I couldn't resist so I put a 100 gallon stock tank in my basement apartment. I built wooden sidding for it and i put pothos going around it so you can't see the plastic and turned it into a goldfish pond. It's bigger then my bathtub 🤣
Hi Zenzo. Thanks for sharing such a cool DIY pond! Your fish are so vibrant. Would you be so kind as to share the type of food you feed them? I hope you have a great weekend!
Really cool idea! Just one little tidbit, goldfish and koi are both domesticated (different) carp species and definitely can hybridize, I belive the young remain smaller than proper koi but bigger than goldfish. Unsure if they're fertile or not though tbh.
I bought a mini waterfall for my yard just after we bought a standard cement bowl. Since transfering the fish over to the waterfall, they reproduce like crazy because there's more space, constant aeration, and we can use a variety of plants. the bowl we just used a Thai lotus, some suckers, and four of the same fish who do not need too much aeration.
how did you make the connections between the plywoods? or do they just sit there in position and you only drilled the 2 by 4s around it? looking to do a similar setup, I like this simplicity
Looking forward to a pond someday! Waiting until the kids are old enough to not accidentally drown themselves/try to swim in/torture the fish to death 🙂
Leave it to me to ask, but have you had overflows when we have gotten a lot of rain in this area? We haven't had a gob of rain in the past few years, i realize. Love the pond! It's beautiful! take care!
Love the pond, but I gotta level with you a koi should be in a bigger pond. Water parameters aside, larger fish should be able to swim with more mobility. That's just my opinion.
I appreciate your opinion, and had similar concerns early on. However, after I had a chance to speak with Zak Schmidt, I’m comfortable keeping my koi in this setup.

Get in the pond Zenzo!! Love your pond! Very inspirational!
Wow, I love this idea. I'm wondering what your thoughts are on a indoor version with chiclids.
I love this design💯
I was just talking about wanting to build something like this and remember you showing it in previous videos

I was wondering the same thing!
Zenzo should swim with the Koi!
Been diving into koi this week and this is perfectly timed. Great video Zenzo!
Nice DIY patio pond 💪 😎 🤙
Beautiful pond. 👌👍 I would love to make one like that. Maybe in future. For now I guess I will have to make do with just aquariums.

I actually found out about this last week. They can breed together but the offspring would be infertile
Oh, I loved it! Thanks for the idea!

Zen
love your pond and hat ^_^
Great video Zenzo! Real cool man! How do you avoid overflow during the rain season?
How do you handle the rain? Does your pond overflow? Great patio pond Zenzo! Thanks for sharing
Thanks for sharing gives me some good ideas for a future setup I would like to do.
Nice!
What is that giant plant in on the filter?
Bay Area 🏆💯
Eeeeee! I don't suppose you could point out your aquaponics videos? It's one of my goals for next summer.

Love the video, I would love a pond but live in northern Minnesota so gets way too cold in the winter

great video
What do you use the glass aquarium for? I understand why the lava rock box... is the glass aquarium a secondary filter?
I have a daphnia culture living in that tank.
Great video I have a question where do the water over flow too when it rains alot???

I just lower the water level if it gets really high. I wish we’d have more rain. Sadly, it hasn’t really been an issue.
I also have very limited backyard space in SF. Any problems with temperature during the colder SF months?
Lovely
Hmm would love to do this but the winters get too cold in the Midwest for koi I think
same issue here, Northern Minnesota is not practical
It's a huge ja cool zi. Lol. Well maybe idk the water temperature..
How do you heat in winter
I don’t. California winters where I live are mild. Plus, koi and goldfish are fine in the cold.
@@TazawaTanks nice 1 lucky but theres cold and cold just saying koi and goldfish are fine down to 12c
I keep being told you need a minimum 250 gallons per koi.
Love the pond, but I gotta level with you a koi should be in a bigger pond. Water parameters aside, larger fish should be able to swim with more mobility. That's just my opinion.

Beautiful pond. Please don't swim in it! 😂
