Let me just say this for all you tech nerds…….the best phone for you is the phone that you like the best. Doesn’t matter the brand. What phone do you like?!?!?! At the end of the day, that’s all that matters. Same with cars. I’m still rocking an S10 plus and an iPhone XS Max as my daily drivers. 💪💪💪And have zero problems.
Nooo!! Processor Snapdragon 8 gen 3 or dimensity 9300+ much better than A17 pro and cooling System iphone very very bad so for this year the iPhone is bad choice.
THANK YOU FOR THIS COMMENT. I can like Apple, Samsung, and google all the ssame time. I have a macbook, a pixel 9 pro xl (my new baby), iphone 12 (retired), and a moto g34 in my lineup that I will probably gift to my nephew. THEY ARE JUST PHONES PEOPLE. RELAX. Love and peace!!!
What's the point? The 16 Pro Max will be faster than the Pixel on a lot of the heavy task. The new Pixel in my opinion already lost against the 15 Pro Max because it is so slow in terms of loading games when being compared to the 15 Pro Max whilst being equal on the simple tasks.
Contrary to popular belief, the Google pixel 9 pro XL that I've been using has completely replaced my iPhone 15 pro Max. I just wanted to test it and regrettably it was running so good that it has now become my daily driver and I'm in the process of selling my iPhone 15 pro Max. I know on tech reviews you're going to see speed test that the iPhone wins but I couldn't tell that one phone was faster than the other on a day-to-day use. The battery life was also surprisingly as good as my iPhone 15 pro Max lasting all day but just using the phone as a phone. It actually surpassed the iPhone 15 pro Max with some specific features. The only problem that I have with all these phones is us that the prices are just too goddamn high 😂😂
Yeah google needs to step up their game with the processors. The cameras are great but the processor is an area where it kinda sucks compared to the iphone 15 line up and the android flagships like the s24 ultra.
You're not going to use your phone comparing it to other phones. You are basically going to use it on your own without comparing it to any other phone so it's kind of like irrelevant
My daily driver is an iPhone 15 pro. I just picked up the pixel 9 pro XL and I have to say the pixel makes my iPhone feel slow the way it loads. Things seem snappier and more fluid. The display definitely looks better and web browsing seems to be a lot faster on the pixel. I'm not sure if it's because my iPhone is a year old and gets used on The daily and the pixel is so new, but I am definitely considering moving my main Sim into the pixel after using it for about 3 days.
I actually disagree, I felt the opposite. I have the 15PM, and used the 9PXL - I had lag within apps on the pixel, and everything just felt like more effort was required to use certain things than they were worth. I also experienced a lot of heating of the device when doing anything which did not feel comfortable. Apple's default is simplistic and requires little to no customisation, and I felt things just worked better on the iPhone mainly due to everything (software) being made for it.
There is no significant difference in stability when scrolling at high speeds between Twitter for iOS and Twitter for Android, but I think there is a difference in stability when scrolling starts from a stopped state(6:32)(7:13) , so it would be interesting to add it to a scrolling test. (Scrolling processing tends to be more demanding when starting to move from a stopped state.)
Why do people benchmark mobile apps and games by the speed they start? On PC, Gamer Nexus and others test games and apps by the speed they run, showing frame times, batch times, etc. Otherwise, you're just testing SSD decompression, OS runtime, iOS, and Android.
iPhone 15 Pro Max : A lot more expensive than corresponding Android alternatives. No charger in the box, and charging isn't particularly fast. Apple's iOS restrictions can be off-putting to newcomers to the ecosystem. The GPU throttles down to 50% of its max performance under load. The photo processing could benefit from less sharpening at times. Rear glass is reportedly much more shatter-prone than before Pixel 9 Pro XL : Battery life is behind the competition. Camera hardware could use an upgrade - you can only do so much with AI. Video quality not up to scratch.
the 9 Pro XL only had a cord in box, I had to pay $30 for a special block just so it wouldn't charge at a snails pace. Now it charges at a turtles pace.
Went from a Pixel 8 Pro to the S24 Ultra and I definitely notice how much snappier the S24 is. I love Pixel, but really wish they would catch up to Qualcomm or just abandon Tensor altogether
It's sad to know that Tensor G4 is even slower than the 2022 Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, there's no way it can keep up with the leading trio of A17 pro, 8 Gen 3 for galaxy and Dimensity 9300
It'll be interesting to see how the Pixel 10 can compete with the new chip. They are ditching the Samsung made chips and are going with TSMC (the same company that manufacturers the Snapdragon chip for Qualcomm) for the Tensor G5
@@lrosky71 Gosh, i really hate samsung made chip, my phone has 8 gen 1 (Mi12) it's hot it's battery draining and the performance is suck because it's limited to keep the temperature normal

So close its not distinguishable. The key is the integrations. The reason why I am leaving for a Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold is because the ecosystem I use most is Google services, not Apple. From TH-cam to Search to Workspace to Gmail, etc - I simply use Google integration points more. Layer in Generatve AI and there just is too much. The Fold gives me rhe better advancements.
