    The software that combines radar returns with that display is phenomenal. I’ve stared at a few radar displays while I was in the navy and never saw anything that impressive. I love the F35, it’s an amazing aircraft.

    The new interface, radar, and avionics suite the F-35 has makes completing missions and shooting down aircraft as easy as playing a video game. Just select your target, select the appropriate weapon, release, and watch for the effect.

  • @Jason.W.
    @Jason.W. 12 ปีที่แล้ว +45

    Agreed. I like your reply :)
    F22/F35's uniquely superior component is the avionics. It is naturally more complicated to manage all the extra inputs. Can't wait to see how they improve it in the next iteration.

      @metalnat27 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      This fighter jet isn't use a whole lot in the military though. And that is mainly because of how much feul it tends to burn. It just burns far too much feuls for the military capabilities. So they're still sticking with the F-18 mostly for now. Also the loadout isn't sophisticated as the F-18. I could be wrong on that but from what I've seen, F-18 has a superior loadout. Which us extremely crucial in wars.

      Just as DCS F-18 has components that cannot be created (due to secrecy of said component), a DCS F-35 full-fidelity module could do the same - the majority of what we can see from this video would not fall under that rule, surely?

      Not even close.... the F22 ragdolls the 35 in a dogfight. Hell... the F16 would hang with it in a dogfight if the stealth wasn't on the 35s side. A f15 would be a step down from the 22, but still would make the 35 look stupid in a dogfight, minus the stealth aspect. If the 15 or the 16 was in eyesight they both would down the 35... quite possibly fairly easily. The 35 will be used as a mobile command center for 6th Gen jets that will be A.I. flown is my guess.

    Depends on the operational requirement. In a heated situation, ideally they've got things set up like they want em, and then many of the functions can be accessed with their hands on the throttle and stick (cursor, mode select, etc.) Some of the smaller touch functions are too fiddly for a physically demanding combat environment, but the "portal" hot-swap functionality is clearly designed to be easy to do in a combat environment.. Nifty.

The things they really care to keep top secret are its weapons' various minimum/maximum effective ranges, actual top speed and altitude ceiling, climb rate, RADAR cross-section size, RADAR design and ranges, etc. The pilot interfaces are not that big of a deal. If anything, they want this stuff out there so the enemy can be intimidated by how advanced it is.

    A great plane that will only get better with time. It's no wonder China and Russia are scared and trying to play catch up. Hardpoints? If your opponents radars are no longer working (the 1st things to be hit) the F35 can be loaded for bear, stealth is not a factor. Information overload? Not really, he is locking onto targets from a distance, no big rush. This plane is not built for dogdights, it's built to kill without ever being seen. Those fantastical Sukhoi in Syria everyone now wants? No one is shooting missles at them. They are not that good. China and Russia only have planes that look stealthy, they are not stealth. India wants its money back on the joint India/Russia fiasco.

    This is 5th gen aircraft and it's mind blowing the technology it's got. The crazy thing is the US is now working on a 6th generation aircraft, I can't even imagine what the technology is gone be like on the 6th gen aircraft. People can talk crap all they want about the F-35 but other countries wouldn't be crazy by paying $100 million per aircraft if it was a useless plane. Pilots from other countries that flown it were amazed at the F-35's capabilities, there has not been a single pilot that came out and said the aircraft is useless.

    Video went a bit invalid after the 7:20ish mark. The second you open your weapons bay doors, your radar signature is gone for those few seconds and those enemy fighters nearby would've seen for those few seconds that there's something in the air nearby.

    Lt Col Chip Berke said the difference between the F-35 and a 4 gen fighter is like the difference between a flip phone and the latest IPhone. It's an information monster, giving the pilot a vast Situational Awareness advantage over it's adversaries. F-35 pilots have described it as giving them a "god's-eye view" of the air battle. They all said it was in another league compared to their former fighter.

    experiencing this first hand and reading the comments saying this is dumb and to many movements for combat
    .. you can lock on and launch a missile at oncoming aircraft up to 60 miles out. that's far out of detection range for this aircraft. you can fire and forget and your target will be destroyed due to modern technology. all without your enemy even knowing a missile is heading in his direction. the way this jet is set up and designed is far more user friendly and easier to use and learn as opposed to other aircraft being used not only by the US military but other militaries around the world.

      You seem not to get it. Why would a pilot be engaging in a BVR task while in the middle of a WVR engagement? Its rather too late to be designate targets to the computer for continous tracking when the target is already in the merge with you. So obviously the answer is no.

    • @PrimalBlueWolf
      @PrimalBlueWolf 10 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Seeing as CCIP'd F-16's can already cue their ACM radar modes in a dogfight using their HMCS, I see no reason to assume that the F-35, with its integrated DAS, would not be able to.

      ***** There must be a shortcut to lock on an attacking enemy automatically. It could be voice activated by saying something like "close air" which would select the aim-9, aim-120 or 25mm gun and guide you to the closest enemy fighter automatically. You could also say something like "flare time launch" or "chaff time launch" to dispense flares continually at a chosen rate. or simply "flare launch" to dispense flares only once. or use some shortcut button on critical controls. The most dangerous enemy could be detected automatically by checking it's heading and checking if he has a lock on you or worst if he shot a missile towards you.

    I dug and dug for a post that was relevant to the question I wanted to ask. Sadly this was the closest I could find about jet fighter cockpit design. Now back at the time of this video. I get the impression heads up display was good. But the pilot was in a upright seated position, which in turn limits the turning G force. You know why. The blood drains out of the brain. ... What if, a cock pit was designed where the pilot was laying down on the same plane as the aircraft? Wouldn't the G forces on the blood be evenly distributed across the body? Possibly extending the force of Gs during a turn? also with current tech the pilot can have a virtual 360 view in real time. Or that was thought of and fatigue set in sooner.

    • @thehelldoicallthis9241
