    I work for Sally's and the Olaplex bonding repair is patented and therefore the active ingredient (and the one most responsible for the difference in cost) is missing from the Bondbar line. Bondbar cannot form covalent bonds like Olaplex to repair disulfide linkages and instead works like spackle and attempts to fill in the gaps of these missing bonds with product. Hence the heaviness of the product. Covalent bonds cannot be broken by water so Olaplex will also maintain results longer than Bondbar even if there is a similarity in performance.

      Oh please. I’ve worked at Sally’s and the vast majority of the associates don’t know what they’re talking about in regards to products. You’re not professionals. Also, your entire rambling comment is you talking out your ass.

      I compared the ingredients of the no.3 for each and yeah, bondbar has Most of the same ingredients, but specifically not bis-aminopropyl diglycol dimaleate, which is the Olaplex ingredient.
      What bondbar does have that Olaplex does not, is two ingredients: Hydroxypropylammonium Gluconate and Hydroxypropylgluconamide.
      If you google those, you get something called "fiberHance" which apparently is a patented bond-building technology that uses those ingredients. I haven't found anything explaining or proving that it actually does what it says, but that's what bondbar is using 🤷

    The bonding ingredient is
    IydroxypropyI Gluconamide and/or Hydroxypropyl Ammonium Gluconate. Which is called "FiberHance bm" by it's manufacturer.
    If you Google that, many documents from the manufacturer say it" works by
    creating additional hydrogen and ionic bonds within the hair keratin".
    So that hydrogen bonding is done by all the acid based products (Redkin, L'Oreal, etc), which is not the disulfide bonds that K18 and Olaplex claim to repair.
    Hydrogen bonds are easily broken and will mostly break next time you wash your hair, while disulfide bonds are very hard to break and usually only break from harsh chemical treatments like bleaching, chemical straightening, etc.
    So if this product works, it will - until your next wash - make your hair stronger and less prone to damage. So long term, your hair will stay in better condition but if you have chemical damage, I'd look at Olaplex or K18.

    You're right, shampoo is definitely a personal preference because I tried Pureology Strength Cure shampoo that you're always recommending and it dried my hair out. I didn't even remember to consider the fact that I don't have an oily scalp and my hair leans more towards dry. Good thing I just bought the travel sizes! lol However, it can stil come in handy on those rare occasions when I have a lot of product build up.

    I believe bondbar might be more targeted for afro or curly hair. The fact that the woman chosen to advertise this product is black is good sign of that. Plus sally is super loved and well known for products to take care of afro hair. That's why you might have not liked the shampoo in the first place.

      Honestly thank you for saying that , I work at Sally’s and I can’t count how many times I get screamed at by people who are looking for certain products that we don’t carry and or at my store we don’t have , we have been trying our best to get more products for textured hair at my store but people don’t care they still scream at you ! And I’m not talking about just arguing with you full blown screaming in my face over not being able to find products I get it’s frustrating but they don’t understand it from our end we don’t have control over it that’s all up to corporate

    So this product line seems to be using fiberHance (Hydroxypropylammonium Gluconate and Hydroxypropylgluconamide) which you mentioned is also in Bumble&Bumble. I guess this would be good for someone who wanted to try that product but didn’t want to spend the money. The only studies on fiberBond are from the manufacturer and it’s not really well known either so I’m not sure if I’m sold. It’s also in one of the shampoos I use so I’m not going to rush out and buy it.

      It looks like you did your research! I googled each ingredient and found the same result. It turns out other brands use the same ingredients, such as Aveda, Bumble & Bumble, Curlsmith and Xmondo. If multiple companies are willing to use such ingredients and put their reputation on the line, it must be doing something good.

    I have medium length hair with layers that was razor cut over a year ago with several lightening and color processings. My hair is low porosity and I'd say normal when it comes to density. I also have Hashimoto's Hypothyroidism which can cause hair loss and excess breakage. Naturally wavy (type 2a/2b) but I flat iron every day and have for 10+ years. I also blow dry my hair every time I wash, which is roughly one a week but sometimes twice. I have tried Olaplex, it worked, but there is definitely a huge price tag. I snagged Bond Bar the very first day it released and have been using it off and on since. I immediately noticed a difference with the very first use. My hair was less frizzy, extremely soft and manageable, and it "looked" less damaged. My favorite is a tie between the pre shampoo and the styling cream. The pre shampoo, I found, works best if you give yourself a spa like day at home. I spritz my hair down with a water bottle and apply the pre shampoo then put a processing cap on my head. During this time I usually catch up on cleaning, do self care, or watch TV, etc. A few hours later, when ready to shower, follow up with the remaining products. I have also tried the pre shampoo as the instructions suggest. This line is phenomenal in my opinion and a little bit of product goes a long way. Even though the instructions say to be generous, I feel as if that could be why some results are causing excessive unwanted oiliness. I have also tried using each product on their own with other brands of products. (Example: pre shampoo then use a different shampoo, conditioner, and leave in. Etc.) I noticed the biggest improvement when using the entire line together. I'm a huge fan and will continue to use this line as it has tamed frizz, prevented breakage, and made my hair more manageable. Overall, even if Olaplex has different bonding ingredients and strengthens bonds in a different way, Bond Bar is my personal winner because I noticed more of a positive difference.

