You know it's hot in Pakistan when they're pulling apart a Caterpillar engine outside, and not in the shop. Us as Americans have to wear the fancy $300 boots the mechanics gloves, etc., These guys are out there with flip flops on, and they're kicking ass!! GREAT MECHANICS!!! Respect from 🇺🇲 !!

This is not how I imagined the CAT Diesel engine rebuild center would look.
They could probably do that with their eyes closed, and have all the torque specs memorized by heart. I have to give them credit. Not to mention it's probably 110ﾟand they're working in direct sunlight...

I am always amazed at how industrious these guys are that overhaul these engines. No power tools, just hand tools and patience. YOU GO GUYS !
Amazing mechanics, just imagine if they had some modern tools, a shop would be a big help.
The amount of improvisation these guys do. It's an inspiration.
Primitive surroundings and tool's to us is an average workday for their skill! R&R is OK but their machinist has really good equipment and skills.

Думаю предыдущий ремонт этого двигателя они делали месяц назад. На следующую капиталку они записали его через месяц

Как же они любят , мотор на земле перебирать . Тряпочкой , с песочком , масляные каналы промывать . Я понимаю , что это всё не от хорошей жизни. Но верстак , сварить то можно.
поверьте у нас точно так же любят заниматься половой жизнью, и на заводах при наличии верстака люди любят все делать на полу. сложное не объяснимое явление.
Смотрел и думал об этом. Есть ещё пара мыслей которые не стану озвучивать чтобы не обидеть ни кого. Но если в двух словах, то не ужели настолько бедная страна что нельзя сварит верстаки и нормальные сьёмники? Побелка в стране закончилась? Цех в котором коленвал шлифовали тёмный, одна лампочка и стены "чёрные"... Но каким то невероятным образом у них всё получается и всё работает.

I really admire how they manage to do things without specialised tools, it can be quite impressive! "OK, we're going to need the gear puller to get this crank pulley off" Oh, you mean the welding torch, scaffolding poles and sledgehammers? Coming right up boss.
It's much easier when you don't care about the environmental impact of your work or the effects of your sledge-hammer blows on the longevity of the engine.
I saw the OSHA and the EPA reps hanging out in the CHI shop, ,, but no where close,
I also noticed the workers are all wearing safety thongs

Такой новый 6-ти цилиндровый дизель от Cat будет стоить дороже чем жизни даже 5 таких смугленьких ремонтничков...
В этой химии ничего страшного нет , щёлочь гидрооксид натрия и ПАВ лаурит натрия ( содержится в шампуни ) . Максимум кожа слезет , местами . И волосы будут шелковистыми .

They use the old trick from my father. When working in the sand, never cover up the connections for the injector lines! The sand will cover and protect them. Good job!0

На конусе сидит. Прикипел. Никакой съемник не возьмет. Просто сразу надо было нагреть.
I used to wash parts with solvent with no gloves, like these guys.my skinn to this day is damaged esp during winter months & had cancer issues later in my life, i did enjoy machine shop work with hot tanks & the work was fun love the smell of grease to this day

Мотрист такой деловой на стуле сидит, ему всё подают как стоматолог, но когда они стали трубой коренные шейки тянуть я чуть с дивана не упал.
Мне тоже в голову пришло что моторист считает себя высокий по чину а тот запчасти подвал ровно и брежно
Так в Союзе и тянули коренные , и головы , и я тянул в своё время . У кого тогда в гаражах были динамометрические . Один раз где-нибудь раздобудешь его , затянешь трубой , динамометрическим проверишь , так несколько раз , в итоге подбираешь определённую трубу и руки запоминают усилия и в каком месте за трубу браться . Всё бегает потом без проблем .
@@Human-iu2wp да, на тех движках что союз делал этот номер проходил, сейчас без "динамы" затянешь кпп, так последний поршень или клина даст или масложер начнется

@@kirillshevchenkooo прикол в том что на видео точили коленвал для 4-х цилиндр. движка, а у них 6-и. Думаю что после такого снятия шкива там получился прогиб

i'm no mechanic, but I was watching an American guy rebuilding an engine.
He said you shouldn't even lay a lay a crank down in the floor. Seems it will want to sag.
It should stand vertically, or better yet hang vertically.
These precision parts are made in places like America. Americans understand it better.
@@toms641 I'm a heavy duty diesel engine specialist for a rather large manufacturer and the whole "don't lay your parts down or they'll warp! Store them vertically!" Is all a load of crap. They tell you that you have to face the wrist pin snap rings up or down only, I tear engines down with them all different directions from the factory and I've never seen them come off from being installed this way. I lay assembled pistons on their sides and I've never seen it bend the rod. I've laid cranks down and I've never seen any ill effects from it. In this country we get so wrapped up in the theoretical BS that engineers shove in our faces that we forget how tough these parts have to be to withstand what they're subjected to in an engine for years.
Most of these rebuilt engines won't survive a month brother, they just rebuilt it again and fails again

There’s no excuse. You can’t say they can’t afford it. To rebuild a cat engine costs thousands, to use work benches and work on clean floors cost nothing in comparison

They didn't rebuild it I watched closely the just cleaned up the parts turned the crank is all they did really
It's always healthy to have some sand in the engine.

Far more interesting watching these truck engine rebuilds than elsewhere in the world, US /Europe ect. These guys have basic hand tools yet they get the job done. Excellent engineering work.
The only thing IMHO
they should have done is washed the engine down before dissaaembly.

While everyone else is admiring these guys for making do with rudimentary tools... I'm shaking my head at how they just dump the used oil and coolant and other fluids right in their workspace and just keep slogging through that slop every day without batting an eyelash. I mean as creative as these mechs appear to be, doesn't seem too far fetched they'd come up with a way to keep their workplace clean. It's not just unsightly, it's totally unhealthy, not just for them, but others too because when it rains all that oil seeped into the ground is going to run off somewhere. If you're gonna show a "pride in work" video, then have some pride in your work and keep your workspace clean.

Под вкладыши фольгу надо было им положить
Вкладышы новые, если вас смутило что они их мыли - поясняю, их отмывали от консерванта.

I thought for once they're on a paved road/lot/ally but then I realize it's just so much oil soaked in the ground that it only looks paved.
Just look at all that safety equipment ! Sandles glasses. Head gear. Gloves steel tipped shoes. Dirt floor smoking. Near gas cleaning fluid but they get it done ! With what they have to work with !

Yeah, they're poisoning the ground water for the whole area. There used to be a machine shop about two miles from my house, 50 years ago that dumped solvents into a pit. The city wells are still filtering out solvents from the groundwater. Cost about $2 million to install the filters, plus $200,000 a year for fresh filters. It does not pay in the long run to dump solvents into your water supply. Shortsighted!
