The voices you hear aren't ghosts. It's you recalling memories from your past. There were supposed to be memory voices at Arthur's grave too, but that caused quite a number of players to get spooked then commit suicide by jumping off the rockface.

I was depressed for two days after Arthur died, it was like a member of my family died
I finished the main story three days ago and the epilogue two days ago. I am still in deep thoughts, cried myself to sleep the same night as I finished the story, I didn't react more then being teary as I finished it, it came later, several hours after as I wrote, I don't know what to do with myself right now, I have even lost interest in any other activites I do besides gaming, even feel like not wanting to eat

They didn't really have much of a choice story wise for the sequel because then they'd have to hunt down Arthur and Arthur isn't mentioned in the first game. I'd personally love to see a remastered Red Dead Redemption 1.

Absolutely! I despise the Micah character, but every video of the voice actor I’ve seen indicates he’s a super nice guy in real life. That’s true talent- to elicit such a reaction out of thousands upon thousands of fans.

Same. I'm just gonna say this. Im really happy about the ending I got. Through the entire game I kept seeing the wolf. And the wolf represents the devil or just evil or bad. And at the ending I got the stag Ending along with the sunset mountain. And the Stag represents the good and ' heaven '.
So in the end, I feel like that it really says much. And how all of his (well, part of his life but whatever) life he was haunted or driven or surrounded by evil and how in the end he finally found peace. And that part really made me cry ngl
Honestly, this was the first game that ever made me cry and it's probably the best one I ever played.

ever since i started seeing the black wolf in arthurs visions I started going high honor because it really felt like all the dark things were the wolf and it symbolized my death. As it got closer and closer I started thinking more and more about my actions playing as him, which led me to play for high honor. Rockstar just did an amazing job with this game.
My Favorite rockstar character will always be Arthur Morgan he's story was perfect

They have to make a prequel when Arthur was a young man and joining up with Dutch and Hosea and just leaving Mary for the first time so much history to be told Arthur Morgan was the best character in gaming history.

watching Arthur deteriorate was heart breaking. And then, seeing him on that cliff, fighting for words, it really broke me. Arthur seemed like a family member to me. When he was sort of recounting his life, saying “I tried in the end” I was sobbing. I believe the wolf in the end scene was representing Arthur crossing over into the afterlife, hence the reason it’s slowly walking away. Arthur really was a Wolf. He was strong willed and always kept the battle going. Rest In Peace, Arthur. 🥺

I like the good ending when Arthur crawled to see the sun rise before he died, and after that seeing the deer (his spiritual animal) with (what I think) a happy face telling that he gets what he wants, a death with he's redemption by helping Morgan having a opportunity to live happy. (I drop many man tear in that moment)

After he died, i finished the game and then stopped for over a year. IT hit me harder then the Hughes death in FMA, now on my second play through I have modded the game so Arthur can go anywhere in the game.

I had maxed out honor, so my Arthur died watching the sun rise over the mountains. Was a grown man, I cried. What an incredible game and what an experience... And when I returned as John, a bald eagle was perched above where he died and flew away. It was beautiful and I feel even more lucky knowing that it was truly random that it was there for me...

Arthur's moment of death did not really strike me sad as we know it's going to happen when the doctor told him he got TB. But there was one touching moment quite early after he knew he got TB when at a train station he met a nun he helped before and he confessed to her that he was afraid. The nun told him how he was a good guy and should not be afraid. That was the moment when ninjas were cutting onions.
I guess I liked Arthur more than most players. I came back here before John even got his guns back.

Uhm when I completed the game and went with John on the cliff that's not how Arthur died, for me, Arthur caught Micha and Micha and Dutch ran off, and Arthur sat against a cliff wall, and died there, no one shot him or anything, he just died quietly and sadly

If you pause and go to photo mode while fighting Micah, you can’t see Dutch just standing around the corner from where he came from
As I stood on the cliff as John, the slow, haunting whistling came up with no music. That along with the sound of the wind, and the sun far off and glowing in the storm clouds and it was was a long, melancholy moment. There was even a deer on a distant cliff, reminding me of Arthur's recurring dream of the buck as he became more and more sick. Maybe just good coincidental timing for the soundtrack and all the other things, but even if so, the whole thing was perfect.
Around the corner of the the end of the path, just beyond the little lower ledge where Arthur likely died at, was a faint rainbow stretching down into the valley below. Again, perhaps just a quirk of timing for the atmospherics, but still, perfect.
I'm glad I went back as John.

I somehow hadn't heard that interaction where Arthur describes how he wants his grave (Hosea's is so sad too) and it's so touching and makes my heart break all over again. It's just great that they all were honored the way they wanted.
I really wish more dedications/throwbacks to characters and past events had been added in the epilogue; definitely more dialogue, like have John react/say something at Arthur's grave, have more faint ghostly dialogue at different areas, maybe flashbacks, etc. It would've truly added more impact. Just feels wrong otherwise, when he doesn't react at all; maybe hearing John's inner thoughts (as opposed to him saying stuff aloud) would've added so much more.
This was the saddest mission of my entire gaming life. Idk how much I cried.
I think the spot where Arthur Morgan dragged himself to and watched the sunrise while dying during the ‘good’ ending is marked by pinkish coloured rock, just over the crest to the east of where he fought Micah, same way Dutch the Rat bailed. The spot is next to an alcove. Beautiful view. What a game! I shed quite a few tears during the final 2-3 missions, so many emotional moments but when he stayed with his horse while it died, jeezus :’(

Seriously, I am going to miss Arthur whenever I finish the story. All those poor innocent Horse riding NPCs we killed because I wanted their horses, the times I killed Arthur hurtling full speed on horseback off cliffs...
You could've just got off your horse, pointed a gun at them, and used "Call out" like I did
I think for u Arthur had low honor when he died cuz it had the coyote and it was stormy and all. I came upon a different outcome. (Of course because of my high efforts to keep good honor.) Arthur still had the brawl with Micah but Micah didn't shoot him, he just ran away. Arthur ended up crawling to the cliff wall, leaning on it, and dying. Btw, it was a sunny and heroic ending, and the cinematics were great. A funny thing, I hit the button to record the whole thing, and it only recorded 28 seconds. 😂

Any ending is canon, its the players choice.

That's interesting. In my story Arthur died more or less peacefully. In the end Micah didn't shoot Arthur, he just basically growled and scurried away like the rat he is. Then Arthur crawled and sat up against a rock and watched the sun.. then past a assume. Made me cry... Almost >_>

You thought he'd never be like that, the only good outcome that his tuberculosis had on him was that it gave him more of a realistic and actual idea of what he does and has done. That it wasn't right, what he said about Rains Falls in his diary proves this to be true, I forgot the exact quote. So here's to the best of my ability, but you get the idea.

I myself went back as John and upon teaching the area where Arthur died (at least for me) there was an eagle that flies away my guess being this pays homage to Arthur if you had high honor same as his grave
