I am a christened Roman Catholic, turned Agnostic at a young age, who will soon take his Shahada, as I believe Allah SWT is the center of creation and I adore Islam and it's teachings, as well as the unseen levels of brotherhood and sisterhood of within.
As much of respect and admiration as I have for mr. Mohammed Hijab, I must adress one thing which I'm not fond of. His facial expressions, most of the time while listening to other side of the table, are those of arrogance (in a lack of a better word, because English is not my 1st language). It seems he doesn't listen with open heart and open mind, even though he is a philosopher and more importatnly, a prominent muslim. He smirks all the time and I hope I'm not the only one who sees it. He knows he is right, I know he is right and most of you know he is right, but that doesn't mean he should look upon others in that particular way. I understand he must be tired of all of these debates with non-believers, sometimes fatigue can get the better out of a person and I wish no harm to him by these words of mine.
If I'm wrong here, in the name of Allah SWT, please correct me as I failed to know better at the moment of writing this comment.
Peace and love brothers and sisters.

I swear to God ever since I realised the reality of life I always constantly remind me that we are so blessed to be Muslims. I know for sure one super good man in my lineage would have converted from Hinduism to Muslim in South India ---- Imagine the blessings this soul must be getting.... May Allah raise this person who brought us to the right path.... I believe we would have converted anywhere between 400-500 years back.... Alhamdullillah Islam is the right thing to have anywhere we live.

As a South African who has served on very similar MSA committees I must say this was gearing up to be flawless and got completely unnecessarily interfered with by the uncle in the end. That was such poor form and uncalled for. The chair of the debate interjected when he really should not have either and when you invite speakers of such magnitude and who are known for being dynamic, what do you expect? I don't know why I was so bothered by this I am posting a comment. A bit disappointed honestly. I am an engineer/computer scientist, and have been practicing Islam for nearly 10 years now. I am not philosophically trained, nor religiously trained, and my knowledge is primarily from TH-cam lectures and/or books. Despite that, I could find so many problematic and inconsistent statements with the atheists' positions. I expected more, I wanted to be challenged.
Indeed, if we build walls of intellectualism upon foundations of truth, these walls would be unshakably and firmly grounded on all fronts. And walls of intellectualism built upon falsehood will always end in collapse. Alhamdulillah for Islam.

The challenge is knowing that the opposition to the truth always have the same mechanical behaviour. It is just like reciting quran getting to the ayah of satan telling his feelings, or hearing about the wrong doers, then come the next week or the next month or the next year (depending upon how much time it takes to complete reading the quran) and hearing the same phrase of satan telling us his feelings or hearing about the wrong doers. So much so it becomes like periods of the moon or heavenly bodies. The deniers arguments being so predictable.

Same. What we saw here was a respectful display from atheists, which is uncommon from past debates like with krauss, aron ra or wood, and that is why atheists struggle. It s because when the atheist doesnt play semantics or attack with ad homs, his position becomes painfully obviously as an emotional dogmatist..

The point MH was making was simple and they knew they were stuck. As an atheist you have no basis of morality, so when you choose to make an assessment on it, you have to at least show were your basis is. MH was saying..since you won't make it clear, your statement seems to be based off a system that is infallible and morally proven to cause more damage in the lifespan of it's activity. Where as we (Muslims) have had a guide on moral truths from creation, and then reaffirmed through our final prophet. How dare he then pass judgement from a vacuum or even a currpt system while then hiding your hands saying he wasn't there to tell where his actual source of morality stemmed from

*What is meant by heaven and hell?*
Ibn al-Qayyim (may Allah have mercy on him) said:
As a matter of fact, Paradise is not a word that refers only to trees, fruits, food, drink, hoor al-‘een, rivers and palaces.👉 *Most people are mistaken when they think that Paradise is limited to that, for Paradise is a name for the abode of perfect and absolute bliss, and one of the greatest joys of Paradise will be the pleasure of gazing upon the noble Countenance of Allah and hearing His words, and the delight of being close to Him and attaining His pleasure. There can be no comparison between the physical pleasures in Paradise - such as food, drink, clothing and images - and that pleasure.Attaining the least divine pleasure is greater than Paradise and all that it contains,* as Allah, may He be exalted, says 👉 (interpretation of the meaning): *“But the good pleasure of Allah is greater still” [at-Tawbah 9:72].* In other words, no matter the extent to which Allah is pleased with His slave, even if it is small, *it is still greater than Paradise.*
In the *saheeh hadith* about seeing Allah, it says: *“… and Allah will not give them anything that is dearer to them than gazing upon His Countenance.”* According to another hadith: “When He, may He be glorified, manifests Himself to them and they see His Countenance with their own eyes, *they will forget all the bliss that they had been enjoying,* and will become oblivious to that joy and will pay no attention to it.”
Undoubtedly, this is how it is, And the matter is much greater than one could think or imagine, especially when the lovers there find themselves with the one whom they love, for a person will be with the one whom he loves. What bliss, delight, joy or triumph could come close to the joy, pleasure and tranquillity of being with Allah? Is there anything superior to the pleasure and joy of being close to the Beloved, for there is nothing greater than Him, or more perfect, or more beautiful, and nothing could give greater comfort and happiness?
This - by Allah - is the type of knowledge that the lovers are striving hard to attain, and is the banner around which all those who have knowledge of Allah rally. It is the most important thing in Paradise, through which Paradise becomes a place of joy, and the life of Paradise is based on that.
So how can it be said that one should not worship Allah for the sake of attaining Paradise or for fear of Hell?
👉 *Similarly, Hell* - may Allah protect us from it - is a place where its dwellers will suffer a great deal when they are partitioned away from Allah and suffer disgrace, divine wrath and anger, and being far away from Him. That will be worse than the flames of fire in their bodies and souls. In fact, the flames of this fire in their hearts is what led to the flames burning their bodies, for those flames spread everywhere in their bodies from their hearts.
The aspiration of the Prophets and Messengers, the siddeeqs (the strong and true in faith), the martyrs and the righteous is Paradise, and what they seek to flee from is Hell.
And Allah is the source of strength, and in Him we put our trust. There is no power and no strength except with Allah; Allah is sufficient for us, and He is the best disposer of affairs.

The reason being, because if this was actualized in an actual world through an infinite amount of multi verses, that would imply that the inexhaustable has been exhausted.
What exactly is he referring to when he means the inexhaustable and in what sense has it been exhausted? This example for why an inifinite chain is an absurd proposition is not quite clear to me. Would be really greatful if someone understood this and could help me out.
