I've watched a ton of TB videos over the years and picked up a lot of great tips, but Matt talking about "crashing" a swim jig through heavy cover has definitely been the best one. My absolute favorite pond bait from spring all the way through summer is a bluegill color or greenpumpkin swim jig in 1/4oz or 3/8oz it absolutely crushes pond bass

I just bought my first swim jig today, it’s been pretty hot, sparse moments of cloud coverage, but I’ve been kind of slow swimming a bluegill colored one with a green pumpkin paddle tail, and I just kind of let it fall occasionally, and then I just pull up on the rod and start swimming it again and I’ve caught 4 on it so far. Still out at the lake and got curious on how I can get more on it
Just returned from Seminole this past Saturday utilizing the California Swim Jig, R2S Dwalker 120, 65# straight Maxcuatro. I went big fish hunting and the grass appears you can walk on it in crystal clear water. This fishing is tough but the Cali SJ can handle it. Hung 3 put 2 in the boat largest 7# +. It was a war, sometimes getting hung up and actually pulling the boat to the swimbait. I thought at times I would break the rod. 2/3 in the boat is pretty good under the circumstances but I do need to get a rod to handle the load and to react properly to the hooked bass. I think this is the reason I lost the one fish. I will also go to 80# Maxcuatro.
I'm fishing a tournament on the St. Johns river tomorrow and I am going up to deep creek (aka land on the monsters) I struggle with a swimjig, now I know why...I always used a crawl. I'm gonna try this tomorrow. I will update! I snatched a 7.5 and a 6.5 last month there on a Carolina rig out deep.

Matt, I always love the in-depth wisdom of you videos. I often have one question though when you are fishing braid to leader. I typically fish a long leader for a spinning application, but what length do you use when fishing swim jigs, jigs, or wobble heads?
Swim jig, light flipping, light frogging, texas rig, larger paddle tail swimbaits, weedless paddle tails, buzzbait, toad... are all ways you could use that rod.
Appreciate the specific pairings - have caught more on swimjigs this year, thanks! However, do you have a favorite swimbait for the Uoze bladed jig?? I noticed that there is a huge difference in size from the 3/16 up to 3/4 oz which will affect trailer choice. The 3/8 and 1/2 oz have similar profile and hook size, but I have not managed to find a swimbait that gets the "secondary action" for the Uoze.
