Awesome video. One comment is that it would be great to see towing tests with full size (ie tall) trailers. As someone who tows a travel trailer, towing a low trailer with low center of gravity is VERY different in terms of sway and it terms of highway towing (wind resistance). Sway is an important point and it would be great to know how well the air suspension helps eliminate sway - if at all. Finally, does air suspension eliminate the need for a WDH? - thank you!
I’ve tried multiple times, and again tonight. That VIN lookup tool on their site has never worked for me. I’ve taken pictures of the vin (multiple locations on the truck) and made sure they matched and that I was typing the right thing. - The other thing that I really didn’t like is the PDF that you can get from RAM’s site. It’s supposed to list the towing capabilities of the trucks. Well, if you follow that sheet and find the truck that you are testing in the video. A 4x4, crew cab, 5’.7” bed - with the 5.7 with torque, for the 3.21 ratio is 8120 lbs / for the 3.92 ratio is 11,220 lbs. - This is hugely misleading! The sheet doesn’t say anything about different trims.
For those that are ranting about towing and payload, if this truck wasn't an offroad-spec and did not have the air suspension, it would have at least 1400lb payload and 10k pounds of towing. The only reason the payloads and towing are so low is because Ram offers many options unavailable in the class(Rambox, air suspension, etc).
IMO, probably a strategy to encourage buyers to go to 2500 & 3500 series trucks to get the higher payload. As the 1500 category now has more buyers who buy trucks for non "work" related purposes. The buyers who buy trucks for work will have to go to higher series trucks.

Idk if you still respond on older videos but i have a 2020 limited and wanted to look up my towing and payload but the look up my vehicle option isnt on the ram website any more any other way to figure it out
Yeah the payload thing is weird. I have the same category of truck ('15 F-150) and it's payload is over 2000lbs. Just strange that such a similar vehicle is so different in a situation that is so common for truck ownership, and like you said it's not like it feels overloaded just the rating they gave it. When may it become problematic or turn into a safety situation?
Ram rides the best and has the nicest interior BY FAR...... I've driven all three. Ford probably has the most power and torque. I'm not sure what Chevy has that's best.
Yikes. 94k. The compromise on payload and towing isn't worth the luxurious amenities. Get a 2500 or 3500 if you want high trim. My well spec'd bighorn is rocking 1400lbs and that's as pathetically low as I'll go. That aside, happy ram owner here!
Even if I were going to use it as an “Arkansas Cadillac “, I would still want decent capacity in the vehicle. Less than 1,000 lbs. CCC and only 7K lbs. towing are terrible in this day and age. If a loaded up Ridgeline can haul 1,500 lbs., so should Ram. I want to be able to have a couple guys and their stuff in the cab while still putting half a ton in the bed. Lots of very nice mid size and light duty full size trucks will do that, so I’d purchase one of those. This particular Ram is more of a sculpture than a truck. I pass. Great video, Guys!
That interior is just too gaudy. This is for the guy who worries what other people think of him. I would rather get a standard cab long bed 3/4 ton for around $40,000 that will haul and tow a bunch more. Don't see any advantage of that tailgate. I can see that thing not working worth a crap once you do a little damage, but of course most people who buy this aren't actually going to use it to haul much more than a few bags of groceries.
The only valid point you had was the weird tailgate. But hey if a guy wants it then awesome. Standard cab is worthless unless your a guy with no girlfriend, no kids, and no buddies. I’ve been there. Took me years to be able to afford a nice truck with 4 doors. To each their own though

That information is inaccurate. I have a 21 limited with the 3.92 axel ratio and my towing capacity is 12,750 pounds and I have a payload of 2100 pounds and I’ve put about that into my bed and it worked perfectly fine no sagging

The midsize trucks (Ford Ranger, Toyota Hilux, Nissan Navarra, Isuzu D-MAX etc.) out here in europe have payload of around 1000kg (2200 lbs). So I think you get ripped off.
Love Rams but the Limited payload numbers are kind of dismal given its price and how capable it looks! So less than 1,000 lbs payload for this model. If four 250lb guys are on board and heading to the jobsite, technically a handful of 4x8 sheets of lumber in the bed too is putting this over the payload limit? That seems crazy for something like this.

