Very interesting and beautiful. Many authors (not just in books,) describe Mota as a smaller version of Lagunero (Dovii) except much more muscular. Parachromis motaguensis is mainly a riverine fish while Lagunero is found in river habitats is more a lake fish as the name Lagunero indicates. Like the Pavon (Peacock bass, Cichla species) both Mota and Lagunero are pursuit predators while Pinta (Jaguar guapote or Parachromis managuensis) is like the Largemouth bass (Micropterus salmoides) in that both are ambush predators which may why "Peacock bass" (Pavons) don't compete, niche wise, with Florida Largemouth bass (Micropterus salmoides floridanus) in southern Florida. Also Pinta or Jaguar guapote (Parachromis managuensis) does very well in oxygen depleted water (backwater). This bring up the question can the Pinta hold it's own against "backwater" channa (snakehead fish) such as: Bullseye channa (Channa marulius), Blotched channa (Cbanna maculata), Chevron channa (Channa striata). Since I believe a fish that is made to swim in water is better swimmers in water than fish built to swim through mud that given the advantage to Jaguar cichlids because the niche may overlap but the niche of each fish. But the big reason is not because channa only has an advantage over pintas in water devoid of oxygen rather than in water only low in oxygen. The big reason the Jaguar cichlid has an advantage over channas is for the same reason Largemouth bass (Micropterus salmoides) and other American sunfish (Centrarchidae) has an advantage over Snakehead fish (Channidae). The reason is channa (Channidae) like pike (Esox) prefer fish with soft ray fins than fish with spikey hard spines for prey items. Snakehead fish has soft rays for fins while sunfish (Centratchidae) and cichlid (Cichlidae) have spikey hard spines in their fins. I did not use Northern channa (Channa argus) in my earlier example because the Northern channa inhabiting the Potomac Rivers, as well as now Pennsylvania's rivers and lakes(Congradulations!), is basically a cold water version of the Blotched channa except with the ability to hibernate and estimate. While I don't condone the freelancing of introducing new animals into foreign lands & waters because of the possibility of also introducing parasites and pathogen, if the fish is already there the you will not only have a great food fish with possible medicinal properties but also a great game fish whose young will be great feeders for your native game fish and a tool in fighting rodents and diseases carrying insects (primarily mosquitoes and other pestilent causing aquatic developed insects. In sreas that grow rice channas are important tools against rodents and plant eating insects as well as human disease-carrying insects. The big reason for governmebt wilife organization campagin push against walking catfish and snakehead fish is to deflect critcism for their disasterous introductins of European carp, Asian Carp, Brown trout and European Atlantic trout along with Myxobolus cerebralis parasite, which causes Whirling disease, that one of the two Salmonidae, Brown Trout (Salmo trutta) or European Atlantic Salmon (Salmo salar). As one Florida pet owner once will have famously said, "It is not the pet owners that had brought in the "invasives!"
While it is important, the main reason Iseem obsessed with this fight is not to stop another restriction against our citizens personal liberty. I feel very strongly that a laboratory with or without government assistance should develop a process that would take a organism from conception to adulthood under sterile laboratory condition as a way to introduce new plants and animals into our United States to prevent the introduction and spread of disease or parasites. The fact is when the "evil" Europeans arrived to the Americas. I am not including the Vikings because they were pagan. But if anyone wants to go back before the first tribal peoples entered the Americas then the almost all the plant and animal niches in the Americas, which had been filled and emptied, were filled. But when the infamous Christopher Columbus led "evil" Europeans most animal and plant niches were empty
Many native plants were poisonous or barbed to deal with colossal Mammoths, Mastodons, Ground Sloths, Glyptodons, giraffe-like Camels, Poseidon-type rhinoceros, Khalkotaurol ruminants, Diomedian horses and Erymanthian pigs. Roc birds, Titanic bears, Nemean lions, Goliath jaguars, Sword-toothed cats, Mercurial cheetahs, Cerebus dogs, Jotrmungandr serpents and Leviathan fish. But when Europesn arrived all were missing. The Blue pike, Passenger pigeon. Prairie hen, Carolina parakeet, Great Plains wolf and Florida panther would disappear after European arrival but so did so many plants and animals brought with those Europeans to fill some of those emptied niches, domesticated and feral: horses, pigs, cattle, dogs, cats, Monk parrots, Rock pigeons, English sparrow, starlings, walking catfish and snakehead fish.
There are some animals and plants that can benefit our environment along with the health of our people and animals. New Zealand Mudfish, smaller snakehead fish (channa), carnivorous plants. Ant-headhunting phorid flies, pitcher plant spiders, Vicuna, Chiru, Rheas and possibly even some Rhinoceroses can benefit our Nation. Channa Barca shown in the video sent to you of your friends trip to Asia is a gorgeous fish larger than dwarf but not as big as Northern channa, Channa argus, would benefit the aquarium trade, agriculture, health as well as sports. I believe if enough people know the truth shops would sell snakeheads fish (channa), farmers would use them in fields and mosquito population would be reduced .
Aquarium use , agriculture and pest contol :
Climbing perch - Anabas, Ctenopoma, Microctenopoma, Sandelia :
    Sandelia bansii (Rocky kurper)
    Ssndelia capensis (Cape kurper)
and New Zealand mudfish (Neochanna) -6 species.

Can u keep a single female by herself?
I have a mated pair and I want to get rid of the male. That would leave her by herself.
I tried the same thing with a Jack Dempsey pair I had. I got rid of the male and shortly after the female started being scared and hiding a lot. She got hard to feed because she wouldnt come out of hiding to eat. Im not sure if its because she was alone
Some people say its not good to keep them by theirselves. Im wondering if this is just a problem with Dempseys or cichlids in general.
What are your thoughts on splitting up a pair and keeping a solo female motogense?
    Thanks
