I'm sure there are some guys out there who're absolutely apoplectic over the way you painted and marked your 88... decals from a Kubelwagen!! I'm not one of them. I think it looks great - artistic license is what makes the model yours, and unique. I agree; trying to make something that's overall grey interesting to look at isn't the easiest thing, and I think you've done a great job here. Great vid, thanks for sharing.
Thank you my friend, much appreciated. It was really fun to paint and once you have played the artistic licenses card it becomes very relaxing as you can't really get anything wrong 😜😜😜
I guess Im asking randomly but does any of you know of a trick to log back into an instagram account..? I somehow forgot my account password. I would appreciate any help you can give me.
@Chris Billy i really appreciate your reply. I got to the site through google and Im waiting for the hacking stuff atm. I see it takes quite some time so I will get back to you later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
I empathise on becoming nostalgic Glen, so many of the models I choose to buy have been bought for me before along time ago by those who have gone. It's a bitter sweet.
The Jagdpanther and the 88mm were the earliest kits i can recall building, certainly as i was working on the 88mm i was often transported back to the kitchen table in my grandparents house just a short 50 year trip back in time 😄
Very nice job Glen. Just one point that I feel you should be aware of. The reels on the bogeys carried electrical cables, not hose or rope. Their purpose was when a battery of several 88mm guns were in position, they had a fire control centre. The cables were laid out to the centre and the officer in charge would communicate with each gun leader via the cables to aim at whatever height and direction he deemed to be effective. A little while ago I bought the Deutsch Africa Corps version off the internet but didn't realise that it doesn't come with the bogeys, :- (
Thanks Roger, i sort of knew that but it fell into the catagory of i cant be bothered figuring out what else to use so i just went with the tubing provided in the kit 😬
Amazingly detailed kit for its age - the tooling is from 1973 and I am seriously contemplating getting one. I have a Lancaster nose kit in 1/32 and I reckon they would look kind of cool together.
That sounds like the ingredients for what could be an action backed dio, imagine the nose section just about to come crashing down of the 88 that had just shot it down!!! Lots of potential in that combo for sure 👍
Just finished the Cycle and Gun. I was concerned about how I would weather an all German Grey subject. I got some great insights from you Bro. Thanks for posting the video. ✊🏾
The dials and placards are a great idea - one I shall shamelessly pinch! I look forward to seeing it finished. I'm all for the artistic license as well - I love the covered wagon kill mark. I saw one with a flying saucer on somewhere! Top job. Cheers.
It's looking really good, Glen.....great touches with the extra bits of paint....definitely took away the all grey look and made the model (as they say in the USA) "pop"! Will be awaiting the final diorama to come....thanks for keeping us, who are hunkered down at home, entertained with the visuals and your commentary. See you on the next one.
Great video, I really liked the grey modulations, looks very lifelike. I thought the brown seat covering looked a bit like a burnt pizza :-). I am going to attempt a British 25pdr and will try the same type of modulations in green, so thanks for the demo. Keep safe.
Thanks PMR, lets just say i am glad that two plastic butts are going to be covering those seat covers because the vision i had in my mind didn't really appear in the execution
Looks fab. Just subscribed. Having just built the same kit I wasn't sure if I should do grey or dark yellow. Went for yellow but seeing how yours has worked out think i should have gone down the grey route. Brilliant job, can't wait to see the diorama. Keep safe pal, best wishes from England.
There's a different vibe with your videos. A more relaxed and experienced kind of myeah look to it which I personally adore. Im a new model maker and right now as I comment this im building sd. Kfz. 251/1 Ausf. A I like the ausf A better than the cheaper late war versions I think its the doors. But watching and listening, learning with your video in the background makes it alot more enjoyable. I appreciate your videos imma go see if you have a video of a half track build right now
Thank you very much, i really appreciate your feedback. I havent built a german halftrack just yet, but i have the classic Tamiya 251/1 Ausf D in the stash and do have plans for its use in a diorama in the future, send me through some pics of your build when it is finished. 👍👍👍
Are you suggesting there were greay 88s coming out of the factory in the late war period? After feb. 18 1943 all german military vehicles and weapons were factory painted either RAL 7028 dark yellow, or a factory camo scheme using the tritonal scheme of yellow, redbrown and green, or the tropentarn schemes of 8000/7008 or 8020/7027. Not grey. Nothing late war was grey unleas it had lasted that long and somehow fallen through the repaint orders in early 43.
Hahaha I defer to your expert knowledge Adam. I am not necessarily all that committed to that degree of accuracy, some times I actually forget about things like that and get fixated on other perhaps less important things like sculpting a miniature 1/35 dick 😇
Good evening, you have completed a grezt looking subject, and to a certain degree this hobby is all about artisic lecence or adding detail that may or may not have been seen or usec, keep safe ib these troubled times.
What are the hoses actually used for on the real thing? I've only been modeling for a short time so my knowledge of how these guns worked is very limited along with what markings go with what regiments etc. That said, I think most people would never know if it was the correct markings or the correct colour paint or not. Its art not a restoration job and is open to interpretation. It looks great , if mine turn out as good I'll be very happy thanks for sharing
Thanks Allan, much appreciated. I believe that they were something to do with communications, perhaps like a telephone cable system? But i am sure if that's not right someone will quickly comment correcting me, which i would be happy about 😄
@@HalidonDioramas I can't give you accurate facts regarding the 'hoses' but as I understand it. Many of these guns would be gathered together for Anti-Aircraft cover of a strategic area. Within the battery of guns, a Control Centre would be located, which arranged for a blanket of flak to be put up. This needed to be co-ordinated. The cables from each gun were connected to the control centre, who in turn issued co-ordinates to each gun, so they all knew what height to set fuses and direction to aim, thus achieving optimum coverage to protect the chosen location. A couple of guys on each gun would have headsets on, so they could receive the lastest instructions and make adjustments to the gun and shells.

Great build Glen👍👍 your the only other one I know who makes their own decals. Its very limited but a creative mind and you can be pulled off. Really enjoy your videos. Looking forward to the diorama. I need someone here to help me do videos i like how yours go.👍

Yes, the guy on the left side was a real pain, i gave up in the end and that's why he is sitting on one of the bogies having a drink, i just couldn't get him to ft properly at all :(
Now that's a one in a million missus brother, hang onto her for sure!!!!! If I build another one, I think I would be tempted to go eastern front deep in winter, gun covered in snow and ice and crew trying to just keep warm and stay alive. It is a great kit, a true classic I believe for sure, enjoy the build mate. 👍
