Whopper Plopper 75 is where it’s at. Weighs as much as the 110 BUT has a smaller profile than the 90. …its just kinda plumper… (I find the 90’s prop doesn’t always start right away for some reason)
Hi Tim, thanks for the great recommendations Thank you! Fishing ponds and small river arms with some grass. The bass are feeding on bluegills. I have been using a clear Heddon tiny torpedo and tying a 3 to 4 ft. dropper line off the top treble hook bend with an aberdeen hook and a berkley powerbait trout worm, or floating fly-fishing spider, or even a wacky rigged 3 to 4 inch senko.
I have a local pond that holds 4-6 lbs bass and many in the 2-3 lb range. They will regularly eat a walking bait like a spook and a variety of frogs. I do best on a bluegill color, black or white. I switched to a spook jr to match the size of the forage in my pond and I started catching more big ones. I was surprised but the spook jr in wounded shad color with a size 4(I believe) vmc willow blade treble hook has been producing bug bites along weed edges for me. I have learned so much from Matt and Tim and truly make an effort to try and apply the tips they give out and it has never failed me. Thanks to Matt and Tim for all the amazing content through the years. About to order my first g.loomis rod cuz of you guys. 😅
I finally bit the bullet and bought my first G. Loomis rod several weeks ago. To say I love it is an understatement. I put a Metanium MGL on it and oh my God! I can’t imagine a better set up for any amount of money. It is the only set up I have in the high end category and now I want Loomis for all of my bait casters!
Biggest Zara Spook & the 2 biggest Shower Blows walkers are my 2 fav.....Floating jerk- Bomber Long A, Rapala 13 & 18...popper- megabass, rebel pop R, and the Storm...whopper plopper in 110 & 130, same size Choppo, and even the Savage gear ploppers good...a good budget plopper...Bass Pro Shops new 1..can't remember the name...Chaos? Frogs- i have 1,946...too many to pick 😂
Matt those Poppers work great for the top water category. Slaying Small and Large Mouths on the ones you have shown in this video. Thanks for the info 👍🏻
One again a great video. For your walking baits, it looks like you have Steez CT TW 70 paired with a Megabass P5 Destroyer Z Crank Elseil. That reel is gets rave reviews but it is a $729 reel. Using the same rod (they need a better name for this rod) have you tried pairing it up with the new 2024 Shimano Metanium DC 70 that seems to be a logical high end competitor but it sells for $500. Which one casts further for those distant blowups? Which one gets fewer over runs if you cast into the wind? This would be an important comparison for those of us trying to reach that school of bass that always seem to be 10 feet further away that our existing equipment seems to cast.
Shimano has lures as well. They are about 15 to 30 dollars depending on size. All of them have the weight transfer system and have a flash boost technology to gain more bites.
Whatever the stock trebles are on the Evergreen SB are legit! I was on a float trip last weekend using the 77 size and caught a hook to the index finger, barb and all (with a bass still attached). Thankfully I was able to yank it out, no problem
Hey Tim, I’m near berryessa and am wondering if you have any tips for this heat? My father is visiting me this weekend and he hasn’t caught a bass in years and I’d love to get them on a fish. Any tips?
The Norman Top Dollar is the best topwater I ever used. Too bad they don’t produce this lure anymore. Maybe you can convince Norman to do another run of 1000. I tried but they don’t seem interested even though they go for 90 bucks on eBay.
In a lot of your videos, you guys have talked about night fishing. Is it possible for you to do a night video. I understand the problems with us seeing what you're doing, but you guys explain everything so well I personally think it would be awesome
Anybody know the name of a top water plug with the internal barrel type of propeller,it has a lip but the water passes thru and turns the barrel prop thats located under the body in the center inside the lure.I saw one yesterday for the first time and have no idea what its called but i want some
I’ve caught tons of fish on the Berkley Choppo 90 this year. Catches me fish when literally nothing else gets bit. I’ve started throwing the 105 recently and caught a few on it. I can’t catch a frog fish to save my life. Had a few slap at it, but not even a true “bite”.
What kind of rod and reel setup do I need as someone that wants one all around casting rod to use for everything? I have a 100 dollar prebuilt rod that is fun to use, but lacks sensitivity and just feels cheap. I watched some of your combo vids and was thinking about getting the Daiwa Tatula XT for a rod and the Daiwa Fuego CT for my reel. My budget is 200-250. Just looking for something that is versatile. Thanks so much for all the help!
If you're going to be fishing mostly largemouth a 7'-7'3 medium heavy casting rod with a 7 to 1 speed baitcaster is about as all around of a combo you can get

For the World Pop when would you go for clown vs the more natural n or t smelt? Or are they all interchangeable since you can only see the belly anyways?
Anyone know what the yellow/red things Tim has on some of the rods down towards the reel are? I’ve seen then in a few vids but I can’t tell and im curious what they are haha
Cal Coast Cali Clip hook keeper. Best use for them is holding a dropshot weight. I just use my reel as a hook keeper if my rod doesn’t have one. I pull most of my keepers off my rods depending if they’re a nuisance and get in my way. Some I leave depending on the location.
I've had better luck with a topwater prop bait. I've been dismal with frogs because either my hookup ration is so poor OR because the bass that bite it so often miss it!!! Maybe they need glasses?!?!? Hey Thx!!!
TF are you talking about bro...? Some people speak in front of a camera on que better than others but he does DAMN good couldn't tell you how much he's helped me as an angler.
So the title literally has nothing to do with this video. Thanks for wasting a half hour of my day. I thought I was going to see some new and different baits. Here it's just the same old same old
Sounds like you quit early, or you don't realize how the Nomad Dartwing is supposed to be retrieved. We stay ahead of trends, and this trend is working.
Not sure what the deal is with my smallmouth but they are not about walking baits. I tried sooo many brands and sizes and colors and retrieves and the are just not about it.
You need to give them old top water baits out to your subscribers on a comment contest! You ain’t going to use them old ugly things again! LOL. I got some paint to get them looking great again! You guys keep wanting us to buy new baits but you don’t give nothing back to your subscribers! Come on! Keep the faith! 👍🥸🙏

The plopper tail on the 75 seems to be the same size as the 110 plopper tails. You are right, they raise a RUCKUS!!! I don't buy the 90 size anymore.

Georgian Bay (Lake Huron). Mischief Minnow by Freedom Tackle. Blue Bandit 4.5. Small jaw and largies.

One of my favorite top water/subsurface is a rapala jointed. Aside from musky and pike…it’s also absolutely killer on bass
Great sound effects Tim.
Natural lake being I’m in Mn; A Bobby’s Perfect Frog (Gen 1) is my all time best top water lure. Sparrow color
I love the choppo 75...when is it time to toss the 120 vs the 75? Thanks 😊
The Hellraizer straight up catches em, and it’s super fun to throw
What combo and line would you throw the dart wing on?
Would the nomad dart wing be good in windy conditions or water with current?
The small Whopper Popper works great up here in NY 👍🐠😎

Gonna put that Popmax to work in the next couple of weeks when we go to NC.
Duo came out with a br top water that’s awesome for smallies. It truly walks in place and spits water and makes bubbles . It’s a killer
Man... everyone I know personally in N Ca is struggling to get a topwater bite going this year! All the bait spawns are way behind.

Braid to leader top water fishing... How long should my leader be?

Hartwell, You guys have me partial to the Shower Blows but my buddy is a pretty avid angler and he says throw the Ima Skimmer.
Also Berkley topwater Cane Walker, Drift or J Walkers.
