Hey Matt and Tim! Used this technique for reeling over the top of boulders and caught some smallies shooting out to grab it on Lake Michigan! Awesome! Thank you guys for all that you do!
that's so ironic you posted about the Swing Head, I'm just now getting into the swing head thing, i got my PB on a Z Craw !! Thank you so much Matt and Tim !! 🙌🙌🙏🙏
Swing heads are tied on almost all year long. I catch a ton of fish on them every year. My favorite bait is a Big Bite Bait Fighting Frog. Thank you for all your great videos.
I started fishing this technique and it has become hands down my favorite way to catch them in the summer. But I’ll throw that hula grub on it on those hot days
Pivot and Adrenal Craw enroute. Just topped PB with 11lb+ 27.5". Now resetting for teener. They are out there I just need to learn how to catch them. Big and Slow. Junebug plays well here in VA, Dark Junebug and Purple Shadow. "Fast moving bottom contact."
Thanks for the video. When you explain what rod you use and sometimes reels. Can you tell us what action it is? Some of the rods we do not understand the numbers you are calling off. Like example, Megabass XX...What is that in action term.. Thanks!
I agree that the adrenaline craw is one of the best for it. If you haven't, give the Deps BM-Hog, there is no other bait like it. It has an aggressive kick from the tails, but the way it's hinged makes the entire rear kick up and down. I view it and the adrenaline craw is option 1A and 1B. It's a really good big football jig trailer too. The Nories Front Flapper is a really good one too. The Megabass P5 BMG is the best swing head rod I've used to date, great tip and power for days. Also on the heads that you can put your choice of hook, the Rygui LT offset hook is the best I've found so far for it. In all honesty it may very well be the best wide gap hook I've found to date. It's a wide gap that has a longer throat, hence the LT, and has more bite or clearance between the line tie and hook point. It's essentially the hook that Owner modeled their Haymaker after.
So it’s official I buy too much tackle. I’ve never fished this technique. I watched this video and went to my boat and found this exact set up. Thanks for teaching me I have an addiction.
For me it was the third or fourth time I stocked up on some stuff for a technique or a few packs of a paddle tail swimbait I hadn’t thrown and then found a plastic sack full of the exact same stuff I bought a couple months earlier 😂
I found out about the shaky head a few years ago when I really started getting into throwing plastics, I used to pretty much only throw spinners and crankbaits but the last few years since I got into kayak fishing I've really started throwing plastics and man its a game changer. I tend to do pretty well with the shaky head but I keep thinking I can't throw it on sandy bottoms but I'll have to give the reel pop since i mostly have sandy bottoms near me
I throw the "little brother" of yours for Wobble Heads. Levante Braillist paired to the 13 Fishing Concept C2 (a reel you guys really turned me on to).
Matt, thank you so much for these videos. I fished a big bass tournament last weekend and gave this a try and let me tell you what, it cut a check for me and I’m happy.
I used to bend my hooks out on the premade heads, but now I’ve started to buy heads where I can add my own hook and I use the Owner Haymaker, I just trust it more
That hybrid hook is legit, it replaced most of my O'shaughnessy style worm hooks. When it comes to ewg hooks, the Ryugi LT has the hook point above the line tie and a slightly longer throat for better rigging and more durability. I haven't found one better. It's the hook Owner got the idea for the haymaker from.
I make my own swing head I also make them with a hook for a Swimbaits. Here at Kentucky lake they will kill that Swimbait bouncing along the bottom on a swing head also 💯💯💯💯
Awe! A day too late for me! I'm in a tournament on the Potomac and wish I had grabbed my craws before I left. I'll probably ask a few guys for some and give it a try.
It doesn't "hunt" as well, but I use the Tokyo as a sub in a few small ponds that I fish. They have muddy bottoms and I feel my wobble head gets lost in the muck.
Since you mentioned the gamakatsu superline ewg’s I’ve been using them for Texas rigs and can’t catch 2 fish without the point bending out. Not sure what the deal is there but not ideal 🤷🏼♂️
Biggest bass I've ever caught was on a Biffle Bug and a Hardhead. Swinging jigs can be an incredible way catch fish, it's just too bad they're really hard to fish in the lakes in my area.
With the same bait and weedless is it smart to use top water natural colors or a little both? im in Michigan went out n used gold rush jerkbait absolutely crushed it
Arrived at the local N. Texas area lake ramp for a full day of fishing only to find it's been barricaded / closed due to flooding. Sucks. I'm glad the lake is full but the daily multi inch rain events in the last 2 weeks has been ridiculous !
@@richardbossman9875 I hear ya man. Too much rain is better than none. DFW gets massive rain compared to the hill country, but we also have freakin tornados and hail twice a week for 2-3 months every spring. I'm way past burned out on the hail bs. Can't just "rain". Everytime its SEVERE
Matt I notice when you say you catch you giant on this technique the clip always goes to a giant largee , how do you feel about this for smallys an do you feel the same way about the June bug color for smallmouth ?
Works fine for smallies. Use those gamakatsu heads with a 2/0 or 3/0 hook. I've caught smallies on junebug baits in 10'+ vis, not my go to color but situationally I'll use it.
Yup, my entire bottom is the slime type bottom. I still have a few of these in my box waiting for the days/times I’ll go to another fishery and I want to look for fish quickly and figure out what the bottom is like.
I have a stupid question If we order tackle from TW do we tell them that we got the info from Tactical Bassin ? If so how do we do that if we don’t call it in? Thanks
It is a strike king structure swing head, same head as their Denny Brauer structure jigs. I was wondering if he was gonna talk about them, I've used the jigs not the jig heads. Problem I have with all of them is most companies charge 7-10 bucks for a 2 pack of lead heads, tungeston even more and I hang those things up all the time in my lakes, probably why the do-it mold is always sold out. Even if you don't lose them it's hard to replace the hooks which get dull quick bangin around rocks and the heads look like crap too. It works but for those reasons it's a frustrating technique. I rember buying every size Biffle head and then going through that box one time and throwing them all away because I needed to gentrify my tacklebox and they were stinking up the block.....end rant
Has any one ever tried pitching or flipping one,if u could dial that in along with the bottom contact,ya just go down bank hit anything that comes up,off shore, points, docks, rock, just go fish it where ever.if anybodies tried that please post,I would like ta hear.thx
2 things 1. Why do you choose this over a football jig, and have you tried the swinging football jigs? 2. What is your theory on the junebug catching bigger fish and natural colors catching numbers?
1) This IS a swinging football jig 👍 And the reason we throw it over a traditional jig, is to cover water more quickly. If we knew exactly where fish were, a traditional jig would be in the rotation. 2) I truly can't explain this phenomenon, but we've seen it for so many years that we just accept its truth and catch fish accordingly.
Doubt it matters much, I usually keep them around 3 ft because I don't like the knot going through my guides. I'll keep using that same leader until I can barely retie lol
Fishing barefoot...just can't do it. My toes retract like a turtle's head into its shell just by watching. I'm gonna have nightmares with jerkbait trebels stuck all over my feet!!
Too bad at the tune of this video being shot, it’s not “late spring/early summer” 😂 it’s full blown summer bud. That timeline only lasts maybe a week, then 80degree+ for months to come