Yes, you have a point and, in that case, are making the right choice, I often am using google services on my iPhone, but they simply work better on Android phones and especially on Pixel
Yeah the gmail app works terribly on my ipad, I've been considering trying ProtonMail or ditch Apple all together. Apple's app integrations have always been so garbage
Google services are pretty much the same on iOS and Android. If Google chose the walled garden approach and made GMail/G-Maps etc Android exclusive, I’d understand your point.
That's only against google pixel. Other flagship androids are as smooth, or even smoother than ios apps or scrolling (i am talking about high refresh rate phones such as 144hz or 160hz)
The software plays perhaps even more of a role than the hardware in how smooth a phone feels. iOS prioritizes smoothness above all else, even if that means slower animations, while Android seems to just slap on some animations or wants to balance snappiness as well.
Amazing Nick! After the S24 ultra, can you also do a speed test comparison with the S23 ultra? I noticed the Geekbench scores on the Pixel 9 pro XL is not even up to the S23 ultra which is disappointing. Anyways I'm just curious 😅
The Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra Is Better Than Every Phone, It Can Even Surpass The iphone 16 Pro Max, And You Can Play Fortnite And More Consolegames On Samsung Phone, Ios Lacks That
Seems like iPhone is faster with bigger apps like games and pixel was faster with every day apps. Maybe the ram can keep small apps always ready to go with apple focused on more GPU performance. And usually pixels and iPhones both optimize when they first come out to fix any bugs and optimize their batteries. Those pixel photos are crazy though.
This week i switched to the iPhone 15 pro Max after 14 years of using Android and after 1,5 years full of drama with the Google Pixel 7. As long as Google makes phones with the (Samsung made) Tensor chips i will not even think about buying them again. My pixel 7 kept overheating, to a point i couldn’t even keep it connected to my Android auto, because it kept crashing. And the battery was also a drama, didn’t even last half a day. The scrolling was terrible the lag was frustrating.
Bro anyways the iPhone is used for almost an year there for it can’t be a fair comparison because there is definitely a difference when comparing with new and old phones
All my android phones were fast and snappy when new, but after a year or two they would start gettting very laggy. I used an iPhone XR for five years and it never got laggy, yes in the end you could tell it was no longer the fastest phone around but it kept working at the same reliable speed. That's when you really see the difference between Androids and an iPhones, at least for me.
Well u must've not had a recent Android flagships because that hasn't been the case anymore. I have the iPhone 14 Pro now but before this I had the new pixels and galaxys... they never slowed down.
same. i’ve been using iphone 11 for the past 4 years and it never got laggy still solid performance. only reason i’m moving to a new phone is that the battery life is short on my 11.
Hey Nick, how about charging both the photos to 100% before begining the test right from boot up and at the end see which one was more efficient? Leave auto brightness on or tune it to similar brightness
For me, the Pixel 9 Pro XL is the phone of the year. As someone with a disability, I love the voice command feature-it's just impeccable, even better than on the iPhone. The streamlined and minimalist Android interface, especially in the settings, is another strong point. However, I'm not ready to switch from my iPhone just yet for the simple reason that the iPhone is still superior in terms of photo and video quality. The day Google understands that instead of focusing on unnecessary artificial intelligence, they should focus on surpassing the iPhone in photo and video capabilities, it will be a game-changer. You’re capable of it, Google-you have the money and the talent to surpass Apple. What are you waiting for?
5:31 While many Android phones now offer 120Hz screens, there's just something about Apple's implementation that feels smoother and more refined. It's not just about the refresh rate but also how well the hardware and software work together. That seamless integration is where Apple really shines.
I was looking forward to get the pixel 9 , but as always pixel disappoints with its performance and high price tag. Except the performance I think Google nailed it with this one
This isn't an apples-to-apples comparison- the iOS version of an app could be better than the Android version from a performance perspective or vice versa.