    The shampoo is intended to be gentle because it's meant for people with extremely damaged hair, in which case you don't want to strip out oils etc. It's not a regular shampoo.

    I think I'll stick with Olaplex, except for the number 6. I love 6 but rarely use it due to how thick (and dense) it is. Seeing that Sally's 6 is lighter weight and 1/3 of the price, I'm going to have to check it out. Thanks for the review, Abby. You're truly the best.

    My hair was cotton candy. After first use of just the shampoo and conditioner myhair was 90 percent better. SHINY and manageable. I didn't use the leave in lotion but I will purchase and try. As I said, my hair was like cotton candy, breakage and falling out. I like it so far. Now if it repairs rather than mask the problem, that will be a plus.

    I have bright, vibrant coloured hair. I have spent the past 2 years destroying it with multiple bleachings and colour changes. I tried the Olaplex line last year and while it helped, it was too pricey for me to use on a regular basis for the amount of product. When I started seeing videos for K18, I sucked it up and bought it. OMG! It made such a drastic difference in the condition of my hair! I'm on my second bottle. Then Brad Mondo came out with his XMondo Recalibrate line(not just the shampoo and conditioner). So, now, between that and the K18 prep shampoo and treatment every 3rd or 4th wash, my hair is in SO much better shape! I'm currently on a 1 year bleach free journey, taking monthly pics of growth progress and refreshing the colour itself every other month or so. Next bleaching won't happen until July of next year. I won't be trying this, as I'm happy with what I'm using, but I do so look forward to all of your hair videos(not so much the makeup, since I don't wear any) and the skin care videos. Keep up the amazing work!!! 💜💙💚

    I'll stick with my Olaplex 3 & 8 until they stop working for me.
    I shampoo weekly, and use one or the other on my first shampoo each month. If my ends feel really damaged, I'll use #3 as a pre treatment (leaving it on wet hair for an hour or so), otherwise I'll use #8 instead of regular conditioner. That's enough bond building to make my hair look great.
    i don't bother with the rest of the range.
    "Bond building" seems to be the latest trend phrase in hair care company marketing departments ... anything and everything is being labeled "builds bonds", even when it's clear they don't understand the process. It's getting as bad as "hair hydration".

    I tried bond bar yesterday. I have 3b 3c hair so I absolutely loved olplex #6 it was amazing in my hair. I also used the 0 and 3 and after only two treatments everyone saw a difference in my hair (thicker stronger smoother). I bought the 3 4 and 5 from bond bar and I would not adv using that to detangle if your hair is more “textured” like myself. Bond bar was alright for only $30. I probably won’t get the 6 if it’s lighter than olaplex #6 becuz tbh I did not like the #7 as it was too light. It would be better suited for a straighter lighter texture of hair

    • @ViolinJ9876543
      @ViolinJ9876543 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Also a big reason why I prefer olaplex #6 to bondbar leave in. Olaplex #6 is does an amazing job blowing out textured hair as it has silicone in it. Bondbar does NOT contain silicone and the product literally say NOTHING about being a heat protectant so I probably will never use that.

      Another side note… again my first time using bondbar was yesterday 😂😂 but using the 5(conditioner) I had to follow up with my redken all soft mega because my hair did feel as soft as it should after a wash. Another side note… after using the 3 as a pre poo on dirty hair, I did my first shampoo with Paul Mitchell clarifying tea tree shampoo because I wash 2-4x a month so I always shampoo TWICE

    I bought the treatment you mix with your bleach and it works wonders, I bleach my hair twice ( within two weeks time ) and used with 40 developer ( don’t recommend unless you start with very healthy hair ) and my hair didn’t fry or break , is a little dry from my second bleach but I’m planning on using weekly bonding treatments combined with moisturizer masks .

