Another great reaction guys. I always recommend people check out the Charismatic Voice reaction to this song. She's joined by the original composer. It's very interesting. Also, Scott (guest on this song) is the original beatboxer for Voiceplay.
Great reaction. Some fun facts: Scott Porter was the original beatboxer in the group before he decided to leave to pursue acting. When he left, Layne stepped into the role and had has absolutely slayed. When this video dropped, the Halo TH-cam account commented with one word “Legendary”. The original composer has reacted to this and loved it.
I should add, that unbelievable low note from Geoff was a B0 (same as an open B on a 5-string bass). Until their cover of "Enemy" recently, it was Geoff's lowest recorded note.
Scott Porter was an original member of VP before he left for his acting career (Friday Night Lights, etc.). He was the original beat-boxer and Layne took over that role when Scott left. Geoff, Scott, and Layne were all together in middle-school choir. Can you imagine?
Gotta say thanks for listening to the end. I was fortunate enough to know Rek and he was incredible. Gave the biggest and best hugs and was an amazing person. Sitting here with tears in my eyes and a grin on my face. I've spent many hours playing Halo and seeing Rek in addition to the fun Halo memories just really got me today. .... keep up the awesome reactions.
Thank you so much for the reaction and watching to the end. Geoff's all time lowest recorded note, Scott, beatboxing duet... they absolutely killed this cover.
Not sure how you feel about reacting to other reactors, but the charismatic voice did a reaction to this with the composer of the music Marty O'Donnell it is really good
I saw this and was like, "WHAT TOOK YOU SO LONG?" as a long time Halo and Destiny fan....this was an awesome treat. I kinda wish Bungie would have included this in their 30th Anniversary montage last year. The ad was great. I do have a guitar a friend gifted to me years ago and I would love to check out their classes.
The one doing the chanting is Cesar de la Rosa and the bald one is Eli Jacobson and the percussionist is Layne Stein. You already know Geoff Castellucci the bass. They are the core of Voiceplay now. This was a touching dedication to their fallen friend: very powerful and moving. Awesome!!!
I believe this was Geoff's first production recording of him hitting a B0. Almost off the end of the keyboard. They all did a great job on this. Good to see Scott Porter again too. Great reaction guys!
Great job guys! Totally recommend watching the reaction from the charismatic voice as she does it with the original composer and its so cool learning inside info
I never played Halo, but I have seen this since I’m a fan of Voice Play. It is absolutely phenomenal! They did an outstanding video here! Love hearing about some of the aspects of the game from you two. Voice Play is amazing. I think you reacted to their video of “Just Sing” with the montage of guest appearances in the video. Scott Porter was one of the guests in the video. He’s done quite a bit of acting, and voice acting for animated movies, etc. Super talented guy! I could watch this video over and over. Love it!
Great reaction, as always, fellas. Some interesting stuff to note: Scott Porter is also an actor, and a pretty good one IMO. He's been in, most recently so far as I know, Lucifer where he plays a detective who is the love interest of the forensic scientist in the show. Another point of interest is the whole "Red Team/Blue Team" thing was done between Lane and Scott...Scott who was, until his decision to leave the group, Voice Play's beatboxer. So it could be seen as one last "showdown" between the two vocal percussionists of the group, with Lane coming out on top in the end. The last thing of note, from me at least, is the note Geoff hits in the last of his super low notes in this piece. He got down to a B0 in this recording and has, in later recordings and in live performances, hit as low as an A0. That is, quite literally, off the keyboard by an entire octave. Impressive, to say the least.
I recommend you to watch the reaction of The Charismatic Voice with the composer of the original soundtrack. It's so informational. A great reaction as well. You don't have to react to it. It's just for background information. Have fun and please keep grinding. You're great 😃
There is an interview/reaction with the original composer of this, where he gave his view on Voiceplay's cover. It's on the Charismatic Voice's TH-cam channel.
