavern, clicking the NPCs, trying to figure out how to move beyond the town. For reference, I have logged thousands of hours on original Diablo, Hellfire, Diablo 2, and Diablo 3 - never had trouble figuring out where to go next. D4 is VERY un-intuitive by comparison. Do you have a "how to get past the first tavern" tutorial?
There's a quest log and it shows you where to go. Open your map, then open the questlog from there (it's on the right side).

never played diablo in my life but i am interested in playing this game with my friend. Would we be able to fight other players as well? What happens after you beat the story? can we just keep leveling up? Is this somehow like WOW?
Never under any circumstance start on tier 1. Always start on tier 2. Only switch to 1 if a part gets extremely difficult but I have yet to see that happen even with a beginner.
I'm not making "a" class. I am running all of them for a few hours to see what's interesting before jumping in fully

I came to this video looking to answer one question, and ended up with two 😅
My first noob beginner question is “Is it better to spend spec points on one ability at a time before moving to the next, or get new abilities as they become available and level them later?”
My new question is. With all this gear/gem respec-ing around what level do I start holding on to gear? I’m still very early in the game and my gear replacing thought process right now is “green number good, red number mark as junk”, the only time I don’t auto equip the green number is when it’s a weapon with a slower attack speed.
I usually prefer to have less but more powerful abilities.
You should treat gear as completely disposable until 25, and from there you'll want to optimize but not overspend until 50. From 50 onwards, anything "sacred" with the right stuff is worth maxing.

If I choose an Act II quest over doing the Act I, will I be missing something in the story? Does it matter which act I choose to do? Im level 9, but I have Act I-III options.

guys... and gals... play this game how you want. do all the side quests please. play it fully and enjoy it. stop listening to these youtubers and streamers that want to guide you to the fastest way to the meta. just enjoy the game please. side quests are there for a reason. it doesn't have to be a race. it's only a race for these youtubers that need clicks. you will enjoy the game more thoroughly i promise.
