So glad you listened, and especially glad you listened to the end. This really is who they are. Good guys that focus their energy on art and on working collaboratively. You won't see anyone hogging the spotlight or off on an ego trip. They focus on the art. For a little more madcap view - their latest, Lion Sleeps Tonight, or Drunken Sailor are wonderful fun. They will have you laughing again.
Scott Porter was their original beatboxer, then left to become a successful Hollywood actor. I am very old and not a gamer. I have learned so much from reactors about the community that grows in gaming. Thanx for watching it all.
This is one of the many reasons I'm a huge fan of Voiceplay. They are absolutely genuine guys and care a lot about their friends, family and fans. Including reactors as well. Their behind the scenes videos on their and Geoff's Patreons are amazing. They let their hair down and go all out into their goofy selves. Fun tidbit... The group Chicago invited Voiceplay to sing live on stage WITH them Nov 17th and 18th in Atlantic City NJ. Chicago had other artists there as well. At the end of both nights all artists and Chicago sang together. There are videos of the concerts on TH-cam. Easiest to find on Huldra Draco channel. Huldra is a top tier patron and huge long time fan that keeps everyone updated on Voiceplay, Geoff and some of their collaborators. Mostly Omar Cardona, J None, Ashley Diane and Rachel Potter. She also has a bunch of very informative and interesting videos about Voiceplay and each member past and present. I learned a lot from her.
The legend himself who wrote this theme did a live reaction to this in an interview and loved the cover mlre than his own masterpiece and you could just see the excitment in his face.
They have done some other gaming songs - Dragonborn (Skyrim), Valhalla Calling (Assassin's creed) etc... However, their genre range is wide and fantastic and you are in for a ride!! As you could see here, they are also ace human beings. 🌹🕊
The Charismatic Voice did a reaction to this one WITH Marty O'Donnell himself. I really recommend you watching that to see what he felt about this video, it was so great to watch! No need to react to it, but just watching it for yourself 🙂
They really like throwing in a dupstep section in quite a few songs as well as many other changes and additions. It's not uncommon for them to branch off into a different new section at some point. They say they will not do a cover unless they can make it their own and bring something to it no-one else has.
This one never fails to give me CHILLS! I LOVED your reaction! Not only am I a gamer, I am myself an acapella singer too, and these guys are the BEST out there...their creativity is simply unmatched and they do it all themselves! Sorry Home Free, PTX and Bass Gang, I love you all too, but none of them hold a candle to these guys.
That was one of the best reactions I've seen to this video so much fun glad you listened to the end too. I know nothing about these sort of games but if you liked this you might also like Dragonborne Comes from Elder Scrolls. Also going back a lot further they did a medley of video games which is great. Everything they do is great though & they're all my favourites!! Also you can see a cameo by Rek in their Boy Bands in 5 Minutes video.
I never played Halo but my husband did. This is one of my favorites from the fantastic music to the tribute. Welcome to the VP Players and the deep rabbit hole we all fell into.
I enjoyed your reaction to Voiceplay. They are great musicians and IMO great people too. Caring and creative, a wonderful combination. If you are into gaming I suggest checking out their version of Dragonborn and Vahalla Calling.
Thank you so much for a priceless reaction to Voice Play. Please do a reaction video to Voice Plays cover of.. Creep.. it will bring tears to your eyes. Voice Play knows how to reach deep down into your soul.
I always love seeing when people **get** VoicePlay. This is such a great video to start getting to know the guys- really seeing the kind of people they, beyond the music. It's one of the (many) things I love about this group, that they are willing to share these things with us, and let us see them as they really are. They are genuinely kind and lovely people, who don't take themselves too seriously, and just love to make music.
Thanks for watching the tribute at the end. If you want to see Rik making a camio then you'll need to check out Boy Bands in 5 Minutes. Its so fun watching people getting excited and remembering good times from the past. 😊
I’ve been a fan of Voice Play for a few years and they are truly a special group of guys! They are multi-talented. I am not a gamer and never knew about Halo, but I was totally in awe the first time I saw this video (and still think it’s other-worldly). Anything you pick from their channel is magnificent!
You're so right. Gaming can really bring people together. It's not "a waste of time" like our parents claimed. It taught us to bond, to work together, to accept defeats and share in the joy of victories. VoicePlay honored Rek in such an astounding way, the way Rek would have wanted: with music. Especially Geoff hitting his very first B0 note. Thanks for listening to the end. I can't wait to see more from you. Peace!
