    I couldn't resist so I put a 100 gallon stock tank in my basement apartment. I built wooden sidding for it and i put pothos going around it so you can't see the plastic and turned it into a goldfish pond. It's bigger then my bathtub 🤣

    Hi Zenzo. Thanks for sharing such a cool DIY pond! Your fish are so vibrant. Would you be so kind as to share the type of food you feed them? I hope you have a great weekend!

    Beautiful pond. 👌👍 I would love to make one like that. Maybe in future. For now I guess I will have to make do with just aquariums.

    Really cool idea! Just one little tidbit, goldfish and koi are both domesticated (different) carp species and definitely can hybridize, I belive the young remain smaller than proper koi but bigger than goldfish. Unsure if they're fertile or not though tbh.

      I actually found out about this last week. They can breed together but the offspring would be infertile

    I bought a mini waterfall for my yard just after we bought a standard cement bowl. Since transfering the fish over to the waterfall, they reproduce like crazy because there's more space, constant aeration, and we can use a variety of plants. the bowl we just used a Thai lotus, some suckers, and four of the same fish who do not need too much aeration.

    how did you make the connections between the plywoods? or do they just sit there in position and you only drilled the 2 by 4s around it? looking to do a similar setup, I like this simplicity

    Looking forward to a pond someday! Waiting until the kids are old enough to not accidentally drown themselves/try to swim in/torture the fish to death 🙂

  • @CarolynnMc01
    @CarolynnMc01 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Leave it to me to ask, but have you had overflows when we have gotten a lot of rain in this area? We haven't had a gob of rain in the past few years, i realize.
    Love the pond! It's beautiful! take care!

    • @TazawaTanks
      @TazawaTanks  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I just lower the water level if it gets really high. I wish we’d have more rain. Sadly, it hasn’t really been an issue.

    How do you heat in winter

    • @TazawaTanks
      @TazawaTanks  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don’t. California winters where I live are mild. Plus, koi and goldfish are fine in the cold.

    • @glosfishgb6267
      @glosfishgb6267 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TazawaTanks nice 1 lucky but theres cold and cold just saying koi and goldfish are fine down to 12c

    I keep being told you need a minimum 250 gallons per koi.

  • @marksaliba12

    Love the pond, but I gotta level with you a koi should be in a bigger pond. Water parameters aside, larger fish should be able to swim with more mobility. That's just my opinion.

    • @TazawaTanks
      @TazawaTanks  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I appreciate your opinion, and had similar concerns early on. However, after I had a chance to speak with Zak Schmidt, I’m comfortable keeping my koi in this setup.