Leaves hair so soft and all Bond Bar products do smell better than the Oplex brand. I also noticed the Bond Bar is thicker than the Oplex. Honestly if you are starting off with hair that has zero damage, then you may not notice major results.🤷‍♀️ I can go 5-7 days before washing again, as I don't have oily hair. I have 2A hair type.

    I'm on the end of the first month of "the Abbey method" (revised). I'm still kind of sorting through which products work for me and which ones don't, how often do I want to use the Elizavecca, etc. And a big one, which product scents do *not* play well together. 😅 But even with all that, the basic routine for me (overnight oil, protein treatment, micellar shampoo, low pH moisturizing shampoo, conditioner, hair mask) is definitely working. After just 4 washes (once weekly), I no longer lose an entire hamster of hair in the shower. I used to go almost 2 weeks without washing, but now I do have to wash weekly; I'm assuming this is because my hair isn't as dry! In the new year, I should be getting a pay bump and will try adding K18. The breakage I am still noticing is exactly at the point where my colored/bleached/recolored hair meets my natural color, which is pretty telling.

    I personally really like Curl Smith's Bond Curl Rehab Salve (I think that's the name but if not it's their one bonding treatment that's in their purple "strength" line) it does repair the protein chains to the same level that olaplex or k18 do but it's relatively affordable and my hair always feels really nice afterward. I will use olaplex after I get my hair bleached since I have sick dark hair and it takes a lot to get it to lighten but I save the more expensive products for when my hair really needs it

    Would love to hear your thoughts on drugstore dry shampoo recalls this past year because tons have been recalled in the last year and especially recently. This is partially why I don't trust drugstore hair care. 🙅‍♀️There's pretty much 3 companies that make *everything* : Unilever, Church & Dwight, and Procter & Gamble...and when there's an ingredient like benzene found in something, it's usually found in lots and lots of brands at the drugstore. Batiste, Dove, Tresseme, Nexxus, Bed head, not your mother's, Kristin Ess, Pantene, Herbal essences. Amika sent me an email this week reassuring customers that in light of most dry shampoo found to be containing benzene, theirs does not (allegedly).

      If this is like the issue with sunscreens, it's likely an issue with a filter or some contaminate coming from the supply chain materials used in manufacturing that's universal.

      @Lexi Jones Because mistreating your hair and scalp gets expensive, especially if you have long and/or curly hair. I have long curly hair and it dries out and breaks with too much washing. your experience with the shampoo making your hair oily is so weird to me because i also have oily hair and it worked just fine for me. after using the entire system, it made my hair so light, clean and very soft. i'm thinking, just like the olaplex shampoo, bond bar's shampoo is also highly concentrated? meaning you don't need to use as much as you did for it to be effective

    • @Hairfan
      @Hairfan ปีที่แล้ว

      Citric acid is not the active ingredient in Bondbar. Hydroxypropylammonium Gluconate and Hydroxypropylgluconamide used together are the bond builders in the Bondbar line. You will find them in every product.

    Wow! I worked at Sallys when Olaplex came out. They tried so hard to say their Ion steps were like Olaplex. Definitely not. To think they refused to sell Olaplex to make their own products that do not work as well. :(

    • @mayraortiz3479
      @mayraortiz3479 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'd like to disagree. I, on separate occasions, have tested both ion and ola for triple processing, and the ion always felt smoother, more conditioned and left the hair shinier. Ion had an oily quality that did wonderful things to the lightener and gave a really smooth application. Ola left my clients hair rough and hard to detangle after the lifting process. I have not tried this bond bar product yet, but if I do get similar results as ola, why wouldn't I want to save money. I think im going to give it a shot before showing my bias for "dupes".

    • @StarPanda7
      @StarPanda7 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @Mayra Ortiz oh wow that surpises me. Ion is bad on my hair and my families hair I do. Also my extensions. Olaplex does way better. Wonder if it depends on hair texture and type.

    • @mayraortiz3479

    I've been using BondBar for a few days and I must say that #6, the Bonding Cream is horrible. I used a small amount as directed and it feels so heavy and greasy. I don't like it. I kinda regret buying this. I don't have a lot of experience with bonding products. I bought this because I'm not sure what I did, it could've been a number of things, but my bangs completely BROKE OFF!!! I've been a mess about it. So when I saw this at Sally's I thought it might help. So far, I am disappointed. :( I really wanted to like it but, nope. Oh, and I really hate how my hair feels when I rinse the conditioner off, it feels stringy, not moist.