Generally some extremely small differences. You'd save more time in the quicker abilities to navigate and operate the Pixel or other in day to day use, something always missed. 😊
The pixel 9 pro XL shows that it still has a lot to do to catch up to the iPhone 15 pro Max, but I do believe the pixel 9 pro has more functionality, but I think overall the iPhone is smoother and people complaining about the Tensor chip in the pixel have some Valley points especially for gaming. It just isn’t up to the task for gaming specially high intensive games but then the pixel was never designed for gaming in mind in general really that’s another point but great comparison..
Anyone still using iphone 7 as a primary one - mine still works great atleast for daily activities. 8 years old and finally going for an 16 pro max upgrade , cant wait
I’ve had many many flagships over the years , I’m currently using 15 pro max and am waiting for my pixel 9pro fold, who really cares about how fast they are , we are talking about split seconds these kind of comparisons seem like a waste of time to me, what are you doing with your phone that half a second makes a difference to what phone you buy?
IOS just seem more polished and well maintained. The Apple ecosystem is just amazing and lightweight and smooth. Not just iPhones but iPads, Macbooks and all. Even my old iPhone and Macbook performs more smoothly and "rich/premium" than newer Android smartphones and Windows laptops. Its all in the Operating System. It is super polished in its programming.
Yeah, frame drops like usual when scrolling on Android. My S24U is the first Android I've ever had with very minimal stutters like that. You don't get those on iOS, period. That was the first thing I was delighted about when I started using my previous 13 Pro Max, a while back ago. Apple put more effort into such things. That's why the scrolling range on iPhones is more limited. With a flick of the finger, less content is loaded on iOS, which means that that sequence of content loaded is more controlled by the CPU and therefore you don't get stutters. On Android, you flick once and you scroll through pages and pages of content, which will lag and drop frames because there's too much to load at once. I never liked that on Android.
iPhone experience is hard to match For example On the lock screen there is only the important notifications and then I pick up the phone and just buy glassing added the notifications turned into visible just by the help of Face ID and the Face ID is also hard to match I cannot go back to the touching a specific part of the screen just to unlock my phone
Pixel scrolling. The iPhone relaunches minimized applications with a smooth transition, without any visible screen refresh or flickering. On the other hand, pixel relaunch minimized app, particularly PUBG, where you can see screen refresh or flicker or something like a black screen.
The biggest deal breaker for me to switching to the pixel pro 9 from the 15 pro, is the future proof of the cpu. the cpu has the same speed and specs as the snapdragon 8 gen 1. its still a fast cpu but its outclassed by the a17 in the iphone. its not even close.
Initial testing of GPU score iphone is win. But when you play game for 30 min and over. you can see Android phone maintain frame rate lot better than. iphone and the screen brightness as well.
The default animation speed on pixel is so slow. turn on developer options and you can turn off animations when opening apps or switching apps or you can speed it up or slow it down. Might be an interesting video to make.
I've had apps crash or behave strangely on my s23, def going back to iOS as soon as the 16 releases. I even tried that pixel tablet and that one also had its glitches. Worst thing was that the youtube app would become unresponsive all the time, and its funny since its a google tablet and a google app (yes i've tried resetting both devices to factory settings). I find that google's own apps are more optimized on iOS than their own OS lol.
I'm curious to see the codecs used in the rendering test. My guess is that the Pixel used h264 while the iPhone used h265. That would explain the file size difference and if that's the case, then the iPhone definitely was faster.
Wow !! This kind of video i was waiting from youtubers... I am Android fanboy but must say iphone way too smoother , polished , fluid , eye pleasing than pixel ... I am little sad 😭 knowing ios is way ahead than Android when it comes to smooth user experience... By the way your voice is just 🔥🔥
Hey Nick, great job as usual..appreciate if you could add 5g speedtest as I believe Google Pixel phones were notoriously patchy with 5g network speeds in the past and iPhones were the best ❤
I recommend you make the animation 0.5x speed or turn it off on Pixel. That might make it run much faster than the iPhone when opening apps, something that iOS can't do. It would be interesting to see the comparison. And this is also the main reason I don't go iOS.
*edit* I commented before I got to the scrolling part lol. The slow scrolling of the iPhone drives me crazy. Also, you can adjust the animation speed of the Pixel to mimick the slow animations of the iPhone. One thing I never see anyone mention is how "slow" iphones scroll. Their animations are slower, so it has time to load "smoother".
I like how iOS keeps scrolling on a slightest nudge, it has less friction, I think that scrolling is more pleasant than Android's scrolling that has high friction and stops very almost immediately. On the other hand, iOS has very slow flick scrolling speed, and Android is fast. iOS's edge bounce-back (rubberbanding) is better Android's UI stretch.
