  • This fall, I spent 3 days backpacking around a remote part of Escalante, Utah during the peak of fall color in the Southwest. The trip was absolutely fantastic, and I got numerous great images to show from the trip. In this video, you’ll get to see the amazing fall color, as well as a behind-the-scenes look at my photography including tips and tricks.

Wow, looks like an awesome trip. I went to all 5 Utah national parks this time last year and it was one of the best photography trips I've ever had.

Hi Austin, Great video and amazing location. The drone footage is mezmerizing. I like all your final picks. Just curious, what lenses did you bring with you on this trip? Also, how big can you print a drone image? Thanks.

I usually bring a 14mm or a 17-28mm (one or the other), and a 28-200mm. The drone images can be printed any size with proper resizing software, I’ve printed as large as 40x60 on a drone shot before but could certainly go bigger.

@@AustinJamesJackson Thank you Austin. Drone image to 40x60"? Wow. What lens to bring for a backpacking trip is a big one. I have the 17-28. I do not own the 28-200 but have shot with it for a few weeks. I think the combo is the lightest possible with the most reach. I am glad we have Tamron as an option for the Sony platform.