Swing jig my go to and 100% confidence all year long. Got my PB on it. My favorite bait is Strike King Rage Bug in blue craw or junebug.

They are design to catch fisherman not fish. MY PB smallmouth was on a Aberdeen hook a night crawler with a split shot lol probably a 12 cent rig lol
I have heavily invested in the color junebug based on Matt's die hard affection for it.

Caught my first swing head fish this weekend at Chickamauga. 3/4oz with a Zoom Super Speed Craw in Junebug. Annihilated it!

Need some thoughts on shallow river dirty water summer river fishing. Non tidal
Just for the fishing community I caught a 30in northern pike on a Texas rig with a full body white and chartreuse tail
Great video! What's your leader length?
I wonder if you threw a swivel attached to the football head whether a “Helicopter lure” would work. Lots of movement and super compact.
I'll be working on this technique today
Works really good swimming it 2 🤙🏼
Never tried the hella crawz on a wobblehead but that sounds awesome! Half ounce is all I throw. Since I fish a the bank it’s best.
I used to bend my hooks out on the premade heads, but now I’ve started to buy heads where I can add my own hook and I use the Owner Haymaker, I just trust it more
18:37 Gamakatsu makes a “hybrid-ewg” that already has the hook point pointing up more! 🤙

The Yamamoto creature bait is also a great bait for the wobble head use it all the time in Junebug and Black and Chartreuse for muddy water
Love this technique as well. Can y'all get around to making some updated night fishing videos?
How do you feel about using a Tokyo rig to achieve the same thing as the swing head?
It doesn't "hunt" as well, but I use the Tokyo as a sub in a few small ponds that I fish. They have muddy bottoms and I feel my wobble head gets lost in the muck.
This is a killer technique with a Keitech Crazy Flapper, my PB set up
What wobble head can I use for fishing in florida? We have a lot of grass.

What size fish will go for the 2 ot? I have some 1/8 wobble heads i think they're 2 ot
I throw a green pumpkin purple tiny paca craw on a 3/8oz fish 18'-25' water,do pretty good with em.

I wish Dirty Jigs went back to the old line tie on their swingheads (pivot heads).
Slime bottoms, like tule ringed lakes? Clear Lake misses you BTW. 😅
The wobble head bite is insanely good at Clearlake 😉
So what is your top bait & technique choices for big bass where bottom is covered in the slime? Is that slim a grass or algae??
I think it is Strike King but have you used a wobble head not in the football head shape? It is a rounded triangle shape to get through weeds.