Staying at 8GB seemings like a doubling down on gaming customers. 6GB 14pro has proven the claims not necessary to be false, and the benchmarks not even to provide some basics coming out available in more basic phones. Cheaper 2 to 3 year old phones have 12GB of ram.
It's about time that Tensor, Snapdragon, Exynos and mediatek switched to the on chip memory tech that Apple silicon has( Unified memory) . I'm pretty sure with that done we can expect some next level animations on Android also the general UI experience will also improve.
Guy, what are you smoking? Scrolling anything on the pixel 9 is jarring! it is absolutely not the same as any other Android or Iphone. IT's the reason I returned the pixel 9, the videos capabilities suck, the phone still gets hot, and scrolling is just buggy, I will wait till the pixel goes down in price, because it isn't worth the 1K price tag on it. I've used mid-range phones that perform worlds better.
@@disastermaster3K I would pay that and be happy, but the non promotional deal is way too much, $100 more and I can get the Iphone. I'm not paying Flagship dollars for a mid-range device. I have Mint mobile, and I just paid a whole year of service.
buddy the iPhone has its own apps and system so the apps launch differently so the android has fast launch to games on different devices but the apple has everything on one but the loading screen speed only changes

Hey Nick, how about charging both the photos to 100% before begining the test right from boot up and at the end see which one was more efficient? Leave auto brightness on or tune it to similar brightness
You can give marks for speed test so we can identify which one is fast
Do you know opening apps for test you just test your router performance? It's what device will be served first
@@gigamoment this isn't true
@@RemingtonMK Of course it's true. The question is, can you handle it?
5:31 While many Android phones now offer 120Hz screens, there's just something about Apple's implementation that feels smoother and more refined. It's not just about the refresh rate but also how well the hardware and software work together. That seamless integration is where Apple really shines.
Got my pixel 9 pro xl for £509 after trade in + bonus on iphone 15 plus 👌🏼
I was looking forward to get the pixel 9 , but as always pixel disappoints with its performance and high price tag. Except the performance I think Google nailed it with this one
Google nailed the design and feel, it's a stunning phone just wish it had Snapdragon
This isn't an apples-to-apples comparison- the iOS version of an app could be better than the Android version from a performance perspective or vice versa.
Generally some extremely small differences. You'd save more time in the quicker abilities to navigate and operate the Pixel or other in day to day use, something always missed. 😊
@@yeezytaughtmewell I don't care because I do not play games.
8 years old and finally going for an 16 pro max upgrade , cant wait
can you do a regular pixel 9 vs regular pixel 8?
I’ve had many many flagships over the years , I’m currently using 15 pro max and am waiting for my pixel 9pro fold, who really cares about how fast they are , we are talking about split seconds these kind of comparisons seem like a waste of time to me, what are you doing with your phone that half a second makes a difference to what phone you buy?
Great vid nick 👍👍
Childish Animations on iPhone makes it look smooth,do a super-slow motion on the camera then tell which one is smooth.
Well the ad from france brought me here, so i watch this review , this is decent and clear of what specs in Google pixel 9
Yes I always try to android but always end getting back to Apple gadgets . It’s just that it’s super smooth and perform much better in every aspect
So people start buying 2 phones and compare both of these everytime right !! Thats gr8
Am not a fan of the pixel UI Mr Nick, but I like it because it's running android 😅😅 8:37
I got rid of my pixel 8 pro xl to go back to Samsung because it stutters way too much. Such an expensive phone to stutter like that is ANNOYING 😂😂
mine doesnt
Great speed test keep it up as always brother
The 19.5:9 aspect ratio is much better. Samsung also uses that aspect. I was hoping Google would go to that on the 9 series...
Watching this on my OnePlus Open. Android 4life 😂
Those lags and stutters on Pixel are insane. I was waiting for 9, but i think i'll keep my S23 as it runs so smooth
iPhone experience is hard to match
For example
On the lock screen there is only the important notifications and then I pick up the phone and just buy glassing added the notifications turned into visible just by the help of Face ID and the Face ID is also hard to match I cannot go back to the touching a specific part of the screen just to unlock my phone
@@Medqen you can set in on Google pixel too. If you have this phone
We need Pixel 9 Pro XL vs S24 Ultra
Can't wait to see what happens in the pixel 9 pro xl vs s24 ultra video 😮👍
You can change the animation speed for app opening on Android, making it beat any iPhone. That's just a cosmetic UX thing though.
