Raditz was already a menace to deal with for Gokû, even with Piccolo at his side, but the revelation he gave that the 2 others Saiyajin were much stronger than him, that was a real shot of stake for the show !

Gohan breaking through the pod and headbutting Raditz in the chest was the first thing i saw of DBZ and got me hooked ever since.
Dragon ball z is the best anime i ever watched.
The pacing is good, this is not op, this are the early 90s and back then, every episode has to be good, even the fillers are nice.
My opinion.
"For my perspective, he's small" - In one source for these characters they gave Raditz a height of 6'6" which more or less figures compared with the rest of characters there.
Thank you for watching this in the original Japanese (the dub is okay, but all that talking 😮💨) to do the series its proper justice; I had to subscribe when I saw that.

Cowardly Raditz's fighting power value is 1500.
It does not matter in this case since she is ahead, but for future comments or comments in shows that she is not ahead.
It's not necessary to correct her with the correct information if she wants to theorize that Raditz's power level is under 710, with the correction you take away all the fun of her making theories/predictions, eventually the show will correct her if it's important and in the worst case scenario if she is wrong about something important and the show is not going to correct that soon and that error can affect her understanding of the story her mods will tell her.

I love this, the greatest team up ever! Who would have thought we would ever see Son Goku and Piccolo fighting side by side?
I like the scene of Goku letting go of Raditz's tail. Of course Goku does this as he mistakenly trusts Raditz but that's who Goku is. He may be a Saiyan, he may be one of them, but he is not one them at the same time. Goku is a good person, willing to give people a second chance. Piccolo is a perfect example, if Goku hadn't have given him a second chance then Goku would be even more screwed right now.
I like as well as this isn't a clear choice for Goku to trust Piccolo or to trust his brother. Piccolo has tried to kill Goku and take over the world so he isn't exactly someone who is Goku's friend, but the same could be said for Raditz. For all Goku knew, if he listened to Piccolo, Piccolo could have targetted Goku with the Makankosappo or teamed up with Raditz even. People like to say how this is Goku being dumb by I don't agree at all, Goku and Piccolo aren't exactly best friends are they? I get that's it's frustrating as the audience as Raditz is obviously lying but that's what makes for good drama.
The tail grabbing thing is really weird as logically it really shouldn't work. As you rightly say, Goku by himself overcame his tail weakness as a teenager so you'd think other Saiyans in the past would have done the same and taught it to their children, so Raditz shouldn't have such a weakness. I know Goku is supposed to be a prodigy but this kind of seems silly and not in a good way.

Goku's mercy is annoying in Z, but without it. Everything would be too easy, let's be honest.. who wants Raditz to be done in so easily? The audience want more battle!
Edit: also Raditz's voice actor is actually the same as Captain Buggy from One Piece.

I would honestly recommend for people that are starting DBZ to watching DBZ Kai since it cuts the filler from Z and the pacing is much better. But hey if you are enjoying then don't mind me, hope you enjoy this crazy ride ❤
it has a changed soundtrack, which is like one of the main reasons to watch DBZ in the first place.
for people getting into it, I would always recommend the manga. it's easily the best way to experience Dragon Ball

we always try to make her watch it without making her worry of any spoiler even of its with mistake we have mods that watched dragon ball so we can let her watch or read what she need to read if she want it
I'm not sure if you had join us for some live reactions on Saturdays and you know where she is at in the show, if you did, then you should know that she reacts to many English clips at the end of some episodes with Bruce Faulconer score on them and if you don't then you are droppings names that are very far ahead that could have been spoilery.
In any case if she would have try to search for those tracks here on yt, specially the last one, the thumbnails on the vids would have been spoilery for her at this moment.
So please be more careful with comments, we take spoilers very serious in this channel and the best way to go it's to comments things only from the current episode or pass episodes to be safe.
