YES! Medaka's ! I have 8 container ponds with 7 different strains. You'll love Lame' (metallic/Glitter scales) Medaka Japanese Ricefish. Tri-color Lame' (la may) looks like little koi's. When the sun hits your ricefish they really are amazing! You'll be hooked.

Awesome! You may wish to point out in future videos to check your state laws on some of those plants--water hyacinth, salvinia, etc. may be illegal due to its ability to spread in the wild and choke out native species.

How are you preventing the goldfish from getting caught in the pump? Maybe a video of how you set up the pump would be helpful. I am looking to get into aquaponics and need to see something clearer on the pump situation.

Hi! Just a question regarding their tolerance for heat. I’m also in the NE, and we get some pretty hot stretches (for weeks) in the summer. Would they be able to survive those hot days? We have plenty of shade around our above ground 100 gal pond, but just worry about fluctuations. Thank you!
@@speedymarie3594 with that size, the fish should be able to go low enough to avoid high temps near the surface, more floating plants and artificial cover can help too. You should be fine with most "outdoor" fish
that is a great eb and flow water bed so the only ting about this setup is that the growing container, with the clay pellets could probably be about 4x bigger. atm you might have some nitrate issues (cause the tiny fish) but after they get bigger that one tank can provide nutrients for a very large planted bed, like 4x4 sq ft, basically one ft per gold fish I've had great luck with kale in aquaponics, and basil! Go crazy with the herbs they will do awesome! Also green onions and chives are good, as long as the seeds don't wash out into your tank. can't wait to see the update in a few weeks :D great work
p.s. in my bed im growing strawberries, basil, kale, thyme, green onions (from bottom cuts after eating) and i'm trying a zuchinni but idk if it's working out well, they don't seem to like the stem being wet.

Rice fish look amazing in outdoor ponds! My puppy has decided to pull out every plant or spawning mop from all my ponds this year so hopefully you have better luck outdoor breeding.
Let the roots decide on their where to go. Starting with younger plants are usually better and make sure to cut the roots down so they aren't clumped up and grow into wherever they need to. Some of those roots will probably rot since you clumped them up but with a bit of luck microbes might eat through the dead plant matter quickly enough. The pond is outdoors so microbes will find their way in there if it's all dechlorinated.
That in my backyard is called a Raccoon Buffet. The fish cant get away. Just bones all around. It was a horrible sight for my 4 year old daughter wanting to see the fishies. So all we got now is a plant holder. Don't put water in it so no mosquitos.

@@AQUAPROSnot all zucchini cultivars have tendrils to “climb” or attach themselves to structures, you may need to assist them with twine, clips, Velcro gardening tape, and etc if yours doesn’t have those tendrils. I have two small water gardens/ponds, I repurposed big planters without drainage holes, one is 18 gallons and the other is 10-12 gallons and each has 5 rose gold minnow fish. And I’m struggling the most with keeping my pump from clogging (hornwort seaweed shedding) and finding good alternatives for pots and layouts that can fit small ponds, everything takes too much space… In the small pond I have a creeping Jenny and baby prince tut potted, and several salvinia minima, one water lettuce and one water hyacinth. In the bigger pond I have a water Lily potted in a canvas bag, one mojito calocasia, one dwarf papyrus and one creeping Jenny potted, and parrot feather, aside the other same floating plants and the other one. Should I aim for adding soil/sand to the bottom of the pond and plant directly? Should I DIY my own canvas bags? Also I have started several lotus seeds, they seem to be ready to plant now, so I’m ready to experiment with them! Thanks

Miyuki platinum blue is only variant right now.
