    Upgrade to an aluminum rad, keep the stock fans, they flow more that the aftermarket ones. I have the Mishimoto aluminum radiator and keeps my temps low.

    You can also try changing the hood to a vented one to improve flow for the hot air to come out the engine bay

    Had heating issues in my 2001 rsti, swapped in a mishimoto x line 3 row radiator, a 12" spal fan @ 1200 cfm & a 13" spal fan @ 1700 cfm, about 10 oz of water wetter, about a 70/30 water to coolant mix (live in central cali in the valley), & a 1.3 bar radiator cap. Did the trick nicely, but super tight fit in the GC/GM chassis.

    Mine done the same thing when I went front mount intercooler. New motor new koyo radiator! Overheating when I do a few pulls then drive slow or stop.
    I put a new cap on the expansion tank it cooled straight away. So it can't be a head gasket. Heads just been Port n polished.

    Phoenix native with a 2011 WRX. Aluminum radiator the way to go! Dropped my temps around 10-15 degrees

    I recently got the koyo rad for my 2017 wrx and my temps sit between 190 and 200 with a couple pulls too in 90 degree heat.
    10/10 would do again.

    • @subarustifan4694

      I recently put a new built motor in. Put a koyrad in and now it overheats if I boot it then come to a stop or slow speed.
      I'm hoping just air in system. I put hose on radiator and it cooled straight away, that shows its not a head gasket.

    My ‘05 Outback XT overheats only after driving it, hard. It doesn’t happen when the engine is running while parked. Cooling system has no leaks, rad caps were replaced, both fans work and Radiator is clean, has good airflow. Any suggestions??

    Thanks for this video! We had this replaced on our 2017 outback 3.6r but only the passenger side radiator fan turns on when we have the AC on and idle. I’ve tried a bunch of different ac settings but none of them make the drivers side fan turn. Is this normal?

    @Cameron Alford,
    I have a Mishimoto performance radiator but kept the OEM fans. I haven't had problems with my radiator, but it runs abour 2 degrees cooler. The OEM fans are all you need, I've heard nothing but complaints with their fans.

    I had to burp my car probably 2-3 times. All from car being completely cold. Try that. Also I have the mishi x line rad and my temps never go over 190.

    • @CameronAlford

    • @peeps_8644
      @peeps_8644 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Cameron Alford try that. Remember heat on full blast. I unplugged the ac compressor so it would quit surging idle. I had so much air that it was “champagning”. So much that the third time, the expansion tank was completely empty after it being overflowing the day before while burping. Let me know how it plays out

    • @Ausblack
      @Ausblack ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Heater controls don't matter in newer cars, they did on old cars which has a valve which would open to allow coolant into the heater core but on newer cars that isn't the case. The heater control just opens flaps in the HVAC system to allow air through the heater core.

    I just bought a 2015 sti today. 73k miles.
    Went to work and drove home on same day i got the car. Then the temps started rising to high at idel. Stopped the car and had my coworker drove me to autozone and got 2 bottles on coolant.
    Checked teh Res and it had about 2" left in it. Dumped the whole bottle in there. Sat for a while,. turn on and saw temps rising after a minute and turn off right away. after 4 -5 hours of sitting at a parking lot of check the temps and refilling, found out the coolant res went dry, down to about 2" again. So theres obviously a leak. I test drove it and teh temp went down to middle. I dont understand why it jumps to high at idel but drops when driving. Any ideals? I noticed that the fans didnt spin when it rises.
