- Just a little bit of fun :) The 736 and 2035 go head to head in a race against time to see who can pull the fastest!

This was incredible to watch again! This never gets old Bonk! 💯👍😎
That was fun and well done! It kinda makes sense too; with the models mirroring the prototypes. One was built for speed and lighter trains, one for power and heavier trains.
There aren’t many videos I would watch twice, but this is on my watch again list. Those announcers were brilliant!
Thanks! I tried to channel my inner nascar
That was great fun, "Blew its face off!" 🤣 hilarious!
Dude, finally something better than NASCAR and fishing. Now, if we can just get them sponsored. I can almost hear the sped up. You announcing the sponsors, it would be hilarious. Thank you. I enjoyed this immensely.
That was great. Fun, lighthearted and entertaining!!! Exactly what this hobby should be. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for watching
That was the best, awesome ,fantastic do it again do it again! Excellent idea.
Lmbol! That was Great, thanks! I love to laugh and I like Lionel Trains. Your video was definitely a win, win situation for me all the way, lol.
I really enjoyed the sports style video. Neat to see the underdog win! It's like the original Rocky. I want to see an F3 vs an FM Trainmaster.
That was way fun! Never looked at it that way. Not stupid. FUN!
Good! I’ll be doing one for diesels soon
Uh, 2037 is an Adriatic with magnetraction, no? Well done, Bonk! Really fun.
Hey Bonk - nothing here is stupid. That was fun! Magnetraction - the great equalizer.
It was entertaining.... do it with F3s 49 verses 53s both Santa Fe and NY.
Regards Frank from Oz.....
A blast to watch!
Just found your channel and love the 'race' do more. To be serious it was interesting how the smaller O-27 loco beat the far larger one do more!
Stupid? Fun? Nope, it was stupidly fun. Waiting for the sequel!
Thanks for watching
you do very good work mate, Really enjoyed this and your other vids. The history lessons on these locos is much appreciated too. Steven,
Nicely done! Quite an entertaining video!
You should check out the Gumby episode "Train Trouble"; that features a Lionel 2035 steam locomotive, but it's animated on Kusan's 2-rail O-scale track (as they figured it looked more realistic than Lionel's 3-rail track of the time). Same with the "Davey and Goliath" episode "All Alone".
The 2035 is underappreciated in the postwar world. They are great pullers and have all of the premium features: smoke, whistle, Magnatraction, and full valve gear. They are usually less costly than the larger boilered 646/736 steamers. I like to run mine with the streamlined tender and streamlined O27 passenger cars. They are proportioned just right and look great together.
agreed. it is a classic!! i was glad to see it did so well against the mighty turbine ;) thanks for watching
My issue with the 2035 is the engine trailing truck. I have a 675, and I like the look much better.
@@cliffordkiehl3959 I agree that the trailing truck on the 675/2025 is more attractive but it's a small price to pay for Magnetraction. LOL
@@greglivo Agree, my layout is all one level and the 4 steam engines I have are all non-magnetraction, the 675, a 726, a 671, and a 1615.
I love both of them. I have to get me a 675 someday
Interesting video, fun to watch. Love my 2035, definitely one of my best running locomotives.
That was a lot of fun. As kids, we used to drag race Lionel vs American Flyer.
How about 736 vs 681?
Good idea!
I'd say more fun than stupid. More please. I love my 2035 which straight up murdered my poor little 2026 on pulling, but I'm not at all sure about a no-load speed run. Thanks for the video.
Thanks. This one came out of nowhere and it became something I didn’t expect! Thanks for watching
Just subscribed. What a great presentation here. Iam a lionel operator too.
Thanks for watching!!
I would like to see more competitions like this to show performance an capability!
one coming on diesels as soon as i get a few more out! thanks for watching!
I paid for the whole seat but I only needed the edge
This was really fun!
Thanks!
This was hilarious haha and interesting
Great Video!!😊
Fun stuff ! Yet does illustrate performance.
Some folks take this hobby too seriously. Turns people off. That's bad for the hobby and therefore bad for the business. Please continue the fun.
Will do!
Good stuff! I like racing trains.
Thanks for watching! I had a lot of fun making it.
you should do a contest Between the old 736 berkshire and the newer conventional berkshire. My 2035 was passed down to me from my father and it is my favorite loco I have a about 8 or 9 locos and the 2035 is my favorite!!!
What is the diameter of your curves? The tighter the curves, the slower a train will go. How many volts were you drawing per train?
Do you have any insight on the 671 Electronic Remote. I was given a complete set including the controller. I think it was purchased in 1947? Any insight would be appreciated.
This from the postwar lionel library: “671R with Electronic Control - Produced from 1946 - 1949, this is a special locomotive included with the infamous Electronic Control Set. It has a unique feature in that the operator was able to operate or uncouple any of the trains in the Electronic Control Set anywhere on the track, at any point in time! Pretty impressive for the late 1940s! Standard features of this turbine include: Electronic Control unit, three position E-unit (with a lever protruding from the top of the shell), smoke element, plain drive wheels and a single drive rod plus a headlight. The pilot and trailing trucks were always die-cast. It came with a whistling tender, numbered either 4424W or 4671W.”
@@cmcgloughlin thanks for the info. Have a good weekend.
Both engines should have been cleaned and lubricated prior to the start of the races. If there was an actual voltage drop at some point on the layout, it should have been corrected also.
It was great !!!!!!
Thanks for watching :)
Love this very cool and love the commentary but most of all if you had fun doing this than it was worth it just saying
I did have fun. Thanks for watching :)
It was a good video
Do you have the Century Club version of the 736 to compare to its postwar counterpart? Ive been curious about the weight differences etc.
A 2037 is also an "Adriatic" (2-6-4) with Magne-Traction.
The 736 has more pulling power but each engine has own greatness both are great .
Epic.
Do it AGAIN ! MORE !!!
The magna traction, and both of these locomotives may have diminished over the years just do to age not anything that anyone did
THAT HIGH PITCH VOICE IS VERY ANNOYING. GET RID OF IT!!!!!
I AGREE !!!!