@@DanBCooper I have a wife and I don't need an entire back seat for her. She can ride in the front with me. Every point I made was valid for me. I need a truck that I can use to work with not use as a car. If that's what you need then go get one. I can go somewhere with my best friend also. I don't need to haul around four other guys.
That information is inaccurate. I have a 21 limited with the 3.92 axel ratio and my towing capacity is 12,750 pounds and I have a payload of 2100 pounds and I’ve put about that into my bed and it worked perfectly fine no sagging
This truck had 3.21s, hence the low towing. As for payload, if your door sticker says 2100 lbs, that's a great truck.
would not get air susspension if it fails mega bucks to fix.i will stick to regular susspension.and air suspension and really cold weather like we get in canada no thanks
Ram❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤#1
She's so Purty!
Nicee 😎... My dream truck 😍
Or the TRX 🤣
The midsize trucks (Ford Ranger, Toyota Hilux, Nissan Navarra, Isuzu D-MAX etc.) out here in europe have payload of around 1000kg (2200 lbs). So I think you get ripped off.
im getting a longhorn
Love Rams but the Limited payload numbers are kind of dismal given its price and how capable it looks! So less than 1,000 lbs payload for this model. If four 250lb guys are on board and heading to the jobsite, technically a handful of 4x8 sheets of lumber in the bed too is putting this over the payload limit? That seems crazy for something like this.
we agree
Ram 973 special edition ..... now featuring 973 lbs of payload .... yee dogie
Just remember when trucks start creeping over $100 thousand dollars Canadian you will be paying another 10% luxury tax . Plus your regular taxes and fees. Coming soon in 2022 .And to note if you lease the vehicle the government wants that 10% down payment first before weekly or monthly payments start.😉
All true - you have to wonder where people's limit is?
@@TruckKing yup, plus it doesn’t help when manufacturers loves to push and advertise their high end stuff.when average Joe’s and jane’s can’t afford it, and still pay for housing, medical bills, insurance and food.Dealership also needs to stop ordering high end vehicles unto there lots and get the ones people can actually afford and high end is order only. Just like they did 50 years ago.Your Dad (Howard) would agree with me.
Nice truck but anybody who would pay over 45k needs to go pack sand . what are these corporations thinking REALLY?!!!!!!!

Cam failure at 30000 miles due to oil starvation at idle. No not worth it. Also Scotty says they are poorly made. Had a 2006 no engine problems, headers and Intake . Smoking the tires was easy. Transmission was not good. Windshield weird made me seasick just driving.
Well if Scotty says so…
You must be mistaken it's a Ram not a Ford.. these new Rams tied with the tundra for the best in reliability ..quit living in the past..🤣
1st of all Scotty is very bias when it comes to reliability in American car brands so he only supports Toyota only 2nd is that your comment is not even near relative to this video. Saying that you had problems from a 2006 truck and saying that this new truck is going to have problems is just brand bashing.
@@RAM-KINGOFTRUCKS The new rams aren’t tied with Toyota for reliability. They’re light years ahead of where they were a short while ago but they’re not in the same ballpark as Toyota when it comes to reliability
@@pajamatime5750 consumer reports says different 😁
Etorque is junk stay with old fashioned alternator my Etorque went out 22,000 miles not only back order for 3 to 6 months but highly expensive to replace. Just a thought to think of when spending that extra money for Etorque.
Your warranty ran out?
A regular middle class guy or girl can’t afford it I’ve owned a 2006 since new and I would not buy a new truck ever again because the truck is worn out before you’re finished paying for Don’t care how many options you put on it still way over priced
No reason to buy this when you can get trx
Uhh, lots of reasons actually depending on personal wants or needs.
@@ALMX5DP if you want crap that will fail all over the place after warranty sure, I prefer hardware over gadgets
@@mblake0420 uh, TRX is essentially the same truck, so similar philosophy applies to what you initially said.
@@ALMX5DP not the same truck, same body with less junk, underneath completely different hardware.
@@mblake0420 what “junk” are you specifically referring to that you are so concerned about?