The default animation speed on pixel is so slow. turn on developer options and you can turn off animations when opening apps or switching apps or you can speed it up or slow it down.
Might be an interesting video to make.
I do agree, however if I turn off animations on pixel I will then need to reduce animations of iPhone to make it fair.
So slow?
@@attomicchicken if you have an android I recommend trying what I said and tell me what you think.
@@shaunmadden545 yeah, i hate animations, lol. i always turn then completely off and the phone feels like a rocket.
@@agspr light speed all the way brother.
Thank you, Nick!
Some times Smoothness depends on the App cache memory which runs and loads apps fastly.
I'm curious to see the codecs used in the rendering test. My guess is that the Pixel used h264 while the iPhone used h265. That would explain the file size difference and if that's the case, then the iPhone definitely was faster.
man that choppiness while scrolling is never going to go away on android.
Wow !! This kind of video i was waiting from youtubers... I am Android fanboy but must say iphone way too smoother , polished , fluid , eye pleasing than pixel ... I am little sad 😭 knowing ios is way ahead than Android when it comes to smooth user experience...
By the way your voice is just 🔥🔥
I’m an iPhone user, but if I was about to get an Android I would get the Pixel.
That’s why I won’t go back to android everything just runs smoothly on iPhone
Bro we like your speedtest its fun though
Try to play game for 5 minutes in pixel and you'll get your hand burnt and battery drained half.
I had the pixil 8 and that's the last pixel I'll get. That janky scrolling is unacceptable. S24 ultra's been smooth as butter
Hey Nick, great job as usual..appreciate if you could add 5g speedtest as I believe Google Pixel phones were notoriously patchy with 5g network speeds in the past and iPhones were the best ❤
Thanks so much for sharing your feedback!
Як би люди не відносились до айфонів із-за іх цінової політики,але це саме найкраще придбання на ринку смартфонів!!!
Again Nick Thank You, Your video matter
My pleasure!
Wait till the first major update for the pixel 9
I recommend you make the animation 0.5x speed or turn it off on Pixel. That might make it run much faster than the iPhone when opening apps, something that iOS can't do. It would be interesting to see the comparison. And this is also the main reason I don't go iOS.
I see some "sticky" scrolling on the pixel. Is this still a problem?
I currently daily a Motorola but the iPhone looks way smoother.
I know it's a stretch but please do a speed test between Nothing phone 2 and Pixel 9 series
It doesn't matter how pretty it looks if the software and apps aren't well optimized. All developers prioritize iPhone
Now, this is honest👍
Apple always messes up my settings with every update
Used iPhones for years with mainly Google services switched to the Pixel 8 Pro and will never use an Apple product again.
Please 🙏 nothing phone 2 vs google pixel 9 speed test ❤
2:48 Also the new camera bar is meant to mimic the google search widget as well
I like how iOS keeps scrolling on a slightest nudge, it has less friction, I think that scrolling is more pleasant than Android's scrolling that has high friction and stops very almost immediately. On the other hand, iOS has very slow flick scrolling speed, and Android is fast. iOS's edge bounce-back (rubberbanding) is better Android's UI stretch.
Screen stutters are known issue for pixel 8 and 9 for android 14 .
android 15 QPR 1 beta solved that scrolling jankyness problem.
Hello Nick.
Back here.
Pls do compare the Pixel 9 with the Nothing Phone(2). The Phone(2) doesn't have scrolling jankiness.
Staying at 8GB seemings like a doubling down on gaming customers. 6GB 14pro has proven the claims not necessary to be false, and the benchmarks not even to provide some basics coming out available in more basic phones.
Cheaper 2 to 3 year old phones have 12GB of ram.
If Gp 9 pro XL put a processor sd 8 gen 3 on it's device I'm so very proud to used it
It's about time that Tensor, Snapdragon, Exynos and mediatek switched to the on chip memory tech that Apple silicon has( Unified memory) .
I got one for 599 new from my carrier
@@disastermaster3K I would pay that and be happy, but the non promotional deal is way too much, $100 more and I can get the Iphone. I'm not paying Flagship dollars for a mid-range device. I have Mint mobile, and I just paid a whole year of service.
I noticed in the displacement lags that are unfortunate.
@@carlinhoo0878 yeah bro, now I have to pay a restocking fee because all the Tech channels that didn't mention this in their reviews.
I just hope the jump to TSMC, now that the Samsung deal is over, will change the Tensor in many ways, especially performance
buddy the iPhone has its own apps and system so the apps launch differently so the android has fast launch to games on different devices but the apple has everything on one but the loading screen speed only changes