Welcome to the VoicePlay family! You need to check out their cover of Dragonborn Comes. They also did Valhalla Calling, also got props from the composer on that one too
Thank you for reacting to this one! I'm not a gamer, but still can appreciate how they tackled this 'instrumental' piece - the bit they added with the 'Red Team/Blue Team' probably referred to those two, as Scott was their original beatboxer, and Layne took over when he left (after being taught how to beatbox initially by Geoff!) Loved that you stayed till the end, yes - it got me as well! You can see Rek in a cameo appearance in their 'Boy Bands In 5 Minutes', as the guy who hands a sub roll to one of their other former members, Earl...!
glad you doing VoicePlay as said on your Hellfire I put a few more songs they also did Loin Sleeps Tonight long ago But they also did My Mother Told Me and Valhalla Calling. They had a few member's that have left like J. None because he was went into the navy but when has leave he always ft on a few of them. Earl left because he had a health scared also Tony but him and Layne who does the Vocal percussion owns a company called PattyCake Productions. The big 3 everyone does is VoicePlay, Home Free and Pentatonix. But there are a few more like Voctave, Bass Gang are the only 2 I can think at the moment. .
45 seconds into the video, not even out of the introductions yet and I've already subbed because of the vibe I get. Been a Voiceplay listener for a while now, a reaction connoisseur of sorts lol, and really enjoyed your reaction. It's always fun to watch someone get their dose of everyone's talent and go down that rabbit hole.
Even for people that were grown already, Halo was a whole new experience, a new way to connect. Loved your reaction to this!! Thanks for showing these artists such love! ❤
I'm so glad you're enjoying voiceplay. They do it all. If you want to hear Geoff falsetto you need to listen to if I were a rich man. But really just go with your mood for the day and they will have something for you
Bro!!!! You mentioned the Grunt voice!!! Very few have caught that. I threw that in there hoping deep fans would know it. Thanks for watching, and thanks for honoring the end as well.
DUDE!! The Scott Porter?! Thank you so much for watching and for the incredible cover!! Right off the bat, I could tell you guys have an insanely deep connection and appreciation for Halo so this was an absolute treat! And LOL! Thank you for confirming!! You just gave me flashbacks to grunts flailing around after sticking them with plasma nades 😭 Much love again man! Hope to see more of your stuff soon! Keep crushing it! 🥳
Thanks for showing us your enthusiasm and very real emotion to this one. So enjoying your channel and looking forward to more. You're right - it wasn't just a game!
Great reaction. As others have said, watch Charismatic Voice reaction with the song writer. Also watch Mortius’ reaction as he has similar feelings to the game as you and got very emotional. I’m looking forward to more Voiceplay! I have a feeling Nothing Else Matters, Valhalla Calling, Seven Nation Army and many others will blow you away.
Great reaction. I am not into games but I find that I really like the music that they compose for them. And it’s always great fun to watch somebody who is a devout gamer react to their game seems. Your excitement is contagious! I have to laugh when Scott Porter (who was the original beatboxer) and Layne Stein (who is the current beatboxer) have the little mini duel with red team / blue team and Layne slaps a blue grenade(?) on Scott. Of course Layne made it so he won.😂 If you are a gamer, they have quite a few covers that might interest you. In addition to others mentioned, they’ve also done the following that I’m aware of: We’re Alive from the game Portal, Warriors (originally covered by Imagine Dragons) for League of Legends, a Minecraft mini which is only about a minute long, My Mother Told Me which was used in the game Assassin‘s Creed as well as the television program the Vikings. They also have done Valhalla Calling, also associated with Assassin’s Creed. It is mind blowing. A long, long time ago they did one of their ACA Top 10’s where they do snippets of 10 songs and they did video game themes. I am not a gamer, but the music is amazing. Thank you for letting it run all the way through. Every time I watch it I’m reduced to tears. I’m so impressed that they would make this video even more special by dedicating it to Rek. I’ve watched a few reactions by reactor to served in the military and they were pretty choked up by the end. I don’t understand the gaming community but total respect.
You just witnessed Geoff Castellucci’s infamous B0. B-frickin’-zero! At the time it was supposedly the lowest note ever sung on TH-cam. I think some folks have beat that record, tho, and I’m not entirely sure it was ever really the lowest since at least one Tim Storms video has been on TH-cam for years and years. But still, B0 is hella low, and we should all be amazed. Great reaction! Now do Dragonborn from Skyrim!!
I believe he did briefly hit an A0 in one of the videos (think it was in 'Enemy'..?) In 'Valhalla Calling' he hit a B0 3 times - one held for a stupidly long time, and had heard that he needed 5 days to recover after recording that!
@@raycardy4843 I think you’re right. Also, Tim Storms’ world record lowest note isn’t on TH-cam (that I know of) and it’s actually so low that only a meter picks it up, so we wouldn’t hear it anyway.
@@lkayh it isn't really about how low someone is capable of going, but with Geoff's voice, he's able to produce such a RICH, full, wonderful deep notes, and does so very consistently. There's a lot of really good bass singers out there, and I enjoy them, but nothing compares to Geoff's unique sound.
So tickled you loved this and happy you found something fun today. I have never played video games but I can just totally appreciate this for the music and background info.

It just feels so fitting that he reached for such depths for this song when you consider the song's dedication. Edit: This song had double the percussion has Scott was the group's original beatboxer. That's also why he and Layne took the Red vs Blue section (and why I think Layne ultimately won). In that section, they do the sound effects for the other's vocal section and that's just SO cool!
