I think Shadow the Hedgehog has time based score. But SA games had this weird thing of it being based on scores, meaning you have to smash into things
HE WAS ABLE TO DO CITY ESCAPE SKIP FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER AT GDQ
Not a lot of GDQ runs get the trifecta of a great host/commentators/player in one run like this, but when it comes together, magic happens. Easily one of GDQs all time best segments.

Another great one was the Super Mario Odyssey Run by Bayleef, from 2019. Spikevegeta and Timpany were on the couch and Punchy commentating. Watching this run after Bayleef’s two years ago makes me believe lighting really can strike the same place twice!

This game is 20 years old now. For the record, it's been around longer in the Sonic series then when it was initially introduced as a 10th anniversary title. If that doesn't tell you time is terrifying I don't know what will.

This was absolutely amazing to watch all of the way through. I can't believe he managed to pull off so many tricks on his first attempt. The commentary was great and the gameplay was magnificent.

This is just everything I love about speed running. Physics exploits, frame-perfect inputs, clipping through stage geometry, and just plain going fast.
Never played this game but the commentators hyping him makes me interested in watching the run :D

The BACKWARDS DRIFT as Tails is pretty swag strats. This was a really amazing speedrun, co grays team and runner!
This run was freakin' sick! I personally really love SA2B and have really good memories with it, and these strats that Dage4 pulled off were awesome! Special mention going to those Pyramid Cave skips on those loops!
What a great run. Had no idea about this kid, been following sa2 runners since about 2016 but its cool to see new people coming in and doing so good especially at a gdq. This game was my childhood, this was so fun to watch

This run was absolutely nuts congrats to Dage4 for being such a skilled runner! I don't know much about the tech but It was super interesting to see all kinds of top level execution and the commentators hyping everything up certainly made me feel the difficulty level of these tricks.
