    I have the Perrin 3" turbo inlet and love it. It allows a lot of noise to come through from the turbo. I used the supplied clamps and everything is holding well. I did have to cut the hose to fit my Grimmspeed intake. Also if your intake is 3" you can get the 3" model for the wrx. Boost control is fine with just the hose clamp.

    Grimmspeed say you won’t need a tune for theirs so I wouldn’t think you would need one for the tmi one but keen to see the outcome.

    That sucks man. I’ve heard stories of people saying the stock inlet busting open so I ordered mine the day they dropped. Also looked at the TDMImports inlet but they were crazy expensive lol. The nostrum is a good part to get for peace of mind when running corn.
    I got a fuel leak caused by bad seal on my in cabin tank. First time filling up tank in a few months since they did the recall for LPFP. I probably fudged the install on my 2nd reinstall of my dw300c bc my first time I didn’t have any issues with full gas tank lol. Now I’m kinda concerned if that affected my tune since I just found out about this now.

    Good thing it was something simple.
    I'm in the same boat with my 2016 wrx. I want to replace it before it does that.

    With E85 or you E60 mix with Lucas ethanol lubricant & stabilizer the green stuff meant for ethanol, I run it with every fill up 1oz for 5 gallons and never have issues with E60 or more it protects oil and provides lube to fuel system will fix all ur oscillation issues

      Omg I completely forgot about that stuff. I ran in in my last wrx with e85 and haven't put it in this car once. I'll have to start running that again. Thanks for the reminder!

    Just got a P0000 and P0003 on very cold start while running the MAPerformance Stage 1 OTS tune…
    Flashed back to stock, replaced battery (which was junk and needed to be done) and cleaned MAF. Been fine for a few weeks now on the stock tune….been waiting for that check engine light to come back up 🤷🏻‍♂️

    I run the Perrin inlet and it’s been holding up perfect. No issues at all. If you don’t want to retune the car just buy an oem inlet. The one that’s closest to oem air flow is the grimmspeed. But Perrin or TD inlets will affect AFR too much 👍🏽

    Funny thing is, you said the Grimm speed was on 4-5 week back order?
    It’s been well over that since this video was posted, and I ordered my GS turbo inlet form IIR over 4 months ago and still have yet to receive it.
    So you made the right choice.

    • @StreetInspired1
      @StreetInspired1  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah Grimmspeed made a public post about them last week mentioning that they were extremely overwhelmed with the amount of orders and were trying their best to get caught up. Seems like everyone who owns a wrx bought one lol

    I don’t think a re tune is actually necessary just for a new inlet hose. Ask your tuner.
    Nostrums hpfp would be awesome

    • @StreetInspired1
      @StreetInspired1  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I asked my tuner and he said he wouldn't install it without tuning. However he did recently tell me that once I install it do a cruise log and he will see if it changed anything and may make a small revision if need be

    • @datblue_wrx

      It’s recommended not necessary
      I had the Perrin turbo inlet without a tune and ran it for couple thousands of miles and nothing happened. After I got tuned from Ron Watson bc I was going Fbo and there wasn’t any issue while tuning!

    • @StreetInspired1

      I'd start with an Accesport. Flex Fuel and a tune. If e85 is available innyour area. A stock car with an e30 tune will make 300-320whp

    That’s a bummer bro. I think you previously mentioned not getting more power from adding a FMIC since you already had a tune so at least if you get a tune again you will also get a bit more power from that too.

      That's true. I didn't think of that!

      @@StreetInspired1 I have a kinda noob question. I recently went Cobb flex fuel on my 15WRX running a target e50 blend an upgraded DW LPFP. Ive heard you mention a few times having fuel oscillation issues and was curious what you mean by that. I run a full tank of 91 after every 3 tanks of e50 just to help lubricate my HPFP. My tuner said it wasn’t necessary to do that but I read it was a good idea. Hoping you could explain the oscillation issue and what I should look out for. Thanks!
      Ps. Thanks for the solid content 👍🏼

    • @StreetInspired1
      @StreetInspired1  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@sgomez805 yeah so since you run 91 every few tanks you might not have issues. I almost never run 93. So I get dips in fuel pressure sometimes and have to lower my E content for a little while. I typically run E65. And you'll feel the car bog out for a second during normal Driving and look at thr accesport and the fuel pressure dropped down to under 100psi. It doesn't happen often but when it does it scares me lol

      @sgomez805 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@StreetInspired1 ok good to know! Thanks for the heads up. My tuner said I could put anywhere from e50-e60 and I should be fine. I’ll probably still run a full tank of 91 every 3 tanks just to be safe. I appreciate all the solid content! 👌🏼

  • @FunTimeWithSouls

    If you use the Perrin inlet you don’t need a tune. Yes a tune will probably get more out of it but it’s not needed.

  • @DarkWolfWRX
    @DarkWolfWRX 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Id honestly get a stock one and build up those parts you want slower so its not as big a hit on the wallet NOW. Or allow you to get the grimmspeed one since the wait wont matter.
    But agreed no garage blows. The house i bought doesnt have one. I do have area to work if i need to but still, a garage would be so much micer haha.

    • @StreetInspired1
      @StreetInspired1  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I really thought about it I just would hate to get a used stock and and the stress of being used Uninstalled and then reinstalled may lead to it cracking again in the near future. And I definitely miss the garage or even just a private driveway!

    • @DarkWolfWRX
      @DarkWolfWRX 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@StreetInspired1 I understand that. Though I personally wouldnt worry too much about that. I have not seen one crack where yours did, more so where they bolt to the turbo. Though that would only put you at say 50$ less than the TDM one.
      Though according to Grimmspeed the inlet itself will not require a tune. Though obviosly check with your tuner. I know mine had said I wouldnt need an update for my charge pipe, but I ended up getting more parts anyway and requiring an update anyway haha.

    I installed both the Perrin inlet and IBR TGV (went from only upper delete) at the same time. The tuner ask me to log for him, I went straight and do logging both on street and dyno. And I didn’t see significant change in the a/f. The tuner said the same and told I would be fine without retune.
    Ps. Now im retuned when i installed KB headers and new turbo.

    • @StreetInspired1
      @StreetInspired1  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@StreetInspired1 yes, anything which could change the intake flow should require a tune, but there still safety factor which like you said that to see if it’s worth for the retune or not.

    My 2020 WRX sometimes idles kinda high. I have a ets Catted j pipe, ets intake, and tuned on e30 by Mtuned. My car has approximately 30k miles. I’m having this weird issue to where sometimes my car will idle up to 1100 rpm then go back down. It doesn’t do it all the time but it’s done it enough for me to notice. Any suggestions on what that might be? Thanks.

    • @StreetInspired1
      @StreetInspired1  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Double check that the defroster or anything that would kick on the A/c isn't running. That could cause it to spike but my idle also jumps up and down slightly from the car changing between open loop/closed loop or the Radiator fans kicking on. I would just try doing a few logs and once you catch it happen on a log send it to your tuner and see if they have any imput!
