    You have a massive gun collection. I'm impressed. Your knowledge is very helpful.

    Thank you so much for an excellent video. I am fortunate to have the same two PARAs, an original Argentine FM and the DSA FN 50.63. I spent a lot of time with FALs through the '80s and '90s and the DSA FN 50.63 is the best finished FAL I've ever encountered.

    The Para rifles and the standard rifles more or less, have handling qwork's. Nothing extreme, yet manageable. Still, its that gas system and all of those settings. Like a sighting system on an A2 or an M1A, there is alot of room to adjust to the point of taking it off paper with your base load. The gas system on the FAL when adjusted for a base load, you would set it and forget it. Then comes a hunting load you want to try out before Nov. Its bad enough that the sights need re-zero but now the gas needs to be re-set for the load to work the action, and now throw in cold weather! Oy! You can see the head ach I'm getting at. For some, this adventure is fun. Me, if given choice, I'll take a delay roller system or the direct gas impingement system, if I was so inclined for a .308/7.62mm NATO Self Loading Rifle. One less thing to think about. Also, cost in ammo. I was never interested in hunting but, range days and collecting. Not anymore. Economics and Politics, can change habits and recreation, fast.

    Hi Misha Again, I had a Belgium FAL in my hand brand new in 83' at a gun shop in Los Angeles. Bought an HK 91 that day instead. THEN, shot my friends FAL and fell in Luv with it. So, finally in 2005 bought new my DSA 21", paratrooper stock, Browning Flash Hider, waited 6 months for it to show up at the Gun Shop here in Reno, NV. Finally. During the Clinton ban for 10 years you couldn't get one. My favorite of all time. I'll tell you what there's a Big difference between PMC 308 and 1980's Indian 7.62x51. The India ammo is weak. So, adjusted the gas and woola! I bought 400 rnds at the last gun show @ 60c a round. I think the Humpback stock is more handsome though but like my trooper stock very much. Thanks for the Great Video! Also mine is an SA58. nice light cut reciever and bolt carrier.

    DSA has gotten so much better. I have an old LMT/STG58 kit build from them, and a new production 16” jungle warrior para. Bought when they were first released somewhere around 2016ish. I like the new production rifle soooo much more. It’s surprisingly lightweight and balanced, surprisingly light recoil, and fantastic fit and finish. It feels like a modern rifle. Whereas the old kit build feels like an old clunky gun.

    I didn’t know about the adjustable gas system in the FAL until about 2018. No wonder I couldn’t get my Hesse to run back in the day. It may not have run anyway. I understand they’re little better than junk. Anybody got a Hesse.

    You can use the rim on a spent case to adjust your gas regulator if you don’t have a gas wrench.
    Been shooting and building FALs for 40 years. Still one of my favorite 308s
    I like the fixed stock with a 18” barrel, Imbel on Imbel. I like the balance of the rifle with a fixed stock better than the Para stock. The STG is the most accurate barrel, fallowed by the Imbel. The problems they had with the Argie barrels is being concentric, especially if you cut them down and threaded them for a muzzle brake.
    Too bad the cheap kits and receivers are gone, it is a fun hobby.

      Yeah but remember how i said that gas regulator was stuck? It was really, really stuck. Tried a cartridge first, and then even found a bottle opener. No go with either. Once in awhile you just need the exact right tool. With it, the thing broke free immediately. As to those FMAP barrels, yep I remember those. I think that issue was mostly with the later Type IV ones like SARCO had.

      This isn't exactly a para congo. Checkout my previous video for more details on the exact specs.

    Question for anyone who knows: Can the short flash hider on the 21” barrel version be easily replaced with the long flash hider like the L1A1s have? I had a Belgian FAL with a long flash hider I sold years ago and I’ve always regretted it. Those go for $6-7K these days.

    • @misha5670
      @misha5670 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The 'Browning long' flash hider is interchangeable with the short combo device, but your barrel should have the notch for timing. L1A1s though used different flash hiders, even if they may look very similar in pictures; different shape, different bayo lug, and most importantly....different threading.

      @@misha5670 Thank you! I remember the notch and a ring that aligned the bayonet lug when the screw was in place. So it’s not just a plug & play replacement. Might just stay with the short one if I end up investing in a DSA FAL. Great info-much appreciated.

      Yeah, you can go from the long slot type to the short barrel type very easily; but the reverse not so much. Those long ones had issues anyway.

      Well, I ordered a para conversion kit from dsa. Now, I just need a receiver and barrel. 😂