I subscribed a while back when you were doing some VoicePlay. Then you weren't and I missed you guys. Good to see you with Halo here! The Charismatic Voice did a reaction/analysis of VPs Halo. Her special guest is Marty O'Donnell who is the composer of the Halo theme. It was fun to watch them take on VPs version.
I am not a gamer, but I do like a lot of the music from the games. Great reaction. I recently watched another reactor reviewing this piece and learned something new. During the editing, if someone’s voice is more forward, and sometimes it’s pretty subtle, their face is the one that Layne brought to the front when editing. There’s a couple of spots where it’s a little more obvious than others, especially when Geoff and Lane are the voices and Cesar, of course, when he’s doing that warbling cry. No detail too picky for these guys. Just a fun little fact. At the end when Geoff does that low note, and then goes even lower, he hits a B0. I don’t know a lot about music but I do know that that’s the second to the last white key on a piano keyboard. He momentarily hit one note lower than that in Enemy but it’s not as obvious because it’s pretty quick. After hearing this, I went out to listen to the original music because it is very powerful. There is a playlist out there with all of the music broken into components that you might enjoy listening to. One more fun little fact that I heard from a commenter. Those Nikes were one pair out of 200 that Microsoft commissioned to have made because of the game. I believe they belong to Scott. So I don’t think you can go get a pair. Sorry.
Sweetwater is a great company! I remember Tim Faust mentioned when Quarantine hit Home Free all bought the same Mics from them to record from their homes!
Great reaction, guys!! This arrangement was Layne's (beatboxer). Voiceplay does all the work themselves, so Layne did all the video editing as well. I am not a gamer, so have learned about the sense of community from this piece and from several reactors, now including you! Scott's outro shows the character of the members of Voiceplay. They are obviously insanely talented and creative, but also true friends and genuinely nice people. Even Cesar, the newest member, has been drawn into the circle of friendship and family that is Voiceplay. Thanx for reacting to this one!! I always here for Voiceplay and Geoff!
2x E1-B0 sub mixed with B1 chest for volume (idk term for it) Elis G5 (highest note i heard from eli) around 11:52 Cesars overtones 11:48 Laynes vocal percussion This group is insane
Little tidbit... That stomp with the Mike was done by Geoff song William. They got him to stop once while Geoff recorded it. Then he ran off lol. Still great reaction as always.
I know you've asked before how Geoff does it, so something different would be to react to his low voice tutorials. He has done 2 parts of questions of his technique. Part 1 discusses his methods for low notes, and part 2 more of his range. At the end, that's one of the B0s. You can glimpse Rek in Boy Bands in 5 minutes. While the guys are getting warm around a glowing trash can, Rek comes by and gives Earl a sub sandwich. Did you like Scott's T-shirt after the performance?
Nice Beard Matt, Chris i see yours is comin' back too. That is Geoff's B 0 note, his lowest note to date.....lol......If you haven't seen their cover of the song Just Sing, it is a collaboration of EVERYONE they have worked with at the time...... check it out, watch the subtitles, to see who they are......lol
Thank you for another great reaction to Voice Play. Please do a reaction video of Voice Plays cover of ( Dream On ) originally by Aerosmith. Voice Play is a force to be reckoned with. Cesar, the one with the big hair is the one that hits the high note at the end.
Ok.. TH-cam - I am not impressed. When I started u the video I clicked the like. At the end just before I sign off I double checked. Good thing cause it was deselected. Will not be a happy lady if I finish writing this and it's gone again. Love you guys.

Yup was also going to mention The Charismatic Voice. Really great breakdown with the original composer, who loved it.

Holy crap! You remembered VP! Gotta live that solid B0 from our man Geoff!
I should add, that unbelievable low note from Geoff was a B0 (same as an open B on a 5-string bass). Until their cover of "Enemy" recently, it was Geoff's lowest recorded note.
What’s great is that the composer/performer of the original song reacted to this cover and 100% co-signed on it.
Where can I find this?

Thanks for listening through the outro.

Hello 👋 How are you doing today?
Scott Porter came back along with all the other former VoicePlay members in a fundraiser video that they did a while ago, Just Sing.

The low note is a B0, his lowest ever in a recording. Also, your faces up through that first pause were epic haha.
